ELI5: Why is Education a Business in low-economy Countries?

Not getting it. Is it like people fool each other with just education and don't talk mainly about how incentives work, finances work, and systems work, and keep binding kids and making them with weak accountability and responsibility and poor understanding, making them abysmal at taking risks? What I mean by business is that they keep filling their pockets and make systems around it to stay in that loop forever...

Like, for example, understand the classic example of Countries in South Asia, Africa, and Other countries too

edit -- Like, more specifically, the school's responsibility is to complete the bookish education, whatever is part of the curriculum, like thats needs to be completed and pass tests? And you're educated if you pass (rotten education system)

Sorry guys and gals for asking this question, but I felt this for 10+ years; education itself is a complex question

ELI5: Why does inflation even exist?

Like, we invest to grow our money, and one of the reasons is to beat inflation. In many ways, gosh, if we didn't have to think much about investments, if inflation didn't exist? And we could have avoided so much time being wasted?

Why are Bluetooth and WiFi not showing?

Using ASUS TUF F15 2022 FX517, earlier it was WiFi, not Bluetooth either. I generally don't close my computer at night; it remains open and goes to sleep. Now Bluetooth is missing too. What can we do?

And why is it not showing? Is it highusage or high temp?

Hard-earned lesson: Missed the ITR deadline by 2.5 hours and got slammed with a ₹5,000 late fee for an ₹850 tax balance. 😭😭😭

Hey guys, just need to vent and warn anyone else who might be dealing with this.

I was filing the ITR for my mother (Income ~14+ Lakh). We were actively waiting on a document from someone to make sure everything was 100% accurate, so we intentionally held off on submitting. Last night, my mom told me to just finish up the payment and filing. She thought I completed it, but I lost track of time and forgot about it for about two and a half hours.

By the time I logged back into the e-filing portal, it was just past midnight. Because of that tiny delay, the system automatically slapped us with a flat ₹5,000 late fee u/s 234F.

The worst part? The actual remaining tax liability left to pay was literally just ₹850.

It feels absolutely insane that a minor human mistake on a tiny balance triggers a massive flat penalty just because the net taxable income is over ₹5L. There is zero grace period, zero scaling based on how many hours late you are, and absolutely no way to waive it.

I’m just going to pay the ₹5,850 total out of my own pocket right now via UPI, get her Aadhaar OTP to verify it, and take this as a very expensive, painful lesson.

Has anyone else gotten screwed by the midnight cutoff over a minor delay or waiting on documents? Why is the portal calculation so completely unforgiving?

Is there any possible way to get it back? 😭😭😭

Edit - This is my first time filing ITR; please have some mercy in the replies

Last thing I need to say: I want those people to comment who can understand the problem, who know how to solve problems, who can ask questions, and those who already know about this, rather than just giving generalized advice and telling the importance of time.

We are all trying to learn something; even though u filed your ITR on time, we are all playing a presumptive game at many levels without knowing all

So, I will pay attention, but we should all learn by asking questions like a good lifelong student... that was my approach from posting this

WhatsApp 6-hour logout feature on WhatsApp Web/Desktop is killing me

As many of you may know, WhatsApp in India recently introduced the 6-hour re-authentication for WhatsApp Web/Desktop.

This is honestly killing my productivity. I rely heavily on WhatsApp on my computer throughout the day, and having to scan the QR code every 6 hours is incredibly frustrating. If I start work in the morning, I have to log in again later, and if I leave my PC for a while, I often come back to find I've been logged out yet again. It constantly breaks my workflow.

I'm not asking why this exists—I already know the reason.

I just want to know:

  • Has anyone found a workaround or solution?
  • How many people here are affected by this?
  • If you're affected, is it also disrupting your workflow, or do you not use WhatsApp on your computer enough for it to matter?
