Why IS dragon designed like this for achetypes?

I dropped wb a bit after the first set, came back for skybound dragons and have stayed since, but ever since I could swear the only archetype that dragon has had that was truly strong has just been ramp, am I misremembering or just forgetting something?

Like, discard was a thing, but even when it was around last set it needed fan to really do much, and I wasnt playing when disdain was relevant I believe

But since coming back it seems like ive seen different archetypes fully for other classes except dragon that just kinda falls into some variation of ramp?
For example portal of course has AF and egg, forest (had) combo and evo, abyss with evo and mode (kinda annoyed at how many decks were just evo) but the closest split I thought of for dragon ive witnessed was Fennie (which is literally just ramp into fennie into strong discounted followers) and Evo (which wasn't particularly good either and of course was just yet another evo deck)

It seems like they just have a problem committing fully to a separate playstyle for dragon other than ramping

Anyone else pretty dissapointed with AF this set?

Not to be negativity posting but it has me considering just going back to playing egg, at the end of last set it was super fun to make the different pieces and plan ahead, along with gundam, scarlet/myuu, or beta spam as different wincons depending on how long you expect the match to go
Managing handsize with fusing a bunch and preparing turn 5 copy spell with artifact catapult + yogg really felt fun to me

now though with catapult especially gone it really feels like you dont have enough generators to fuse into gundam, or even have much variety, and your gameplan is pretty much only scarlet/myuu now as finishers

chances are I might just not be understanding how to play it now, but I didnt realize how fun karula and especially catapult made AF fun to play for me until they were gone....well, at least until I decide to grind unlimited

tldr it feels like in terms of options AF got gutted and it makes me sad. maybe ill just play pawn or rally this set

What made loot sword fall off?

I remember it absolutely dominating for a time, but then at some point I could swear it just...stopped existing?
Was the nerf to the 1PP 3 damage + draw if fused really that bad for it? Or was it also a combination of losing albert?
The current meta seems like its slow enough to where sincero would do fine, so im kinda curious on if there are particular reasons

JP channels to watch?

Does anyone have a list of JP channels on yt, any decks work, I just know shadowverse in general is more popular there and want to expand the ones I check out

Does nangong count as hebe or loli, or are the two not mutually exclusive...?

This might sound like a silly question but I was generally wondering, since all the AoD don't seem small enough to me to fit comfortably into "loli" territory but seem closer to a teenage build which to my knowledge would fit under "hebe". Maybe im just getting my anime terms mixed up more. anyone who is a bigger weeb than me feel free to explain for me why or why not

This is my favorite designed card in the entire game

I seriously love this thing. Back when it dropped last expac I wanted to make AF work with it but just couldn't but it's really been shining for me
It gives a spell that allows you to combo so many things with each other (T7 Karula + dog into T8 scarlet into T9 scarlet + myuu) or just allow you to keep reusing gundam/scarlet as long as you have the foresight to hold onto it (a weakness of gundam being that you spend all match fusing into it and can only use it once otherwise, while not guaranteeing the board is clear on its arrival)

It feels like this singular dog can work with like 4 other cards to set up combos with. I have been falling in love with AF all over again after getting a handle on it more. on it's own it cant finish out games with storm or something but it can set up for other cards to and its very fun

Also hes just really cute and fluffy so art wise thats a plus

3.0 singlehandedly sold me on Cissia

So for context, ive played since launch, and am one of the types that preferred the old vibe of ZZZ more since launch (tv mode and all that yadda yadda you have heard it a billion times), but I still enjoy the game and have been coming back from time to time when I feel like it
I wasnt really big on later waifei patches and ended up skipping through it, and only really came back seriously for 3.0, and I have to say...Cissia fits the exact vibe I was looking for EXACTLY

Part of it is her goofiness but genuinely, I think her EN VA fits the character SO perfectly it elevates it. There are often talks in regards to how EN treats their VAs compared to JP in the industry and I usually only have on EN voices when I wanna listen along while doing something, but hers just makes me want to listen every time shes on screen

Character wise shes great too, her fighting against promeia despite very obviously being scared was great after I went back to see what I missed and shes just the kind of character I enjoy where shes clearly not perfect but flawed in a very charming way.

I think the ONLY aspect im not really sold on is her design, but honestly if we keep her the entire time through 3.0 I think I will have to lock in and get her on her rerun because shes just so charming, I love her

You think zooey will keep you safe?

Was playing casuals with friend and he just hit me with "DUDE" in all caps on seeing this board and I almost cried laughing

Expectations for first year anni?

I finally hopped on shadowverse with WB (after taking a break past launch until the gbf set. I still regret not getting el.) and have stuck with it since coming back, so I am super excited for the first anni for this game

So far, my expectations arent high, but it would be cool to see a big surprise

My main thoughts are:

- Chunk of pulls (if they just give out a bunch of intro cards ill fight someone at cygames myself)
- Nio in shop (since its been a year since the first BP, assuming they ever plan to make BP leaders available again, I THINK Nio was the first BP leader...?)
- Larger set size (This meta has overall been pretty decent but since we lost a bunch of cards, not much better time to make a bigger set than with anniversary)

Unlikely thoughts:

- New class/abyss split (I know they introduced portal a year into OG shadowverse, but I cant really see them doing the same here considering abyss' existence, unless they just thought the identity and aesthetics between the two was too close...? Either way we would need a REALLY big set for it I think)

Constant shadowbanning?

I have no clue why but every time I use my main, within a few posts I get shadowbanned (replies are unavailable to anyone else, friends stop getting notifications for me when they normally do)

So far ive tried twice, ill stop using my main for around 2 weeks, post there for a bit again, then within a day I get shadowbanned again and my replies cant be seen by anyone! Any clue how to avoid this or is this just a consequence of elon's masterful website management

Sick joke god decided to play on me today LMFAO

Was on a losing streak testing and trying to understand AF portal and amulet haven better, and decided to queue instead with egg portal just for my dailies since I am most comfortable with it

What I ran into next was an amulet haven stealing my egg

You probably know how this match ended as the turn before this they got the lycanoth spell

On one hand it was extremely funny but on the other I was on a 10 game loss streak this just made me think god himself decided to spite me

How long did archetypes hang around in rotation or get abandoned in OG shadowverse?

Im not familiar with rotation formats in card games, but currently I enjoy playing egg and trying to learn AF, but I was wondering how often did old archetypes get completely left behind in the OG shadowverse for a long while? Currently I know puppet is dead in rotation, but is there any idea how long they usually wait to bring archetype support back?

Is the inconsistency of combo forest in its current rotation implementation an intended flaw

Im not the biggest forest player to start off with so maybe I am missing the mark entirely here, but I always found roach really cool, and this set they seem to have shifted to a different variation for combo (or buff) that wants you to consistently make 3 combo in order to buff up cards in deck, but it always has felt inconsistent to me

The idea is turn 4/5, drop thestae, evo her and get a 1PP card out to activate the buff, and then from there every turn the cards in your deck get buffed by 1/1 for 3 turns

The issue with the strategy (to me, at least) is that of course you cant actually control what cards you draw
Say I draw fencer immediately, I shuffle her back around turn 4 with one of my two options to return her to deck, and from there 1 of 3 things happen

1: I draw her again too early for her to be buffed much or useful
2: I DONT draw her again until its far too late
3: I draw her at the right timing to push for damage

In 2/3 of these scenarios I get screwed entirely by luck to an even greater degree, not to mention im still having to actually upkeep the thestae buff during this time. ALSO there is the chance that by reshuffling i simply get cards I don't want in my hand that I want to be buffed anyway

There are tools to resuffle back into the deck but of course to my knowledge no way to actually search the cards you shuffle when needed so its just up to god on if you get it too early, late, or right on time

Currently the main strat i see people run with buff forest is to just try to last until t9 to drop a bunch of congregants that they probably cant clear by then but it doesnt feel particularly strong up to that point in the first place

My main thought that comes to mind that would make things more consistent is of course have Thestae buff all cards in hand AND deck. but I have no clue on card game balancing and if something like that would absolutely break the game. What are other people's thoughts on the deck?

How do you feel about the transition to 3D in later games?

Hello hello, I am new to this subreddit and am making my way through the games (starting ch.5 on D2 currently) and was wondering what people felt about the use of 3D models from 6 onwards compared to sprites?

Coming from fighting games, personally I have a huge preference for sprites compared to 3d models for the most part, comparing older GG games to XRD onwards while I do think the 3d models can be cool, I just find myself appreciating the older titles a lot more, so I will probably end up feeling the same when I eventually make my way to D6

Is there any reasonable method to get disgaea 3?

I decided to binge the disgaea games specifically because I think usalia is adorable and thought "why not start from the top?"

Beat disgaea 1 and starting 2, but then I noticed that at least on steam 3 isn't listed at all while every other one was, I know there is 1 complete on switch but was unable to find anything for 3, did I overlook something or is 3 just not available for purchase on modern devices?

Granblue and the strange line it rides with representation and fanservice

Mostly just thoughts that came to mind but I started thinking about how weird (positive) granblue is in terms of how it handles its characters and the ones that are a focus but also seems to still have normal stuff you'd anticipate from an anime game

In general, typically most anime fans I notice these days tend to be into different camps. Some dislike older tropes and thinks they should do away with them completely, others embrace these tropes still, and one thing I also notice is that these groups tend to be pro/anti lgbt (at least the louder parts of them)

The thing is with granblue, it seems to unapologetically stick to older tropes and character design types as well. An easy example is the "loli" design trope. I don't think genshin really has those sexualized, but then you look at some of granblue's (wind lily) and its pretty obvious its a design trope that they arent too shy about creating.

There is also archetypes such as yandere (Nier, Lobelia) that are popular and prevalent for gbf, that can be seen as cringy in more western spaces these days.

https://preview.redd.it/e6fbhyzcqb1h1.png?width=960&format=png&auto=webp&s=38e21485b60d4b3c46a830df18ba62a5d65c3555

On the flip side though, you also have designs like spinnah. Thats just straight up a black guy. Hairstyle and all.

The thing is, gbf doesnt do these often for obvious reasons, but the existence of them and going all the way is also appreciated. There is another leader in shadowverse thats actually designed to BE black instead of simply having dark skin when considering cygames other games, as well as the recent JP uma stuff.

https://preview.redd.it/aryqho1jpb1h1.png?width=480&format=png&auto=webp&s=54e7a0e90714e4e7f62f59c2122fd07caea79a9d

There is also lgbt rep as well, people generally agree Ladiva and Cagliostro are both transgender with Cag being a very popular character overall. The thing is, both of them are very different types of ways to approach trans people. Ladiva can be seen as stereotypical, but cygames treats her generally pretty seriously, and shes well liked on the cast, even with an explanation on WHY she wants to keep her body. Even Cag mentions she could give Ladiva a different one and Ladiva just simply refuses for her personal reasons.

All in all I think gbf is really interesting. It includes more progressive mindsets with some of its designs, not enough to say that they actively 100% push for them (especially in spinnahs case, not many full on black characters among cygames rosters), but they also seem to both want some degree of inclusiveness, while also not abandoning common tropes in the anime

Ill sometimes see talk about "gatekeeping" these days and granblue seems to me like it fits in a weird spot where it gatekeeps itself by both being a bit more progressive compared to other gachas, while also still showing its age in a way. Anyway rambling over

The general thoughts I have based off the leaders I fight in ranked

*this isnt meant to be rude to anyone but just in good fun. slight revisions made since luwoh and sincero seem like they hit the same kinda audience (me as well)

Also note frieren can also fit into the "will probably beat my ass" tier most of the people that use her in my experience have been roach players that can smell fear.

"My opponent is clearly playing milteo and stocking ghosts, but if I can survive just one more turn then I can kill them. They only have 3 damage on board right now, and 8PP for next turn.

They likely have not drawn into milteo yet or are saving it for some reason. IF they milteo the most they can get out on that turn is 9 damage from 3 direct attacks into 2 ghosts after clearing the board, totaling to 9 damage. If I push damage with odin here, they are forced to either back off and heal at the notice that they will die from my albert since I still have coin to play him at 9PP next turn...

or they dont notice and milteo anyway thinking they can survive the next turn, meaning I win the match since there is no way they can heal past 12 without spending an evo for the turn on a bat. It's perfect. I have already either won or delayed the match longer to potentially get into a better position, I have got this."

"ADAHIME???????????"

I didnt even know that Milteo ran her- I was sure it was a Milteo deck either way due to how the game played up to that point so I completely disregarded her as an option and payed for it.....
I got my ranked chest next match but I had never felt so disappointed trying to put so much thought behind a risk only for it to blow up in my face like that lmfao
