Alaska changed my life. Patagonia, you're up next...

I hiked through Alaska, and it changed my life. I've been to beautiful places before, but Alaska took my breath away in a way I wasn't expecting.

It was brutally beautiful. Raw. Majestic. Untouched. Imposing. Dangerous. And I heard my own voice there in a way I haven't before. I moved my center, and I left a piece of my soul in Alaska. I know I'll go back there again.

I'm heading to Patagonia soon, and I can't wait to see what it will mean, and how it will change me in new ways.

There's no other point to this point. Just... jump into adventures you're not sure about. Life is short, and make it count. Do the things you're unsure about, because I promise you'll look back at many of those and will be so glad you took the chance.

P.S. If anyone else is heading to Patagonia soon (or wants to come with me), would love to hear from you!

Hiking Patagonia in February

Planning an 11-day Patagonia hiking trip covering El Chaltén, El Calafate, Torres del Paine, and Puerto Natales. Would love feedback on the itinerary, pacing, and whether we’re missing anything major.

Day 1 – El Calafate → El Chaltén
Arrive El Calafate
Transfer to El Chaltén
Overnight: El Chaltén

Day 2 – El Chaltén
Laguna Torre hike
Overnight: El Chaltén

Day 3 – El Chaltén
Laguna de los Tres / Fitz Roy hike
Overnight: El Chaltén

Day 4 – El Chaltén
Loma del Pliegue Tumbado hike
Overnight: El Chaltén

Day 5 – El Chaltén → El Calafate
Los Cóndores & Las Águilas viewpoints
Transfer to El Calafate
Overnight: El Calafate

Day 6 – El Calafate
Perito Moreno Glacier
Boat / nautical safari
Overnight: El Calafate

Day 7 – Argentina → Chile
Transfer from El Calafate to Torres del Paine
Overnight: Torres del Paine

Day 8 – Torres del Paine
French Valley hike
Overnight: Torres del Paine

Day 9 – Torres del Paine
Grey Glacier hike
Boat/navigation on Lake Grey
Overnight: Torres del Paine

Day 10 – Torres del Paine → Puerto Natales
Base of the Towers / Mirador Las Torres hike
Transfer to Puerto Natales
Overnight: Puerto Natales

Day 11 – Puerto Natales
Depart

Main hikes are therefore:
Laguna Torre
Laguna de los Tres / Fitz Roy
Loma del Pliegue Tumbado
Los Cóndores & Las Águilas
French Valley
Grey Glacier
Base of the Towers

Curious in particular whether three big hiking days back-to-back in El Chaltén and then French Valley + Grey Glacier + Base Torres on consecutive days feels reasonable, or whether you’d build in more weather/rest flexibility.

Also, if anyone is interested in joining, that would be amazing!

IOMI — The AI Wealth OS for Entrepreneurs

We're launching a new platform that allows users to connect/add their assets, accounts, etc, and then uses AI learning to make recommendations on where to invest your next dollar, etc based on the life and financial goals that you tell the platform. Before we spend a ton more money building it out, we want to do an objective gut-check.

I'm not promoting at all, but would love feedback from a few people about the platform design, ease of use, any key features that you'd love to see, what works well, what doesn't work well, etc.

I would appreciate this feedback very much, even if it's simple "it's great" or "I wouldn't use it because..."

Won't promote the website here, so if you're interested, shoot me a DM and I'm happy to send it over to you. Thanks in advance.

Tennis partner

Anyone around here want to play tennis regularly? I’m in Bellaire, but happy to meet at a location that makes sense. Schedule is pretty flexible.

I’m not a pro, not a beginner.

HISD School Choice churn in week 1 of school

We're at waitlist spot 4 for our top choice middle school (Pin Oak) as of this morning, and I've heard that those spots will churn throughout the first week as other kids no-show.

Does anyone know what that churn looks like in the first few days of school (it started today)? How realistic is this kind of movement in the next few days?

Anyone want to play tennis?

I live in Bellaire and want to find a regular tennis partner now that the weather will start to get better as we head into the end of summer. Would love to play evenings, weekends, even maybe mornings.

I'm in my 40s, in good shape, run a tech company, live in Bellaire.

[Hiring] Hiring for Investor Outreach

I need investment outreach help. What you'll be doing is:

  • Pulling together a list of angels/VCs/FOs - ideally in Texas, but anywhere in the US is fine. This is something Claude/GPT can pull together pretty quickly.
  • Doing the outreach to them with the specific lending needs in mind.
  • Setting up meetings, sending over material, keeping them warm and ensuring timeline communication

Notes:

  • We're looking to raise about $250K - $500K for this round
  • I will build the outreach templates, but you can feel free to tailor them as needed for specific investors
  • The company is a lender-of-record here in Texas that we're building to build and finance point-of-sale purchases for an existing retail merchant in Texas that is doing about $18M in annual revenue.

Think of it as... customer wants to buy something in one of our stores, and at the point of sale, they'll see an option to finance the purchase instead of paying for it right away. We will offer them a loan (for instance - 2 years, $1K down, $50/month payments), and then we'll service and own that loan. We need a seed investment to be able to offer those loans.

Reach out to me if you can do this. I need someone local here in the US, with excellent written and verbal presence, who can give this a real effort. The role will grow in time as the company grows.

When reaching out, please mention your hourly rate ($20 - $30/hr), send me your LinkedIn or online profile, and tell me about your professional background, and why you think you're a good fit.

Are there any AI professionals looking to get into public sector projects?

I'm launching an AI for public impact organization in Houston, and would love to connect with any techies/AI professionals in the Houston area.

I'm looking for people who are interested in public impact projects - things that improve public life for all Houstonians, or partner with nonprofits in the area, etc.

If interested, leave a comment here or DM me and happy to chat through your experience and what I'm building.

Tesla Destination Chargers around Houston

Where are the free Tesla destination chargers around Houston, specifically closer to the Galleria area? Any hidden ones that are mostly under the radar?

Would be great to be able to plug in for a bit and go to a nearby cafe to work for a couple of hours during the day.

Patagonia - Feb 14-26, 2027

I'm hiking/traveling Patagonia (both Chile and Argentina) in February 2027. Most of my hiking group can't make the trip, and I signed up through an organized provider that will have a guide as well.

I'm open to anyone joining me/us on this trip - it will be one to remember. It's roughly 12 days in total, and I can send you the full details if you're interested.

I'm 45, live in the US, C-level tech bro, experienced hiker, creator of dad jokes.
