Parents giving me ₹1.5 lakh if I clear my professional exam in November – already planned 65k, what should I do with the rest?

Parents said if I pass my important professional exam (November), they’ll give me ₹1.5 lakh to spend on whatever I want. Results come in January and my birthday is just 2 days after the exam, so it’s basically a big reward + birthday gift combo.

I’m currently on a break and this is pure motivation fuel for me.

Already decided on these:

2 watches → ₹15k total

2 pairs of Nike shoes → ₹20k

Clothes → ₹30k

That’s ₹65k locked in. Leaves me with around ₹85k still.

Please don’t suggest studying harder or investing the money — already have investments sorted and I just want fun spending ideas.

What would you guys buy/spend on with the remaining ₹85k?

Or if it was your 1.5L reward, how would you allocate the whole thing?

Looking for actual purchase ideas (gadgets, experiences, travel, whatever). Drop your suggestions!

No iphone or laptop ideas already got one

How is hostel friendship life actually like in colleges (IIM A/B/C, SRCC, FMS, GLIM, GIM, UBS etc)?

Do most of you get real friends in hostels or is it mostly just work + surface level hangouts?

Just wondering how it actually works in hostels of these places.

Considering all tiers — IIM A, B, C, GLIM, GIM, SRCC, FMS, UBS and similar.

Do you get randomly assigned roommates and somehow end up with solid friends?

Is the vibe more chill (late night talks, random plans, bonding) or is everyone just grinding cases/assignments/placements the whole time?

How easy is it to make those “real” friends who stick even after college?

Would love honest experiences from people currently in or recently out of these hostels.

Thanks.

My cousin rejected an arranged marriage proposal because of her past relationship. Now she's calling, crying, threatening him, and won't leave him alone?

My cousin is 27 years old, an IIM Ahmedabad graduate, currently working a ₹40 LPA job, and will likely join his family's business (₹200–400 crore turnover) in the next couple of years.

He's good-looking, fit, and focused almost entirely on work and health. We even made a Hinge profile for him at one point, and he got plenty of matches, but he never really pursued dating because he was always busy.

Recently, his parents found a girl through an arranged marriage setup. Everything seemed normal. The girl's family is also well-off and owns a business. She has two brothers and one sister (herself), and it was already made clear that the family business would eventually be handled by the brothers. My cousin didn't have any issue with that.

The families met, and then the two of them had a private conversation, which is standard in AM setups.

On the drive back home, my cousin told us he didn't want to proceed with the proposal. He simply said that they weren't compatible and that she deserved someone better. His parents didn't ask too many questions at the time.

Later that night, he told me that during their private conversation he learned about her past relationships. My cousin has never been in a relationship himself and prefers someone with a similar background. Whether people agree with that preference or not, that's what he wants for himself.

So instead of leading her on, he decided the respectful thing to do was reject the proposal and move on.

The rejection was communicated politely through the families.

Three days later, things got weird.

He started getting bombarded with calls and messages from her. She kept asking why he rejected her and saying things like "past is past." According to him, she even started threatening fake cases and sending inappropriate photos/messages trying to get his attention.

At first he ignored it.

Then it got stranger.

A few days later, while we were out having lunch, she suddenly showed up in person and wanted to talk to him privately. She kept asking why he rejected her and whether it was because of her past. My cousin finally told her honestly that he personally didn't want to marry someone with previous relationships and that he had already made his decision.

Since then, she still hasn't stopped contacting him.

My question is:

Was my cousin wrong for rejecting the proposal based on a preference that he himself follows?

Tier 2/3 agricultural land has honestly been one of the best investments in my family's case.

My dad bought around 11–13 bighas of agricultural land in South Gujarat across 3 separate plots. All three are within a few kilometers of each other. The purchase price was roughly ₹15 lakh per bigha years ago, and today similar land in the area is selling for around ₹45–50 lakh per bigha.

Around 400–500 mango trees are planted across the land. For the last few years we've been running it as a mango orchard. Annual income varies depending on the season, but generally ranges from ₹5–7 lakh, and even bad years still generate some income. Maintenance costs are relatively low compared to many other investments.

What I like about agricultural land is that it provides both cash flow and appreciation potential. In our area roads have improved significantly, residential houses are coming up, shops and flats have started appearing nearby, and major infrastructure projects are developing in the region.

Of course, nobody knows future prices, but personally I think the biggest gains may still be ahead if development continues over the next 7–10 years. Whether prices reach ₹1 crore+ per bigha or not is impossible to predict, but the combination of land appreciation and agricultural income has worked very well for us so far.

My Dream Is Pretty Decent Or Not?

I don't have the kind of money where I can just leave India and settle abroad, but I do have enough financial backing to live a comfortable and rich life here.

My dream is to complete my graduation, MBA, and professional certifications, then grab a decent job paying around ₹10–14 LPA.

I would like to rent a big house with my 2 friends if our plans align.

I also want to buy a luxury car worth around ₹70 lakh to ₹1.1 crore. Maybe ₹70–80 lakh would come from my dad's money, while the rest would be through a loan and some of my own savings.

As for buying a house, I'm not really concerned about that right now. That's something I'll think about much later.

For now, I just want to focus on the gym, eat a healthy non-vegetarian diet every day, stay in shape, drive a nice luxury car, manage my day-to-day expenses from my salary, and live peacefully.

For other needs, I would probably visit professional escorts 5–7 times a month and simply enjoy life.

Am I aiming too low, or does this sound like a reasonable life goal?

Unpopular opinion: Dad's money may end up being the biggest financial advantage our generation has?

Hear me out.

We are entering a future with:

rising cost of living inflation higher taxes expensive healthcare expensive housing increasing competition

Even today, getting into IITs, IIMs, top government jobs, CA, CAT, UPSC, etc. is insanely competitive. As more people enter the system, competition will likely get even tougher.

For the average person, I genuinely wonder how realistic it will be to:

buy a good house comfortably get married raise children support aging parents handle medical expenses

I'm not saying people shouldn't work hard.

I'm saying that for most average people, family wealth may become more important than ever.

I always joke with my dad:

"Jo kamana hai aapko hi kamana hai. Main jo kamaunga usse shayad sirf apna pet hi bhar paunga."

Fortunately, I was born into a financially secure family, so I'm not personally worried about survival. But I do wonder what the future holds.

Maybe I'm completely wrong.

Maybe AI creates more opportunities than it destroys.

Maybe population growth slows and competition becomes more manageable.

Maybe incomes rise faster than living costs.

But when I look around today, it feels like generational wealth is becoming a bigger advantage, not a smaller one.

Don’t Get Married – Love is a Scam, It’s All Transactional?

Bhai log, most of us are in our 20s. Please think seriously before jumping into marriage.

Love is not real — it’s mostly transactional. With rising cost of living, inflation, education fees, taxes and everything at peak levels, it’s becoming almost impossible to survive with a child or even a non-working partner.

Marriage offers no real benefits anymore. If fake alimony, dowry, or rape cases get filed against you, you’re finished — the system is heavily skewed.

My strong advice: Avoid marriage as much as possible.

Instead, rent a luxurious house with 3-4 homies, go on vacations together, enjoy life, and for physical needs, visit independent escorts (who work by choice) 4-7 times a month. Take care of yourself.

If you want kids, adopt or just get a dog. If you’re middle class or poor, your kid will probably be happier not being born into this rat race.

Think with your brain, not emotions.

Thoughts?

Love marriage btw? Still a problem

My brother is getting married soon and I'm conflicted about something.

In the past, he cheated in three different relationships and also visited prostitutes. Recently I asked him whether he had told his fiancée about any of this. He said it's his choice, that people would judge him for his past, and that since he isn't asking about her past, he doesn't think he owes her an explanation about his own.

From what I know, she seems like a genuinely good person. Of course I don't know everything about her life, but I would be surprised if she had ever cheated. She may have had relationships, she may not have, but that's not really the point.

My brother isn't a bad person today. He has matured in many ways and actually considers himself quite feminist. One thing that influenced his thinking is that he spent a lot of time on Reddit and other online spaces where he often saw women being encouraged and supported when choosing not to disclose parts of their romantic or sexual past to partners. His view is basically that if people support women keeping certain things private, then it shouldn't be a problem if he does the same.

His argument is that he has changed, that his past relationships are over, and that if he is not demanding details about her past, then he shouldn't be expected to disclose every mistake from his own.

What do you think? Is his reasoning fair, or is repeated cheating something different from simply wanting privacy about past relationships? Would your answer be different if there is a good chance the information never comes out?

Guys urgent advice needed

Guys, I’m currently in 2nd year BCom from a tier-3 college.

My profile will probably end up around 8/9/6 (college grading is strict, so 7+ CGPA is tough here).

I’ve already cleared CFA Level 1 and I’m confident I’ll clear Level 2 before graduation.

But honestly, I’ve realized I’m probably not made for the insane BLACKI/top IIM grind, and I’m okay with that. I respect people who can do it, but I want to stay realistic about my goals and strengths.

I’m fine with:

decent MBA college

strong ROI

finance-focused roles

starting salary around ₹12–13 LPA at age 23

I want colleges that are more percentile-driven and less profile-heavy.

The best realistic options I’ve found so far are:

UBS Chandigarh

SRCC GBO

Any other colleges like these with:

good ROI

decent placements (~₹11–13+ LPA)

achievable through strong percentile

Is it even logical for my friend to stress this much about his future?

He constantly worries about:

not getting a good job

society calling him a failure

not being successful enough

future financial insecurity

The stress has become so bad that he’s getting hair fall, anxiety, overthinking daily, and even stress-related health problems.

But financially his family is already very secure and he is also a single child.

Approx assets:

₹4.5–5 crore house in Nagoa/Orchard side

₹2 crore in gold

₹2 crore secondary house + plot

₹1.5 crore primary house

₹3 crore in mutual funds

₹1 crore in equities

Plus father currently earns around ₹40 LPA.

So overall family net worth is around ₹14–15+ crore.

From an outsider perspective, isn’t this already more than enough for a comfortable and secure life in today’s India?

I understand wanting ambition and career success, but is it logical to be THIS stressed when you already have such a strong safety net?
