BYD Seal underwhelming experience

I had BYD Seal U DM-i as a rental car in Italy, it was an underwhelming experience. There were 2 major issues specifically:

The hybrid system- The engine works on extremely high rpm, judging by how loud it gets. It feels like when you drive stick or in manual mode and you don’t shift up. To make matters worse, after researching (on the side of the road since I thought the engine was about to explode) turns out there is no rpm gauge so you can’t really monitor it and there is no way to change this behaviour (I tried playing with the driving modes but it didn’t seem to be making any difference). It was driving me nuts! So frustrating!

The cruise control system is absolutely terrible. lane keep assist waits until the wheels touch the lines and swerves violently back to the centre. Similarly, the system wasn’t able to keep distance from the car in front (often times it didn’t seem to detect the car in front at all). That resulted in many dangerous swerves, sudden uncalled for brakes slammed and ultimately me needing to take control very often. For reference, at home I have a Subaru and the Eyesight system is MILES better.

I was looking forward to having the option to buy one of the Chinese brands in Canada in the coming months, but honestly I won’t even consider it for at least several years.

Property owner in Verona, Italy demands cash payment off Verbo/Expedia platform. Should I comply?

I have a bit of an urgent question- I have a one night stay in Verona tomorrow (August 15, 2026). The place was booked through Expedia, which was then relayed to Verbo (without my knowledge, but that’s a different issue..). The booking on Expedia stated that payment was due on my arrival day. The owner of the property contacted me and asked for the money wired to them or cash on the day. I agreed tentatively to pay cash (but haven’t paid anything yet) and in return they provided the full information for self check-in, including details on how to arrive at the property, access code for the house etc and asked that I send them photos of our passports when we arrive (which is normal for self checkin in Italy).

should I proceed with the cash payment? Will Expedia/Verbo charge me automatically (and therefore I will be double charged)? My wife thinks we should just stay and refuse to pay cash and tell them to sort it out with Expedia/Verbo, but I am hesitant because we’ve communicated to paying cash. What should I do?

Air Transat flight to Rome is half full

I’m on Air Transat flight to Rome. It’s peak season, the time of the flight is ideal (overnight flight, landing at noon local time). This is my first flight with Air Transat, so I’m not sure if half full transatlantic flights is a regular occurrence, but it makes me wonder if this is financially sustainable. I’d like to hear other people experiences with them…

Where to get an AR-coated sapphire crystal installed on a Khaki Field Auto (Canada)?

Is there a reliable Canadian watchmaker that upgrades the crystal on Hamilton watches to AR coated , without messing up with the watch (water resistance etc).

I’m in Toronto, but don’t mind shipping the watch to get it done.

Thanks!

Looking for Restaurant Recommendations (Specific Requirements)

Hi there, I’m looking for a restaurant recommendations for a special occasion. This is what I have in mind:

* Total bill including food & drinks, tax and tip around $300 for 3 people

* Food needs to be a little refined. Not necessarily top tier chef food but more refined than a regular night out

* It’d be nice to have a patio or a pleasant sitting area

* Food style can be anything. We’re open minded

Thank you!

What do farmers consider when buying equipment?

I will preface by saying that I don’t know anything about farming, but I always found it fascinating.
Recently, I started getting videos on my YouTube feed of a guy who films large tractors doing work on the fields around the USA, and he narrates some information about the machinery.
I know that there has been a lot of push back and frustration by farmers towards John Deere for their predatory practices surrounding the maintenance of their tractors. The videos reminded me that there are other brands in the market (Case, International, New Holland, MF etc) and it got me thinking, do the other brands also have such restrictive maintenance rules? Is the ease of maintenance a consideration for a farm in choosing one brand over the other?

Apple Notes performance issues on MacOS

Hello everyone, I have an M4 MacBook Air with MacOS Sequoia 15.7.4. overall, I like quite a bit. However, Apple Notes has been super buggy.. every few weeks it freezes so I have to force quit, sometimes it consumes like 50% cpu, and make the machine burning hot and drains the battery too fast.

Is it a known issue, or just my bad luck?

The actual consumer demographic of the Apple Watch Ultra

I’ve had Apple Watch Ultra 2 for almost two years, and I love it.

I’ve been looking at people’s wrists for a while now and realized that despite Apple Watch Ultra being advertised as the watch for the outdoorsy adventurous crowd who dives, hikes and runs marathons, the majority of AWU wearers are middle aged men who have the money to splurge on a gadget, appreciate the larger screen (eye sight isn’t sharp as it used to be…) and the longer battery life.

That’s just my observation…

ETA- for all the folks who might have had their feelings hurt, I’m one of you guys too. No judgment here.

The Survivors

Watched The Survivors last night, all 6 episodes in one go. What an amazing show! I was a bit hesitant to commit time to it since it received only 6.6 on IMDb, but I’m glad I did. It has the perfect mix of mystery and the way it evolves until the eventual resolution, fantastic character development and the portrayal of the relationships between the characters and among the community as a whole. The acting is superb by the entire cast, without exception.

I’m no movie critic or expert in any way, but in my very humble opinion this mini series is nearly flawless.

Logi Options+ needs to be reinstalled every time the computer goes to sleep

Hello, I have Mx Argo with Logi Options+ on Windows 11. In the last week or so, every time the laptop goes to sleep, the app loses all its settings, as well as the ability to log into Logitech account to restore the settings (the login option in the app disappears). So each time I need to reinstall the app, log in , restore settings and Smart Actions.

I’m losing my mind honestly…is there anyone else that ran into this problem and has a solution?

Thanks!

Accomodations near ElectricForest

Hello everyone, My wife is about to turn 50 this summer, and asked if we could go to a multi-day music festival for the first time in our lives, so I found EF and this sub. I am not sure if we'd like to camp in a tent for the entire time, so my questions are- are there any alternative accommodations around the festival (even up to 30-45 minutes drive), and if so is there any parking options around? Thank you for your insights!
