Potentially Sensitive Content

I don't believe this should be considered NSFW, but I did want to make a TW for abortion>!.!<

Has anyone made an abortion and/or pro-choice page? This is something I would love to do in mine when I get started (in less than two days!)

I remember sitting in this room in my gown. They had notebooks and sketchbooks so you could write letters, draw pictures, etc. I did that and took a photo of my drawing. Unfortunately, the photo I took (that was in an old cell phone and didn't transfer), and every other tangible item I had from that very short pregnancy were lost in our house fire that took everything.

My story is unique. It was 100% neccesary, I had no options. It could/would have been deadly to continue. It would have destroyed my family. I was additionally using two forms of BC, and was with my fiance that I am still with. I know I don't have to justify it, but I always expect to catch some heat when bringing this subject up.

I am now also an intense pro-choice advocate (even though I always have been) and I want to become an abortion doula. I help pregnant people in support groups as much as possible, from simply being there emotionally to helping them find resources. I support them regardless of their “reason” and their choice. Some have chosen to continue their pregnancy and I support them 100% in that decision as well.

I am looking to make many different pieces of art regarding this subject. For example, one will be a diorama split in two. One side will show safe abortions. One side will show what bans and restrictions can (and do) cause. Each will be extremely detailed; even the safe side will have a “window” showing protestors in the distance, looking over a privacy fence and holding their absurd signs. The other side will show desperation. Mini wire coat hangers made from wire, tiny bottles of vitamins, excessive amounts of herbs, household cleaners, alcohol for numbing, and of course…red stuff. Potentially even a body bag and another window with emergency lights shining in.

But I would love to make a spread both about my personal experience, before and after, and potentially a split page similar to the diorama.

Has anyone done anything like this? Even just a pro-choice page? Any other ideas for it are appreciated, as well!

Thank you, and I apologize if anyone was offended or triggered.

The photo is the room I sat in right before the procedure. Even though I was only 6 weeks, I couldn't go through an MA. This picture (from Google) is more recent, so it isn't exact, but it is close enough for me to remember being there.

Easiest Way to Start

What is the easiest and cheapest way to start junk journaling? I've looked into it and I do not understand the binding. I know books can be used, but I expect our journals (my super creative 7-year-old daughter and I) to be quite thick with a lot of 3D type elements. I thought about binders, but I'm just not sure.

Any advice for a newbie?

Pics of her Valentines box and matching hat for attention. This would likely be a page theme, possibly with mini replicas of certain items, some of the “noodles,” etc.

E&J Special Edition?

I found these dogs attached to the basket. They also had the red ribbon and plush heart going from mouth to mouth. I cut it off because I'm using them for a little project. The tag says E&J and I've seen something about “puppies in a basket” and a “sweetheart/valentines edition” but they don't look anything like the photos!

I'm just curious about them! Google has been no help. Tags in last two photos!

Long Post, Newbie Needing Advice for Unique Situation

I have never done this before.

Here is the shortened story. My son is profoundly disabled. He has Mowat Wilson Syndrome, an extremely rare genetic disorder. He is 1 of only 500 in the WORLD with it.

Basically, he will only wear one specific pair of shoes, but they stopped making them and I can no longer afford to pay the extremely marked-up price on resale sites.

However, he LOVES Cars (the movie). It is his special interest. I think if he had similar shoes, but Cars-themed, he would wear them. He is 9, and I can't find any Cars shoes in his size, so my only option is to make them.

I have a pair of white canvas shoes and a pair of faux leather shoes. I have the leather paints/degreaser/finisher, GAC 900, and fabric markers.

Does anyone have tips? Advice? Anything?

Other questions:

I know some things need to be heat-set, but I don't have a heat gun or an iron. Are there other ways to heat set?

What about sealants? I want them to last, but I also need to stay affordable.

And just so everyone knows, I will NOT be selling. If I happen to be good at it, I would likely make some for other kids in his facility. Maybe an Elvis-inspired pair for the kiddo who LOVES Elvis!

Thank you so much in advance. ♥️

Photos are of the shoes I have to work with. Walmart cheapies and a thrifted pair of Cat and Jack.

Silly, just curious!

Does anyone know anything about these dogs/basket? I'm just curious.

They came attached to the basket. They also had a ribbon attached to their mouths, but I removed it because I'm using them for a little project. I tried to put it back to show how they looked origionally.

Each dog is about 10 inches long. I've seen “E&J Classic (Prima Collection) Dalmatian Puppies Basket Plush Set”** **but they don't look anything like that.

They also need to be cleaned. What is the best way to do that? I don't want to mess them up!

Realistic Beach and Lake Foam

What is the best way ro make a close-up beach with realistic water and waves/foam, similar to this photo? I don't have texture paste, but I do have lightweight spackle, clay, etc. I would prefer not to use resin but I want the foamy look! Any ideas or tips?

Thanks in advance!

Realistic Lake Beach and Water (No Resin)

I need to make something like this. I have the sand, but I'm questioning how to make realistic water and foam, like you are sitting on the water’s edge. I would prefer not to use any resin.

Any help is appreciated! Yes, it is a baby’s butt print. Please don't sexualize it and keep any negative comments to yourselves. It is for his grandma. I also know it isn't a diorama, but it will have similar elements, and I figured this would be a good place for advice.

This photo is the inspiration.

My troop (Brownies) will be making little bee watering stations from terracotta pots and saucers.

Some of them want additional items, like mini “pool floaties” and things like that to go in their watering station. (Adorable)

What can I use (if anything) to make these items that will be safe for the bees/butterflies?

Please enjoy this bee butt photo I took last summer for tax. I love me some bee butts.

This is how our Girl Scout “Rainbow Respect Garden” turned out!

Each girl had a color and a corresponding plant that represented a part of respect. It turned out super cute, especially since it was my first time making mini plants and flowers! The hydrangeas were one of my favorites and could easily be turned into earrings!

My only complaint is that I ran out of time for the compost bin. I wanted to make it out of wood. It is where we put our weeds (mistakes) so we can learn and “grow” from them, to make our “garden” even better!

I made some tiny grapes for a Girl Scout project thing.

I'm going to gave to glue the one on the bottom left to another one…

I'm working on a project for my Girl Scout troop. They are 7-9 years old. How do I (fairly quickly and simply) explain what a compost bin is, what it produces, and how it is beneficial to a garden?

I also have to make a mini one (1/6 to 1/8 scale). Should I make it out of wood and screen? Google isn't being helpful because there are so many types. I just want one that will be recognizable as a compost bin. I will be filling it with items like old lettuce and other veggies, egg shells, newspaper, etc. (all fake, of course).

Are any of the following better than the other? I have all of the things necessary to make them. The girls will be putting fake weeds (representing learning from mistakes and making our “garden” grow better) in it, as well. Is a lid necessary?

I'm a beginner and don't know much about compost bins or composting. I'd like to start a real one soon, but that is something for another post. 😅

Thanks in advance!

I want to try my hand at needle felting, but in the cheapest way possible. How can I do this? What exactly do I need? Do I need to buy a whole kit? I plan to mostly work on mini items, like very small animals for “Pocket Pets” for my Girl Scout troop.

Any tips are very much appreciated, especially those that cost very little. This is all coming out of my pocket as our troop has negative funds.

Pics of examples of what I'm wanting to do for the needle felting, and inspo for the “Pocket Pets.”

My kiddo spilled an entire can of Beefaroni (yuck) on our carpet. I'm devastated. What can I do? I have a Little Green Machine if that helps. I have kept it wet, I truly don't know what to do and I think I made it worse with the LGM. 😭

I'm not sure if I made them better or worse? I needed them to be darker and more sturdy, which took numerous coats of Mod Podge and paint. I'll probably add some highlights and things, too.

Also, don't mind the slightly phallic one in the bottom left corner, I will attach it to another bunch. 😅

Now I need to work on the trellis and leaves! I'm going to use a fan-style trellis (inspo in the third pic) because I feel like it will be easiest to make. It will probably be white.

I have to add these items to my “planter box.” It is 10x8 inches. I cannot find a good placement because I want to keep the rainbow order (if possible) but the taller items, like the grape trellis and tomato plant with a cage are going to look weird. I can remove the pink item (bird bath) if necessary, though I would love to keep it.

I also need to add a compost bin.

What do I do? I can make the sunflowers short, but the trellis behind the tomato plant is going to look strange unless I keep it short. I also don't like the lettuce behind the sunflowers, even if I make them short.

This is a rough draft for placement. Does anyone have better ideas? I'm panicking!

u/Domsmom112116 — 24 days ago

I'm genuinely not even sure where they came from or what they are, but I have around 15-20 of them. I'll add a picture for scale and up-close pictures so you can see the two different sides. They are plastic, so I could use a Dremel on them, etc. They are just barely larger than a quarter.

Extra points if it is garden, Cars/Radiator Springs, or medical related!

Has anyone ever done a pro-choice/reproductive health/abortion clinic-themed room or pieces? Even just medical themed rooms or doctors offices would be helpful!

Any advice is also appreciated!

I am going to paint this play table. I know I need to sand it, but what kind of paint should I use? I have heard to use a “water-based urethane alkyd enamel.” I don’t even know what that is.

For more info, I’m going to turn it into a Cars playset for my disabled child. With that being said, the paint needs to be durable and easy to clean. I want it to be black, but the top will be also be painted with acrylics. So I assume I will need a topcoat? Will I need primer, too?

What is the cheapest way to do this with the best outcome for our specific needs?

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!
