The anxiety of competitive, ranked gaming.

The anxiety of competitive, ranked gaming.

I feel like many gamers across many different subreddits of competition relate with this. My experience is with Warcraft 3, Street Fighter and Super Smash Bros. Melee, but the fundamentals of online gaming stress is real.

Do you struggle to hit the ranked button? Do you get queue blue? Let me know!

Warcraft 3 has been dying for 24 years, fellow moths.

Altar of Champions has got this gaming brain thinking about casual competitive and how important I think it is.

We should encourage entertaining types of embrace the best genre ever made. Not for any serious pressure or need, but for the plain reality of organic esports community being something that exist within us.

Tl;DR (or watch): the dead game idea is largely discussed by players who don’t realize how relatively small their own circle of influence needs to be in order to keep niche communities afloat for decades.

When you aren’t the strongest micro player, strategy can save you.

As i continue learning Warcraft 3 and furthering my obsession with the game, i’ve noticed how important making the correct decisions are, even when compared with successfully executing mechanical tricks like surrounds, body blocks, micro saves etc.

i learn the most from games where one bad TP or a failed expo attempt is the biggest influence. As someone who tries to raise my MMR, watching these games back make me realize my macro needs work and i’m saved often by superior decision making, not superior clicking.
