I know, the Matt texture is a huge part of what make these pop but it’s extremely easy wearing and I’m not a “ chips and dings are just character” kind of owner, i restore guitars so preservation is equally high on my priorities

My question is has anyone had any experience clear coating a colour change finish, and ideally one of the axion series? If you add clear to chrome of vanta black it fucks up the whole show, but there’s not a lot of info out there on how it affects these finishes

The photos speak for themselves, Id already faced the fact these were way out of my price range until this fell in my lap for under $1000AUD completely unmarked and hardly played
And my one take is that it’s perfect in every single way, and easily one of if not the most striking guitar I’ve ever seen

I’m all for a bit of fuck you to Gibson or Fender but this is just rude

When I first got my old epi Les Paul I loved it, and don’t get me wrong I never ceased to but as the years went on and my guitar collection grew its clunky awkward nature and uncomfortable edges started to wear pretty thin.
Luckily while I may not be the best with a sanding block and rasp file, I’m certainly not the worst.
I’ve contoured the body to match mine, taken a couple of millimetres off the back of the neck for better playability and sanded the heel back as far as I could without eating into any of the neck joint.
(And done away with that horrible epi headstock shape for something a bit more Gibson looking)

The result is fucking magical, it locks into my lap, and everything flows into everything else the way a well designed guitar should.
Can not fucking wait for the gold hardware and EMGs to show up

I know, if it seems too good to be true it is. $75 for a set of EMG 81-85s is exactly that. But who knows maybe I’m the first guy ever to end up not getting stung.
If they are I’m gonna wear it because I bought two sets, even if they’re fake (which I think they must be) I have a couple of guitars with extremely mediocre pickups and I’ll be surprised if these are any worse.

Anyway what do you guys reckon, and aside from the build quality being glaringly Chinese and them sounding like shit are there any obvious signs they’re knock offs for me to look for when they show up?

To anyone who’s played LTDs EC256 it will be no surprise to see this post, I’ve played guitars 3 times the price that weren’t half as good in every way.
Solid build, beautiful neck, A+ QC, insane resonance, fuck I could go on all day.
That crew absolutely nailed this guitar, I’d recommend it to just about anyone.
(For comparison, profile shot is with an Ibanez RG7620, Fender Strat (contour body) and Ibanez S470

Only thing left to do now is the Floyd rose flush mount 🔥

Got lucky enough to trip over this a few months ago, she was sitting in the music shop collecting because the cork-like top had collected a dent or scratch just about every time it’d been picked up.

I know there’s a bit of a divide between the “just play it” crew and the people who have an autism level loathing for chipped instruments, I’m 100% the latter.

So I got to work sanding, gave danish oil a crack and it looked alright but I still didn’t dig having suck a soft wood unsealed out in the open.

Eventually I thought fuck it I’ll do things properly for once, and spent the next 4 weeks applying and sanding about 25 coats of acrylic lacquer (small town and I’m not waiting weeks for nitro)

So here we are, this is what the poplar top should’ve looked like in the S770
