Origin Log: Plasmiba

Plasmiba (Plaz-me-buh)

The largest known single celled organism, the Plasmiba population is vast and ever growing. A thick cell wall envelopes the cytoplasm that makes up the internals of the fluid folk, ever churning and storing environmental information in its reflective mucus. A sort of proto-consciousness forms in the visual memory stored within the translucent nucleus, passed down to their offspring with each and every split. Living effectively forever, Plasmiba see each other as an extension of self, procreating via fission, their children literally a version of themselves.

Hailing from a lush and fruitful planet, it wasn’t until the globe’s sudden and awful desolation by the hands of a precursor species, that the Plasmiba were able to rise up. With the landscape now a tomb of its predecessors, the splitting cells were able to grow into their new living space unabashed. Without their knowing, another species on their planet flourished with the new ecology, or lack thereof. The Blattelans, a lesser species, rose from the ashes, and in an unfortunate turn, began hunting and farming the Plasmiba for the betterment of their own peoples.

The Plasmiba did not waver. What consciousness they had gained in years of shared knowledge knew that the Blattelans were only ensuring their own survival. It was this deeply ingrained, almost to a fault, understanding nature that slowly swayed the Blattelans away from their xenophobic ways. Witnessing the flourish of a together peoples in the Plasmiba and contrasting it with their own species' warring and fragmented status, the Blattelans  morphed culturally with great effort and found peace.

Combined, the two species created a symbiotic bond, sharing knowledge and culture. Together they were able to synthesize a new food source, an offshoot of Plasmiba cytoplasm, reverse engineered from their waste byproducts, called Proteus. The imaging creatures also developed numerous modes of communication, their primary being a slight enveloping of their counterpart. They would send colorful signals through their body and flash images in the subject’s mind. Grandest of all was the propulsion systems created with Proteus used as fuel, just good enough to get them to the stars.

They traveled far and wide, interfacing with life as they went. But it wasn’t until they happened upon a solar system teeming with life, organized and well sustained. They had discovered the home system of the Cortratus, and by happenstance, so had another space traversing collective, the Humans. Together, after some initial hostility, the three nations, four species, codified an intergalactic Federation they called The Scinillian Pact. With each nation bringing their own pillar to the treaty, the Plasmiba exemplified the striving for a more together universe. The Plasmiba hold the only seat that has never changed within the council, the Perpetual Custodian, the very same Plasmiba leader that founded The Pact.

Their affections and dispositions towards others carry the same weight of their feelings for each other. All beings are an extension of themselves, and in a cruel universe, they can often be punished for their positivity. Upon the red desert landscape of Xanoroet, Plasmiba kind can be seen putting themselves into harm's way for the betterment of others, even when unnecessary. Despite their docile nature, the single celled folk can be monstrous in their own right, doling out physical damage to those they personally deem dangerous to collective life, sometimes even The Pact itself.

Origin Log Post: Radonis

Radonis (Ray-dawn-iss)

Clumped excitable gaseous molecules found upon the Gas Giant Fielug III, the Radonis species lived for eons in the swirling pool of air. The clouds of sentient life were community driven, creating a society with no infrastructure to speak of.

Their origin is contested even amongst their own scholars, but their physical make-up is mostly a combination of noble gasses sending electrical signals amongst each other acting as neurons. The clouds of consciousness spend their days socializing and intermingling with their familial peoples, often shirking responsibilities.

Discovered by Scinillian Pact drones during the last quarter of Communal Cycle (CC) 340, the Radonis peoples were grossly overlooked in the initial surveillance of the planet. Deemed the Great Dissipating, the pacts unmanned crafts flew in and out of the Radonis dense atmosphere. In a mear single turn of the planet, hundreds of thousands of beings were atomized.

Miraculously, the gaseous folk proved to be overly understanding of the tragedy or perhaps overly forgetful. As their molecules suggest, their energetic and flighty nature proved they were more focused on the prospect of discovery. But even a tragedy of this proportion was hard to overcome for some, creating some division amongst the people. Yet, despite it all, the cumulous folk put forth great effort to learn common communication, and in turn enacting a Pact apology. Pact scientists went on to develop specialized suits to allow a Radoni to interface with the physical world in a more actualized way and freedom of migration across pact territories.

Despite a lack of written genealogical tradition, when assigning surnames to the Radonis an average individual could identify a familial connection with a massive quantity of other living members of their species, and could easily recount the branching heritage that connected them. Of about 13 million living Radonis, the Pact only assigned 11 surnames.

The majority of the living peoples reside upon their home planet of Fielug III, leaving the outside worlds for only the most daring of them to explore. Their integration into the Pact’s culture was nearly seamless, but their severe lack of understanding pertaining to commerce or ownership led to some being adjudicated under Pact law. Many even widely picking up the use of a “medicinal” inhaler called Caledonix, the combination of these behaviors has given the Radonis a bit of a “rebellious adolescent” reputation.

Seeing a Radoni out in the charted territories likely means you will be meeting an adrenaline junkie incarnate, or at the very least one of the most excitable explorers known. With the current rush of fortune seekers to Xanoroet keep your eyes peeled for a Radoni thrill seeker itching to make their mark on the world. Where there is gas, there is great adventure!

Origin Log: Sasquathids

Sasquathid (Sass-kwa-thid)

Towering primate adjacent bipeds, the Sasquathid kind are draped in mystery. Covered in coarse shaggy hairs with patches of scaly hide, these beasts boast a great strength, but surprisingly a knack for subterfuge as well. Their home planet, rumored to be covered completely with dense forests, has gone completely undiscovered in their species history, and it wasn’t until their sudden arrival as laborers for hire in Pact territory that their presence was known.

Led by a hidden committee of robed elders, only known as the Vporakko Grove. From a deep and unseen part of their planet, the institution guides their people with unknown policy, and a shrouded hand. Even an everyday Sasquathid does not know the dealings of the Grove, but with blind and unwavering trust, live their lives with faith that the elders pave their path. Highly spiritual, these cryptic beasts often chalk up short falls and triumphs to active Grove participation in their journey.

As the Grove has dodged all contact by Scinillian Pact officials, the ape folk are technically barred from freedom of immigration amongst the known territories. However, proving to be invaluable laborers, Sasquathids scatter many worlds over as unregulated tradesmen. Often working for little pay, claiming their wealth will come when the Grove wills, they still manage to be worth multiple workers at once. Another way around their travel restrictions is to create commerce themselves, and such is the case for Gully Christo himself, the founding namesake of one of the largest corporate super powers in the known galaxies.

With a majority of Sasquathids now born off of their home planet, a cultural schism has begun to form between the newer generations and their elders. A general disbelief of the Grove’s overreach and scope, younger Sasquathids have turned towards forging their own fates, and veer away from good honest work. With their physical attributes and ability to hide in plain sight, the outer born peoples turn to intimidation or other various illegal activities, imposing their will upon the smaller origin species. Despite their lack of belief in the Grove, an overarching mysticism still inherits the culture of all Sasquathids

Rushing to the wild frontier of Xanoroet, the mysterious peoples seek a glory provided by the Grove, or a freedom to play in the red sands as they see fit. A Sasquathid you meet out in the wastes will likely be poetic and monotone, waxing upon the awe of the free planet. With the discovery of technologies more ancient than the Vporakko Grove itself, the opportunity to create prosperity for their people arrives in two forms, discovery, or violence.

Origin Log: Roetians

Roetians (Row-shins)

Dust mite-like creatures with long drooping tentacles and ever hardening carapaces, the Roetians are the local sentient species to the red dust planet called Xanoroet. Requiring very little sustenance and living for hundreds if not thousands of Local Cycles at a time, the molluscoid beings are a mysterious and elusive group.

Their small but incredibly zealous tribe called The Clans of Golrod move under the surface of Xanoroets dunes with one overreaching mission, protect the sacred Precor sites at all costs. As Roetians grow older and more sedentary, their patches of hard shell grow thicker and expand to cover more of their soft translucent skin. The most fanatical and terrifying of the Roetian people, called Immortals, act as an equal to an entire platoon of soldiers and guard some of the hidden vaults for all time.

Their protective nature isolates them from the incoming interlopers, and their worship of the ancient places sets their ire directly upon the other factions on the planet looking to make a play for the treasures within. Sabotaging and thwarting much of these superpowers' efforts from the shadows, with Precor related tech in hand they prove to be a major thorn in the planet's gold rush. With a history clouded in obscurity, and an unknown reason for seeking the protection of the Precors, the secret of the vaults surely lies with them.

If not for a schism of ideals, the Roetians would not be intermingled with the other species of origin at all. A small contingent of The Golrod broke away from the purely traditional core, espousing a necessity to take the incoming settlers under their care. Together they formed a bustling frontier site, the overlooking township of Cypress. Now a few generations removed from its founding, Roetians that integrated into diverse society have lost some of their shared history predating the planet’s colonization, forging a new story for their peoples.

Strong willed and often seen as unbending roots in the soil, Roetians you meet in the planet’s known settlements are bastions of the Xanoroet Militia’s purpose. Acting as guides or overseers, their quiet and solemn demeanors can be grating to some or seen as aloof to others. Living long past their peers, the crustacean bugs can’t help but act a little superior towards the other beings around them, but ultimately care deeply for all of Xanoroet and its inhabitants.

Origin Log: Ziotans

Ziotans (Z-eye-oh-tins)

Short and stout grey skinned globe heads, Ziotans are far and away the most scientifically gifted of the known origin species. Their looming single eye which is set deep in their bone crested skull darts quickly around as the little grey beings judge you scrupulously.

Acting as natural galactic scouts, the Ziotans are the first peoples to reach space relative to the other sentient origins. Using their primitive space fairing technology the gifted minds cascaded from planet to planet cataloging and researching other life from afar. Their sentiment quickly turned when the first scientist returned home with a live specimen.

Quickly transitioning to experimentation, their research eventually unified and their common goal led to an astonishing development in technology, long before any other species even knew which way was up. Computational Consciousness was made true after countless Local Cycles spent dissecting and mapping subjects' minds, puzzle piecing them together as they saw fit. Reverse engineered, this sprawling and physical code was supplanted into mechanical chassis and given autonomy amongst the Ziotans, becoming what we call Constructoids.

Together the equal peoples founded the First Galactic College, a planetary research center eventually discovered by Scinillian Pact explorers in Communal Cycle 157. The Ziotans, amoral to a fault, became front runners in genetic engineering and conscious coding. With their research expedited greatly by the influx Pact funding it was only a matter of time before things went sideways for the gaggle of grey men.

The First Galactic College came under massive scrutiny in CC 352 when it was discovered that all research teams had began focus on a single goal, genetic perfection. The Ziotans had fallen into habits of old, abducting and testing on all known life with little to no regard for their wellbeing. They were attempting to synthesize the attributes and features they had deemed superior, but before a perfect subject could be formed the Pact stepped in claiming their research to be an affront to their moral standings.

With the discovery of technology even predating them upon Xanoroet, many researchers or other Ziotans seeking knowledge rushed to the little ringed planet for answers. Although not each Ziotan is as cut throat in the pursuit of knowledge, most find internal reward through learning and spreading knowledge acting as intergalactic teachers. Though stern and serious about it, a certain warmth can be felt when a Ziotan has your attention.

Origin Log: Cerebiotic

Cerebiotic (Sara-biotic)

Once a highly exclusive procedure reserved only for the most rich and powerful, the introduction of Jar Braining to the masses was an overall success. Pioneering the process, Tydeus Inc. discovered immortality.

Extracting the cerebrum from any living individual and soaking it in a proprietary jelly allowed the patient’s brain to remain intact well beyond its years. It was the subsequent discovery of a neuron discharge reader that could be housed in a robotic body that propelled an individual to practically live forever.

Originally a procedure only for the most powerful business leaders in the known galaxies, the notion that power hungry peoples would never have to relinquish their post was just too enticing. Once word had gotten out that functional immortality was achieved, The Gully Christo Corp acquired Tydeus Inc. in a hostile takeover.
After some tweaks to the procedure, truncating the steps necessary, Gully Christo released the Cerebiotic medical procedure to the public as a paid service.

Still mostly used in the galactic corporate world, many who shell out for the service partake to extend their ability to rise the ranks. Others seek it out as a last ditch effort to live beyond their years, afraid of death. As all things, however, it comes with a cost. Their loss of physical identity often alienates them from their original species of origin, so despite their lack of organically created culture they often congregate together and find community among their own, obtuse as they are.

Although Cerebiotics are robotic in nature, they differ from their Constructoid counterparts greatly. With a memory of corporeal feeling, and the overall shortened Jar Braining process, there is something lost in the conversion. Whether it’s an apathy gained from the notion of living indefinitely, or something of the soul lost, Cerebiotics are often cold and calculating, focused mostly on their own place in the world.

Sometimes their place amongst the stars involves research or exploration. As ever living beings, their aptitude for cataloging and being living history journals has carved out a perfect spot for them on Xanoroet. Where there is knowledge, power, or community to be gained, a Cerebiotic is surely headed that way.

Origin Log: Human

Humans

Fleshy soft bodied primates, Humans are amongst the weakest physically of all current known sentient life. However, despite their appearance near the bottom of the proverbial food chain, humans are one of the most reckless and dangerous in the galaxies at large. Their hot tempers and inability to emotionally regulate like other civilized peoples make them well known in the worst ways.

All current known Human lineage can trace their origin back to a single Colony Flagship, the Indomitable II, after fleeing from another planetary immolation. The Indomitable II scattered the known and unknown galaxies with humanity, an undertaking too wide for the people’s logistical capabilities. Majority of these colonies were lost to the fledgling Human’s communication capabilities, and only now with the Pact’s combined efforts do they reclaim their peoples.

During their pilgrimage of colonization, the Human flagship discovered the home planet of the Cortratus, Scinillia. Upon meeting the state craft experts, the sporadic, naive Human nation and another recently discovered interloping space collective, formed the Scinillian Pact, ushering in a new age and a new galactic superpower. Still serving as the Human capital, the Indomitable II orbits Scinillia’s moon, Una.

Each of the three founding members brought their own specialties to the table, and without a doubt the Humans provide their aptitude for military doctrine and destruction. Their violence, generally enacted upon their own peoples, when pointed at other targets proved to be the brutality the Pact needed. With the majority of Humans in the Pact being void born, their natural expertise in naval superiority have made them the precise tool needed to be the Federations most notorious utensil for warfare.

Neither the most technologically advanced peoples, Humans always tend to be on the cutting edge of advancement in destruction technology, usually as a detriment to themselves. Pioneers in planet cracking technology, their willingness to maim and tear for grudges sake have painted a target on their backs. But with their tendencies for cataclysm comes an unabashed love of the fleeting, namely the yearning to write their names amongst the stars.

Glory seekers, those looking to prove themselves, or newly discovered colonists of old flock to Xanoroet to see the new world and put their permanent human stamp upon it. Humans you meet might not always reflect their destructive nature, however, instead usually acting upbeat and industrious, but prone to explosions in moments of passion. No matter their demeanor, watch yourself around a human, they won’t let you cross them twice.

Origin Log: Cornex

Cornex

Small goo bodied pouches, the Cornex expand their physical capabilities with long spindly tendrils that extend from their torso to grasp and create appendages. Often corporealizing with stones or rubble, the snail like creatures prove time and time again to be of the most resilient in the galaxy.

Making up one of the most powerful sovereignties in the known territories, The Grand Cornex Hegemony is a militaristic super power known for their strict honor code, vast ground invasion forces, and their general disdain for other species. Marauders in the vacuum of space, the Hegemony are the antithesis to the Scinillian Pact, pillaging and enslaving as they traverse the known universes.

Cornex are always abandoned at birth, a ritual to prove their strength and aptitude before joining the legion. These infantile Cornex must find their own way as they survive whatever harsh biome they were left in. Often returning to the ranks of their people with makeshift bodies of dirt or organic materials, they quickly fall into the hierarchy of the Cornex Military machine. Coronations known as promotions see a Cornex who has earned the honor get new materials to build their body with; carved stone, welded metal, and at the higher ranks the Porcelorian earn a gaudy hand carved white ivory, almost resembling porcelain.

Although the ranks of The Grand Cornex Hegemony are unfeeling bastions made for the brutality of conquest, some fledgling slugs do not find their way back to their peoples. Cornex can be found through the civilized planets, occasionally defectors, but often adopted or saved runts. Either by nature or nurture these Cornex don’t often carry the same outer species resentment that their Hegemony brethren hold, but naturally still embody the “all is earned” mantra.

With an inability to communicate audibly using their gelatinous body, they developed an aptitude for sound creation with their chosen bodies. Usually a grinding guttural symphony, their voices can be seen as off putting, but a wholly unique signature can be heard in every Cornex speech.

On the surface of the small red desert orb Xanoroet, seeing a Cornex likely means your interfacing with a Hegemony enforcer, but a few stragglers from the outer reaches of space may have found their way there to make their own personal journey. No matter what kind of Cornex you meet, a strong, self assured individual is sure to present themselves.

Origin Log: Scrofans

Scrofans

Boar like bipeds with a hankering for the warm touch of radiation, Scrofans are a space fairing people with a society based on mutation. Discovered shortly after the  Scinillian Pact’s creation, the Scrofan people proved to be master marketeers. Their discovery and manufacture of synthetic radiation in crystal form created a fast growing medical trade and a heavy Pact reliance on it.

The Scrofans, however, rarely used these synthetics for medical practices on their own people, instead falling quickly into a society based on its cosmetic changing effects. Obsessed with the boils and warts created by the hot glow of these isotopes, a societal rat race ensued, a race to see just how far a being could take the mutational changes. Their typical tusks taking on new shapes, and their brown hides and hairs creeping towards a slightly luminescent green.

The obsession only grew as commerce flooded the Scrofans home worlds of Phezine Prime and its lush moon Gia, marking a golden age for the civilization. Lasting roughly 40 Communal Cycles, things began to fail when prices rose sharply on the Synth-Rads. A class based cultural divide was gouged out between a hyper vain media class, and the working echelon, resulting in a rebellion.

With the commercial government overthrown, and the media class banished to Gia, what remained quickly collapsed into anarchy and sent a shock around the known territories. With the Pact’s primary medical resource dried up essentially overnight, their hand was forced, stepping in and imposing martial law. The integration of the Scrofans was not a short or clean process, but eventually they were folded into the Pact’s ranks.

Despite the casting off of class divide, the Scrofan folk are still culturally vapid and yearn for the mutations that their creation breathes upon them. Intermixed throughout the galaxies, the boar adjacent beings are proud peoples with often imposing statures. Not often outwardly self obsessed, they tend to still internally deeply care about their appearance, and have a knack for showmanship and social interaction amongst peers.

Not all Scrofans care only about looks, in fact many care about status via accomplishment. Some of the most competent naval conscripts, many of these peoples look for betterment in discovery or conquest. From around the galaxies Scrofans flock to Xanoroet for a possibility of riches or glory, either fueling their corporeal or internal egos.
