some of the mountain goats references that infested my sophomore high school sketchbook in 2018

First picture: Family Happiness lyrics and a character I made based off of Chino Love Song 1979 (???)

Second: Family Happiness again

Third: Lab Rat Blues

Fourth: Going to Palestine lyrics (still one of my faves)

Fifth: My Favorite Things

This is around the time where I was really starting to explore my musics tastes. There are lots more little goats references littered throughout that I didn’t include, and other artists I loved— mostly Leonard cohen, Silver Jews, Fiona Apple, and Regina Spector. This is around the time where I was really starting to explore my musics tastes.

I didn’t include all of them because most are illegible and some are embarrassing lol.

Cake, canned chickpeas, canned green beans

My car has been stalling out so I have been having to bike to work.. which is 15 miles away. I can bus half of the way there in the evening (I work nights) but then I have to bike the full hour and 15min back in the dark at 4am. This is my broke meal (cake from work) because I woke up too late to cook anything. It actually slaps.

What is this skull from? [Florida]

My dad sent me this picture, unfortunately it’s not the best for identifying and it’s the only one he got. Still, does anyone know what this is from? My gut reaction is domestic dog but I know little about bone identification

CMV: it is almost always acceptable to rehome a dog.

Time and time again, when someone even suggests being overwhelmed and wanted to rehome their dog, some people will immediately be disgusted and direct anger at the owner. I frequently see comments saying things like “you failed your dog”, “why did you even get a dog”, “you should never own any pets again”, “I would never get rid of my dog, they’re family”.

I used to be in this camp, and I understand the knee-jerk reaction to think it’s unethical, immoral, and cruel to give away a pet you’ve already committed to. HOWEVER, some people/pet pairings just don’t end up working, and having a dog is a decade+ of your life. There are times when both the owner and the dog would have a higher quality of life if the dog is placed in a home that can properly meet their needs.

There are lots of reasons to rehome; extreme behavioral issues (such as separation anxiety, which is a spectrum but can get insanely bad), high energy, unable to trust completely around your children or other pets, extreme reactivity, unable to pay for the dogs care (grooming, food, vets). Rarely is it out of apathy; for many pet parents, rehoming is the absolute last resort and they anguish over the decision. And if it IS out of apathy, well, that dog should probably be placed with people who do actually care.

You’re not obligated to live in fear. You’re not obligated to live in constant anxiety. This is not to say you shouldn’t put effort in— the opposite, actually; once you commit, and unless something drastic happens (ie a bite), you are obligated to at least try. Try training, management, etc. it’s also worth mentioning that shelters are notorious for lying and under-playing behavioral issues to try and get dogs adopted, which leads to so many issues owners might not be aware of when they adopt.

Rehoming a dog is almost always an acceptable decision, provided it is done ethically.

Glacier lives for swimming and sticks!

He’s going to be 7 in a month 😭 he typically has a great recall— except for when it’s time to leave the water lol

Parking lot at my favorite local trail is covered in bits of confetti.

I have true hate in my heart for the people that do this kind of thing. Like tf?? Why? The pretty big and parks like 40 cars btw and the whole place was littered with them.

Served eviction court papers for nonpayment. Is there hope? [OR]

UPDATE: Called the office and they said it was dropped since we paid!! Yess!!! So much of my stress is gone. It was a 30 second phone call with someone who works at this company. I was so worried and preparing for the worst, so I was kind of blindsided and forgot to ask her to email a receipt or proof of dismissal or something so I can document it. I will be emailing her today. Thanks for the advice!

We were going through a rough patch and did something really stupid and paid our June rent on June 28th this month. We didnt hear anything from our landlord until the 29th, other than a text earlier this month telling us if we didn’t pay by the 4th there would be late fees. Today, the 29th, we got a notice on the door that included the 13 day pay notice and court summons. if it matters, first time seeing the 13 day notice). We paid June rent the day before on the 28th and will pay July on the 1st, no issues there. So right now, i do not owe them any money, my balance balance with them is 0.

However, I did break the lease technically by paying so late. We have court on the 13th next month. If I tell the judge we’re all payed up, and ask for it to be dismissed, can we still be evicted? This is the 8th month we’ve been here and it’s the only month we’ve accrued any late fees too.

I’ll be honest, I’m absolutely terrified we will lose our home and have a record. Am I fucked?

EDIT: apologies, forgot to mention: the court summons was dated 6-26, so two days before we paid. I also looked through all our mail and couldn’t find a notice to pay and they definitely didn’t talk to either of us.

EDIT: they emailed the notice to me. I don’t check my email often so I didn’t see it. Shit :(

30mg edible and a 2am walk through an old cemetery, followed by a salmon bowl, pringles, and cherry Garcia icecream

Hooooo boy. I was nervous about walking thru a dark cemetery at night, thinking I might get paranoid, but it was actually so calm and peaceful and I will be going there more often.

I’ve slept 2 1/2 hours in the last 48 hours and I’m fed up

Title says it all. I set aside 8+hours to sleep and those 2 1/2 hours were not good at all, just 30-45min spurts.

My body hurts, my brain fog is awful, I stumble over my words talking to people at work, I make mistakes, get lightheaded, I’m so tired.

I can’t even call out sick because if I rack up any more points in their arbitrary points system I will be terminated. Doesn’t matter that I stay late almost every day to help. Doesn’t fucking matter because I’ve been over 4 minutes late too many times and if I am late/take too long of a break/call out I am in jeopardy of losing a job I very much need. I took 20mg melatonin (ridiculous amount and I also know more =/= better) 3 hours ago and wide awake :) ofc I’m pmsing too, so I’m feeling it even harder. I just want to sleep. The anxiety about not sleeping/counting the hours makes it worse. I’m not looking for recommendations, I’m doing it all. I do have caffeine but I’ve always had caffeine and I finish my 200mg drink at 1am (I work 8pm-5isham typically) and it’s currently 12:36, it’s been 11 hours. I have to leave for work in 7 hours and I am so fucking over this. If I do finally manage to fall asleep waking up will be miserable. 3 months of working nights and I feel like it’s slowly killing me. I have always had a little trouble sleeping but nothing like this.
