Daughter with an eating disorder: any advice?

Wise older women, my daughter has an eating disorder. She’s 22 and sought help this spring, entering a day program that did a good job. She was in college at the time and managed to work the program and stay in school. She graduated last spring and has now moved home with us. She starts a new day program Monday.

It’s really hard to see her like this. I underestimated how emotional it would be, living with her while she’s still struggling. And yet of course I am so very proud of her and all the work and dedication she’s doing to get better.

What advice do you have about living with an adult child with an eating disorder? Thanks for any wisdom, resources and support.

Bag chaos

I got a new bag with fewer dividers than my old one. When I put 3-4 clubs in one large section, I have trouble getting them out easily. The grips catch on the club heads and stick- I’m afraid I’m going to create more wear and tear on the grips. Is there a product out there that prevents this? I’ve tried searching for a golf bag divider but haven’t come up with anything. How do you stave off bag chaos?

LP UVmune 400 Face and Body: suitable for outside sports?

Hi- can anyone give me a review of this sunscreen? I use the oil control version on my face because I find it less greasy. I’d love to find a very protective outdoor sport sunscreen. Is this going to slide right off? Any other sport level sunscreens with high protection (for UVA- not interested in US sunscreens- looking for broader protection). Thanks!

Bump and run question

Hi all, there was a good discussion about the bump and run on here- I need to practice that more. I play with someone who uses her rangefinder to get the distance, and switches the club she chooses but always takes the same size swing.

My pro suggested practicing using the same club (PW) and varying the swing size based on how far the pin is without using the rangefinder, so my eyes/brain get used to estimating.

Which method do you use? Do you eyeball it? Measure it? Use varying clubs or one? Thanks for any advice.

Cream version of this?

I love my HG Nude Bronze Light bronzer. Love it. I’d love to find a cream bronzer that’s equally subtle - a barely there, very light, non orange for my fair-to-medium neutral skin tone. The Makeup by Mario skin enhancer keeps coming up - would that fit? Is it sticky though?

Also, sending appreciation to all the helpful commenters here! I asked for green eyeliners the other day and got some awesome suggestions!

Whoooo boy. R/golf

The r/golf sub is occasionally interesting and helpful but I have to read through a lot of sexist screed, and posters constantly assuming they are talking to all bros. Are there any other golf subs you follow?

Sarah Creal eyeliner in “Jungle”

Anyone tried it? Any thoughts on how much glitter/sparkle it has, and what the color is like? Bonus if you can show a swatch!

Xyzal for sleep

I recently started taking Xyzal for allergies (active ingredient Levocetirizine dihydrochloride)****. It’s been great for allergies but bonus- I’ve been sleeping better on it! Anyone else? I’m hoping this antihistamine doesn’t come with the possible long term risks as older generations of antihistamines.

Green eyeliner for blue eyes?

I saw someone rock an olive green eyeliner that had a subtle shimmer. She had green eyes though. Would green work on my blue eyes or would it clash? I am loving the Sarah Creal liner in Everyday Taupe. Anyone tried her Jungle color?

Tournament partner play: handling stress

EDIT: she must not have been too bummed at my golf game, because she asked me to be her partner again in an October tournament! You all were right- having fun is more important than winning to her. My kind of partner.

Relatively new golfer here. Yesterday I played in my first tournament. A pretty good golfer asked me to be her partner, and I was flattered. I know she didn’t pick me for my savage golfs skills- I have a 25 handicap. But I’m fun and sunny and we have a good time together.

I played ok the first day and we ended up in first place. Yesterday was day 2, and I think I crumbled under the pressure. All I could think about was not letting her down. She ended up carrying us - I think I contributed 1 or 2 points. I wasn’t expecting us to win, but I was so disappointed in myself that I didn’t contribute more.

Any advice for handling myself in future tournaments? I’m at a club and we have several partner events every summer, so I need to put my big girl pants on!

When there’s a distinct line⛳️

I am a golfer and would like to self tan my feet and left hand- the areas covered by my socks and golf glove. Any advice on how to pull this off? I’m reading to exfoliate beforehand, moisturize first, use a tiny amount, and perhaps a fluffy brush to blend it down towards fingers and toes. But how do I bring it up to that darn sock line so it looks natural? Any other advice for a newbie? Thank you!

First major birdie

I knew you guys would celebrate with me! I have gotten a birdie twice before, but they were on easy holes. This one was the *real* deal- a par 4, one of the hardest holes on the course, with a vicious pin placement. My husband was next to me hacking away at one of the worst rounds of golf he’s played, trapped in a frustration spiral. Bless his heart. Tweet tweet! Hope you all had a beautiful Memorial Day! 🐦‍⬛

L-threanine kept me awake

Last night I tried l-threanine for the first time. Took 200 mg along with my usual magnesium glycinate 400mg. I was nice and drowsy when I got into bed, but when the l-threanine kicked in I felt the calm, alert focused effects people love for daytime use! It felt amazing. The only problem was, it was 10:30 pm. Ha.

As I was falling into the Reddit rabbit hole, waiting for the counter effects of the Unisom I had to take, I learned this is A Thing.

I will try taking it during the day- some folks report it improves sleep even when taken remotely from bedtime.

Anyone else?

Eyeballs snap open at 4:00 am and I’m up for the day. How to shift wake-up time?

Does anyone’s eyes fly open too early?
My wakeups have been creeping backwards towards 4:00/4:15 lately. I moved my bedtime to 9:30 to compensate, so I’m getting plenty of sleep (and I’m sleeping through the night). I feel rested. I’m not stressed. It’s more like my internal body clock has shifted backwards, and … I’d like to shift it forwards so I’m not drinking coffee and scrolling Reddit and listening to birds chirp by 4:30. Know what I mean?

-On HRT (300 mg progesterone and estrogen patch; lifesavers)
-Great sleep hygiene
-No alcohol, daily exercise, healthy diet
-Magnesium glycinate before bed (magnesium l-threonate gives me nightmares)

Am I missing anything?

Edit: would l-theanine help?

Pat McGrath powder: brush recommendations

This powder is lovely but I don’t have quite the right brush for it, and a puff applies it too heavily. Any good brush suggestions?
Edit: this is the under eye powder, so the brush needs to be small

Progesterone vs Medroxyprogesterone: sleep disruptions upon switching

Last week, my menopause specialist switched me from progesterone 300mg to medroxyprogesterone 2.5 mg to manage spotting. As a result my sleep has tanked. I had gotten great results with progesterone for sleep- now I’ve regressed. Has anyone else had a similar experience, and if so what did you do? I will call my doctor’s office Monday but in the meantime I’m hoping my wise Reddit friends have insights.

I play a lot of golf (2-4 rounds per week). I have battled tendinitis in both elbows (lateral epichondylitis, commonly known as tennis elbow- ironically not golfers elbow!). I think it’s from gripping the club too tightly, or holding a lot of tension in my arms. Has anyone else battled this? Any advice? I could probably back off on so much golf but I love it too much!

EDIT: thanks to all my golfer friends here! In addition to all the things I’m already doing (PT, massage, braces) I ordered the Theraband Flexbar and will watch that I’m not death gripping my clubs. I should also mention that the CBD lotion I found has been surprisingly helpful. It’s from Floyd’s of Leadville- the full spectrum sports cream. Again, thanks everyone!
