Can I tan over a fading tan?

I’m tested out a tanner 2 weeks ago for a wedding I’m going to this weekend and I thought it would fade faster than it did! I’m super happy with the results. It’s mostly gone now but I’ve got some stubborn patches around my underarms and chest that I can’t seem to get rid of no matter how much I exfoliate.

Can I tan over these or is it not worth it? I just can’t justify spending another $30 on a self tan eraser.

Has anyone tried these what’s your thoughts? Found them both on sale this weekend and I’m not sure which one I should try first haha

Gradual tan not taking?

Hi! So I tried a gradual tan for the first time ever as a pale gal the other day, the coco and eve one, and it worked REALLY well I was super pleased. A nice glow without being too orange. But I tried it again after about 4 days when it had faded a fair bit and I feel like it didn’t really do anything? It went really patchy around my neck so I had to scrub it. My question is how do I best reapply without it going patchy and is it not applying as well as the first time or am I just going tan blind 🫠 brown top pic is after 1st application and yellow is today after reapplying last night

De-tan in 7 days

I don’t know what has happened to my skin, but I’ve gotten so tanned that it’s starting to worry me. My natural skin tone is fair, yet now my complexion looks much darker, dull, and uneven. I’ve been using ubtan consistently, hoping it would help restore my original tone, but I haven’t noticed any real improvement. On top of that, my skin always seems to have this strange oily layer, even when it’s clean, which makes it look and feel different than it used to. I’m concerned because this doesn’t feel like normal tanning anymore, and I’m wondering if something else is affecting my skin or if I need a different approach to get my original complexion back. I gotta go somehwre in 7 days tell me some ways!

Face Tan/makeup hacks?

I should know this, I’ve been self tanning for about 15 years, but does anyone have any tricks for getting a good face tan with their self tanner? Currently using the Minetan foam in ultra dark, I leave it on overnight and I really love this color. The results I get are super deep and has a red/brown undertone which compliments my complexion so well.

I put it on my face as well but anytime I tan my face, it fades within the first day. Whatever self tan I am using I will usually just put it on my face as well, but I’ve always had this problem. I’m on tretinoin so I’m assuming that’s probably what makes it fade so fast.

I’ve used the tanning drops and formulas marketed specifically for face tanning but I haven’t found anything that solves this issue. Recently I’ve been using a skin tint (wet and wild tinted hydrator) in a few shades darker so my face matches my body haha.

Has anyone tried a face self tanner that they swear by? Or if you also use makeup to match your face, do you have any holy grail products?

Any tips for prolonging tan for sweaty/active life

I teach heated pilates and the more I teach the quicker I obviously lose my tan. Tans that used to last me 5-7 days may last only 2-3 when i’m teaching a lot.
Any tips to prevent the quick fade-away when I am going yo get excessively sweaty?? or am I just going to have to accept applying twice a week

What to wear after a spray tan?

Hello all!!

What would you advise to wear after a spray tan?

I am getting a spray tan for my wedding in a couple of months, 2 days before my wedding!

I need to do a few things the day getting my spray tan, including driving to the wedding venue 🙈 not ideal but I've no other options!!

I'll have a few hours at the air bnb where I can essentially stand naked for a few of hours so it'll 'set', but after that I'll be in the car of an hour.... I'm planning on not fully leaning back on my seat 😂

What do you think it's best to wear? I'm thinking a long maxi dress, with a 't shirt' style neck and sleeves?

Or would long sleeves and long flowy trousers be better? Not sure if more fabric is better than less?

My wedding dress is backless with a low v neckline, you won't see my legs so im not so worried about them.

Thanks so much for your help and advice!!

Does self tanning make your body hairs darker?

I’ve never self tanned before but really want to start but I’m really just wondering if you got light body hairs on your body and fair skinned and you self tan, will it make the hairs darker? Aka when the tan fades you’re suddenly left with visible brown hairs when they were blonde first?

Suggest be the best body wash to remove stubborn tan

I already use a glycolic acid toner for my face but if I start using it on my body too, it will be finished much faster that's why I'm looking for body wash

Most purchasers saying Chemist at Play is overhyped and doesn't help with tanning so which one should I go for? mCaffeine, The Derma Co, or something else?

Pls suggest some budget friendly options, preferably under 300 350.

I may have dove in too hard with bondi, help?

I have very, very fair skin. You can see my blue green veins type fair skin. I was “gifted” Bondi Sands dark mousse, I used it and the difference kinda stunned me just with one swipe. I have had it on for an hour and I am feeling like I look crazy too dark, I know it’s just the bronzer- or the color of the mousse itself but I’m telling yall, I could get a pinch of natural color and it would be noticeable. I’ve used b tan for years, and wash it off after an hour, and I know bondi sands says 6-8 hours before washing off but does anyone have an experience with rinsing it off at maybe 2 hours? Or will the tan not form?

Question for the busy, 9-5 self tanners

So when I started fake tanning I read that after rinsing off the colour guide after leaving it on for however many hours, the self tan still needed 24h to full develop so not to wear tight clothes etc.

I used to be able to not do anything for 24h when I was at uni or during holidays, but now that I have a job I want to enjoy my weekend and can't just not show up to wait for my tan to develop.

Is it true that you can't wear anything tight, can't sweat, can't wear light coloured clothes etc for 24h after self tanning?

I usually use Loving Tan Dark Express mousse and I wait either 2h if i'm in a time crunch, or over night. Will I be okay going to the gym or work after rinsing the colour guide off?

Thanks!

Rinsing hands early?

I see a lot of people here that rinse their hands early. Mine usually come out a little too dark so I’m considering this. I just don’t know when to rinse. I’m using nuda dark and I leave it on for 6 hours. Should I rinse my hands at 4 hours? What does everyone else do?

Thank you. No really, all of you.

Like some of you, I’m a one on the Fitzpatrick scale. After early tanning missteps, I stopped burning myself at 21 (when I had my first suspicious mole removed) and have spent the last 20 years fiercely protecting my skin.

Back then self-tanners were a joke. All the issues. Even the gradual ones never sat right on my cool-toned skin. Living in an outdoorsy-community with water, I occasionally heard comments about my pale legs, but it was occasional. The last few summers I have heard it almost every time I go out for a water activity. It’s legit kind of awful and I’ll never understand why people think it’s okay to make literal jokes about my appearance.

Cut to this year, perimenopause has fully kicked in and between my belly pooch, suddenly jigglier thighs, and pale legs, I wasn’t planning on wearing anything shorter than capris, or venturing to any water outside my backyard pool. Sad, I know. But my mood is touchy lately and I might fire back an insult at someone…

Then I saw a lady I know to be a fellow porcelain queen, but she had a natural-looking tan. I complimented her on it, assuming it was a $60-75 hand-sprayed tan. But it wasn’t. It was Bondi Sands light/medium foam. She also told me to look this forum up.

So I got a bottle on sale for $21 and I read all y’all’s advice. Decided to just start with my legs. Shaved, exfoliated, and moisturized in my morning shower. Came home after work, did another quick rinse. Pat dry then waited til I wasn’t clammy at all. Used a plastic glove and soft body cloth-sponge-thingy from the dollar store. Kabuki for the feet. Realized it looked silly so I went up to my bra line. Rinsed five hours later before bed.

Y’all. It’s amazing. My feet aren’t perfect, but also, unless someone is really, really looking, it’s not noticeable.
So I’ll be doing my top half and a second layer on my legs tonight.

I’m off work today and put on shorts. I have gotten three compliments. So from the bottom of my heart, thank to everyone in this sub. I just wish I had tried self-tanning again before now. It’s such a confidence booster.

Anyway, if you made it all the way through, enjoy this picture of my very pale inner arm against my now not-so-pale leg. Thank you again ❤️✨

Woke up with a patchy fake tan before an important weekend - what would you do?

I have an important weekend coming up and, of course, I woke up with my fake tan looking blotchy and patchy. 😩

I'm trying to decide between:

Putting a fresh layer over the top and hoping it evens everything out

Removing as much as I can and starting again.

The catch is that the only tan I have (as I finished the one I used yesterday before bed) is a bottle of Loving Tan Express that's been opened since last summer (so around a year old). It still looks and smells normal, but I'm not sure if it'll apply evenly after being open that long.

If you were me, would you:

Apply another coat over the patchy tan?

Try to remove it as much as possible and reapply?

Do something else entirely?

I'd really appreciate any tips, I need to look presentable by this weekend!

Self tan help!

I need to apply tan on Wednesday as I have a few things on but then the following week I need it to be gone by the Thursday a week later! Is this even possible?

As I have a spray tan booked in the following week, there’s no way I can’t do tan before!
