Realistically, how do you think Aaliyah’s career would have evolved?

I’m curious how her career would have actually aged.

Do you think she would have been bigger than life persona like Janet or Bey.

Or do you think her trajectory would have looked more like other 2000s R&B (like Ashanti, Brandy Ciara, or Keyshia Cole)

Can heteronormative societies create queer people?

For example, if you are a feminine boy born into a world where femininity is strictly associated with women, and women are expected to love men? What if bc you only ever see femininity paired with an attraction to men, your developing brain might adopt that blueprint.

It starts to believe, "I am feminine, therefore I am supposed to be attracted to men." The same could apply to a masculine girl adopting the blueprint to be attracted to women.

This would explain why gay men are statistically more likely to show feminine behavior (and lesbians masculine behavior) because the brain mapped its attraction based on the heteronormative roles it saw around it.

BTW: im not saying that is ALWAYS the case, I for sure believe that queerness is natural, but what if heteronormative societies increase that?

I mean even within the queer community, I see femininity so deeply tied to being a gay man, and masculinity w lesbian women.

Was janet (1993) about reclaiming black genres all along? 😭

HEAR ME OUT

In 1993, the entire media narrative around Janet Jackson’s self-titled album was focused on her sexuality.

But looking back at the actual sonic blueprint of janet., I’m starting to think we COMPLETELY missed the point.

Was she secretly trying to reclaim Black genres that had been completely whitewashed by mainstream pop radio?

Rock ("If")
House ("Throb")
Jazz/Big Band ("Funky Big Band")
Opera ("This Time")
Blues/Southern ("What'll I Do")
New Jack Swing ("You Want This")

If you think this is a reach, look at the lyrics for "New Agenda" with Chuck D. She literally sings: "History hidden from me , To hide my identity, So I'd never feel, I am somebody."

AND LOOK AT THE STRUCTURE OF THE ALBUM.

If you look at the tracklist, all of these wild genre-hops (Rock, House, Jazz, Opera, Blues) happen exclusively in the first half of the album leading up to track 12: "New Agenda" which explicitly calls out the whitewashing of history.

Right after she drops that thesis statement, there is the interlude "Love Part 2". And what happens after that? The entire sonic landscape shifts entirely into smooth, pure R&B, Soul, and quiet storms, genres that mainstream society already heavily associated with Black artists.

How would an average day look like in a communist society?

If we lived in a fully realized communist world, what would a normal day look like from morning to night?

How would work, housing, and getting food actually function without money or social classes?

How would the world look globally in terms of technology, community, and borders?

Anyone else get hit with insane nostalgia listening to Clara La San? 😭

Her music literally teleports me back in time. And for some reason more so my childhood.

It sends me straight to being 12 year old sitting in the back of a car at night, windows down, cool air blowing through my hair, empty streets, and just hearing the crickets outside.

It feels so incredibly specific but so real. Does anyone else get that exact same heavy nostalgic feeling when they listen to her?

Whats the album concept behind "janet"?

I've been diving into the 1993 janet.

I'm having a hard time mapping out the concept.

To me, it just feels incredibly versatile.

We have intense political commentary (like on New Agenda), to pure love songs (That's the Way Love Goes), to incredibly explicit sensual tracks (Any Time, Any Place),

all mixed with different genres like rock, house, and jazz.

How do you all view the overall concept? To me it feels like a diary bc of the amount of interludes.
Would love to hear your breakdowns!

Anyone use tape to lift droppy eyes?

I recently experimented by using regular tape to gently lift the outer corners of my eyes just to see what it would look like, and the difference honestly surprised me.

It made my eyes look much more lifted, and I really liked the overall effect. Lowkey changed my entire face lol

I’m looking for products that are actually made for this purpose.
For those of you who use face tape or eye-lifting tape:

What brand do you recommend?
How do you place it so it looks natural and isn’t visible?

I’ve read that eclipse births are pretty rare.
For those into astrology: Do yall have theories on being born during one? What it could mean.

Christianity and Transgenderism

I’m a gender abolitionist. don’t really believe in gender perse. I’m skeptical of the idea that someone is literally a woman despite being biologically male (vv) simply because they identify with traits that society labels as feminine or masculine.

HOWEVER Christianity (along with many other religions like Islam) played a huge role in establishing and enforcing heteronormativity and rigid gender roles. Obviously today’s gender norms aren’t entirely Christianity’s doing, but historically religion heavily reinforced the idea that men and women should look, act, and live in specific ways

So here’s what I don’t understand: if those gender expectations are socially constructed and were historically promoted by religion, why are many Christians opposed to transgender people?

If someone doesn’t identify with the social role expected of their biological sex, isn’t transitioning a predictable response to those expectations? Aint that common sense?

Most trans people I’ve met don’t deny their biological sex they know what they were born as but they identify with the other gender, which seems to be largely a social category.

So from a Christian perspective the hatred

Why do muslims participate in capitalism if its against allahs values??

Islam APPARENTLY teaches against exploitation, greed, usury and unjust treatment of people.

Modern capitalism seems to be built on profit, inequality, and exploitation, yet almost everyone participates in it.

What confuses me even more is when people say things like “Alhamdulillah” after buying a house, getting a promotion, or becoming wealthy. .

Even after egypt won last match a FIFA match (we all know how controversial fifa is lol) all the comments sayin "hmdl" "gods great" etc

Like that house u have was NOT god😭 neither that car thats harming the environment nor ur academic success while the other side of the world suffers like what?

Even concepts like pilgrimages to mecca otherwise u go to hell aree sooo money grabs i Actually feel so bad for ppl saving their money to go. Like pls go donate that lol.

And mind u its billions of Muslims and Christians. The number is almost too high to not rebel against the system that is ungod-like sp ion get it..are they ignoring it, too brainwashed. Am i too woke like? 😭
