The Neutral Special lives on forever.
I mod-mailed OKBP when microcelebrity shit was flooding the subreddit back then, and addressed to them that users were getting kinda riled up by mods deleting microcelebrity related posts without any word from them on what was going on.
Naturally, my DM resulted in the Rule #1 post by here4thememes, where they detailed that Rule #1 also disallows microceleb-posting.
And thus the microcelebrity further began anew, and a few days later, I notice this subreddit pop up on my feed. I joined it and went "Huh, very neat. This probably had something to do with me, lol." I didn't really wanna just come on here and talk about what I did then, cuz that felt very cagey and weird for a new community, to just go "I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS, BYE!" I will acknowledge that obviously the people who actually made this sub and started posting are responsible for it being like an actual thing, but hey, I think I unintentionally planted the seed for this whole thing.
It's been over a year now since then I'm fairly certain, and I kinda wanna talk about that era of OKBP a bit more since it was weirdly active last summer (I'd argue I played a hand in that too), and the P4R announcement drawing me back into the megaten community more, and I even started posting more on OKBP.
I don't think I've interacted in this sub since I joined, so uh, what fun community stuff have I missed? I've been a bit free and bored lately with not that much to be done, so it'd be nice to interact with the funny people in my computer more. I know y'all have made a discord server which is pretty fun, the OKBP discord sure was, while it lasted.
This episode is the most hysterical episode of Scott The Woz to me. All the bits and the fucking white void they sit in for a part of it have so many hilarious behind-the-scenes implications. Other than that, the blooper reels that are the funniest they published to me are the Mario Party ones.
This is from John Fountain's instagram (@fountainspencomics). It's the real deal.
Has anyone made this connection before? I think it's hilarious.
I understand that they are abusive when people are explicitly forced into them especially by their paternal figures and all that jazz.
I just want to know what a cult actually is in these contexts. Now I'd also like to preface a bit and say that I'm not from the U.S of A, nor have I been there, but that literally every account I've heard of or read about leaving a cult or otherwise complications related to being associated with one took place in the U.S.
The only cult that I can think of really would be Scientology, but it's more of a scam than anything, like the people who are in charge of it don't believe in it.
Are they a few specific cults that can be narrowed down? Or are there a lot of cults in the U.S.? What cult are people usually from when discussing about leaving them?
I am aware of the existence of groups like Mormons and Jehovas Witnesses and stuff, I don't know if those are cults, I've always been under the impression that those were just branches of like Christianity or just ways of life for a small group of people in the U.S. Are those cults?
