Almost back from the gunsmith
Saw a 1911 in Vickers book that was based off a mil spec SA and decided to copy it. Found this one NOS on GB for $500. During Wilson Combats 20% off sale last month I bought all new parts for $300 to replace the MIM stuff and it’s almost done. Gonna shoot it for a while before I decide if I’m gonna a park the blued WC parts. Gunsmith tested it and said it ate everything he fed it. Just about 4” high at 50 so I’ll have to adjust that in the future.
Fired my pool guy a year ago
And it’s never looked better. Thanks to this Sub and the PoolMath app I really enjoy the process and results. Always nice when the family notices too.
Direct mount question
Hi there. So I have a full grip C24. I was using a DPO RMR plate but decided to direct mount a DPP. As you can see it doesn’t seat all the way. I’ve tried two different DPPs and both look the same. This doesn’t seem normal but I wanted to check with yall first. I’m gonna call staccato Monday as well. Thanks for looking!

Finally finished my DEVGRU HK416 clone built around an authentic surplus complete upper

17 years and counting
Figured I’d share the story behind my Speedy Pro. Just found the box after being MIA for a few years.
This wasn’t a watch I bought for myself. It was my Officer Candidate School graduation gift in 2009 from my grandmother. She gave it to me shortly before she passed away, so it’s always meant far more than just another watch.
Since then it’s been with me through Army Intelligence School, Army Flight School, countless flights and sorties, and some of the biggest milestones of my adult life. It has scratches, dings, and plenty of memories, and I wouldn’t change any of them.
These days it shares wrist time with my no-date Submariner, but the Speedy is still the one that means the most to me. My hope is that one day I’ll pass it down to one of my kids, and they’ll see every scratch as part of its story rather than a flaw.
One day I’ll have it serviced but it’s still keeping time.
What’s the story behind the watch you’ll never sell?
Parkerizing upgraded parts
Hi everybody. Trying to get a little consensus on something. I have a SA 1911–A1 that I’m upgrading with some Wilson combat parts. They come blued, but I was thinking about sending them out to be Parkerized. That way it’ll match the rest of the gun. Any thoughts?
Delta 1911 clone
Here’s my latest acquisition. It’s a clone of the Delta 1911s made by retired Delta SGM Brian Searcy of Pilot Mountain Arms.
It’s a 2021 build that was only fired by Brian for factory testing. He guarantees sub 3” group at 50yds and this was 2.8”.
Caspian frame and slide
Kart National Match barrel
S&A blended magwell
Barnhart Burner grips
Videcki 3.5lb trigger
Can’t wait to get it to the range!
LVAW rails available
Raid research has some still available. You have to choose FDE, Sig Grey, or custom cerakote color of your choice to get one just fyi. I got Sig Grey which is almost black.

New old stock
Just bought this 2021 Pilot Mountain Arms Operator that’s been sitting since original purchase. Decided to treat myself to starting year 19 in the National Guard.
This thing is a tank! Can’t wait to break it in.
Newest CMP service grade
Got a 1942 frame and DSE slide.
New old watch day - 14060M
Just picked this up from my dealer. Second Rolex ever and only one at the moment. Looks like it’s hardly ever been worn. Amazing shape for 19 years old. Second pic is next to my buddies 5512.
Finally got it to the range
Man, I thought my CC9 was a good gun but this thing is amazing. So accurate and soft shooting. The only thing I hate is how long the DA pull is but for all the rest I’ll overlook that. Ignore the bottom half of the target, that was my CMP 1911 that has a terrible trigger. The large ragged holes were from the CT at 10 and 15yds.
Business casual day
Decided to bring out the trusty Vachettas today.
This Arisaka Type 99 is special to me. My grandfather brought it back from his time on Iwo Jima. He was in the US Army Air Force and landed on July 6 to help establish it as a strategic bomber base in the Pacific, assigned to the 555th Air Support Group.
He found it complete with bayonet in a cave one day and kept it. As you can see when he brought it back he had to remove the chrysanthemum.
I had always asked him about it and he just said he brought it back. He died in 1994. It sat in his garage in pieces from 1946 until my parents had it put back together for my college graduation in 2002. That’s when they found the clip strip of ammo for it.
It may not be worth much monetarily but it’s priceless to me.
