Could It Be
Found this while playing the Indiana Jones and the Great Circle game. I couldn’t resist.

I drove my Altima Coupe off the lot in October, 2007 and I’ve been the only owner. I’ve been lucky. The only major repairs on her have been the serpentine belt / water pump and the A/C compressor. At no time have I ever replaced the clutch, but I’ve never had one last for this many miles.
I often skip gears, shifting from 1st to 3rd to 5th, which may have had an effect of extending the life of the clutch. It just boggles my mind and wondering how long other’s clutches have lasted.
I’ve been to a few cons previously and I know many vendors will hold your purchase for you to pick up later in the day. With this con having activities around the clock, I don’t suppose there are any facilities to store such things after the vender hall closes. I’m staying off-site, so bringing something back the room isn’t really an option.
I’ve had my Portal for about a year and I really get a lot of enjoyment using it. After I got the network kinks worked out, it’s been a blast. BUT there are some days where the signal will just continue to degrade, and pretty significantly, where it’s basically unusable.
It happened tonight. I’ve played it the last few nights for an hour or more with no issue. Then tonight, I’m having to manually disconnect and reconnect every 5 minutes to just to keep the resolution and lag at bay. I figured I’d attempt some troubleshooting, restarting the Portal, adjusting the router to ensure the PS5 and Portal were properly prioritized with QoS, all with no improvement. Forcing the router to reboot is what finally resolved the issue.
So I wanted to share in case anyone else experiences this too , but I’m also curious how common this is for others.
These photos are of an unfinished portion of my second floor that I’d like to finish, mostly for temperature controlled storage. The room below is a garage. This area runs the length of the garage, so there is no load bearing wall beneath this space - at least not where these angled pieces tie into the floor. There is a large beam across the width of the garage, which would about were the blue bin is in the photo.
My question is what can be done to remove these or limit the number of them? I intend to use that space for storage bays / storage drawers, but the space between them is limiting my options. I’ll of course have a an engineer confirm, but I wanted to have some idea of what’s possible while I’m still in the planning phase.
As the admin of my home network and someone who likes to know what devices are on it, I’m surprised I that there is no way within the BB app to see the IP address assigned to each camera. From other camera systems I’ve used, this seems to be pretty standard. It would be lovely to add that information in one of the upcoming app updates.
Here’s hoping the company monitors the sub.
In a related post, (https://www.reddit.com/r/HOA/s/pP999oM1Cj) about deferring reserve study recommended maintenance, much of the input was to effectively skip maintenance that wasn’t “needed” or defer it as until it was necessary. As a follow up, I’m interested to hear opinions on the knock-on effect these decisions have on the HOA’s financials.
Current dues fund the operating budget and future repairs (many further in the future than any board member’s term), which should be based on your latest reserve study. If a board then skips maintenance that has already been funded over years, isn’t the HOA now overfunded? Hasn’t money been taken from homeowners unnecessarily? How should the board address this?
For example, say a board has deferred sealing a parking lot to the tune of $75k. It’s in OK state for its age, some cracking and depressions, some alligatoring. But it’s already 2 years late and in 4 years, it will reach end of life and is scheduled for complete rebuild. The board decides sealing isn’t needed to last the remaining 4 years. Now the HOA suddenly has an extra $75k in the budget. What now?
Broadly speaking, there are two schools of thought; one (the one I identify most with) is to do the work as scheduled. Another is to assess the need and defer if not needed. I’m curious what the consensus is for maintenance items identified in your reserve study.
Previous boards have utilized deferments. My concern with deferments is that it confuses things. Maybe the cost of the repairs increases the long you wait to do it (asphalt sealing), or maybe not (replacing a playground). If you don’t spend the money now, it is still earmarked for that work if/when the board decides the repair is necessary, but how do you ensure the money doesn’t get committed to another expenditure? It potentially makes your reserve funding look stronger than it is. All of this makes me much prefer doing the work as it is scheduled, unless there are extenuating circumstances.
I’m interested in how other boards manage this.
So glad I get to watch this without his fuckin’ mug showing up on my TV. 🙌🏼 Am I right?
I know details about the tally are sparse, but has anyone heard of a plan to disrupt or co-opt the rally? I assume it will be outdoors somewhere on the National Mall, so I thought it might be more prone to disruption than others. I’d love to support an effort like that. Hell, I’d take the day off and make the trip just to ruin his day.
I’m served for 8 years, 3 of those on an SSBN. After hearing a coworker talk about the expanded eligibility for healthcare due to the PACT act, I applied online in April of last year, documenting all of my exposures. Got a denial letter several weeks later, and was confused. Several months later, several other coworkers attended a VA weekend enrollment event (all with similar service records) and all walked away with Priority Group 6 healthcare coverage. I spent the next 6 months trying to find the status of my application, only to be bounced around from person to person and getting no help.
I finally got help from a VSO last month and discovered that the Healthcare Eligibility Center took ELEVEN months from my application date to act on my application, finally requesting records from the VBA to establish my TERA Memo. 😲
I’m relieved to finally have some action on my application (TERA Memo is on its way back the HEC for review) but I’m baffled why there was such a delay on it and why no one could help move things along (despite being told they could see my application).
