I’d have had no idea where to begin setting up OS3 without the info in the Discord.

I have the Rabbit agent installed on my main laptop, which has plenty of RAM. Everything connects as it should.

Then I thought I'd add the Rabbit agent to a second laptop, the little refurbed 2-in-1 that I intend to use while traveling. Installing the agent worked; the Rabbit could see both computers and both nodes were active.

That, however, was where the similarities ended. I couldn't connect to Openclaw, Claude, OR Hermes. It would just keep trying to connect and then saying, "restarting".

A little legwork, involving having Claude look at how things were running on the travel computer, unearthed the problem. My small laptop has 8 GB of RAM, and that's not enough.

I'm not sure how many GB we need, as a minimum to successfully connect to the Rabbit; however, 8 is apparently not it, lol. Lesson learned.

We have a firmware update (v1.5.1). Where can we find documentation of what’s in the update?

Let me preface this by explaining that I’m T2 diabetic, and my surgeon is extremely aggressive with treating diabetic limb injuries. My numbers are well-controlled, thank God. But I’ve witnessed the complications my (less-well-controlled) diabetic friend had with his foot over the years, and I appreciate that my surgeon wants to prevent any of that from arising. In particular, the complication known as Charcot Diabetic Foot Syndrome, which my friend had, must have been designed in the ninth circle of Hell. I’ll take every precaution ever to avoid that!

So when I tell you, “Hooray, my stitches are finally coming out after four weeks”, it’ll make more sense. Diabetes can also drastically slow the rate of healing, and cause problems with incisions not wanting to heal or stay healed, so extending the time until the stitches come out can counter that.

I’m relieved that a stitch-free leg is in my very near future, because you can’t spell “stitch” without ITCH, lol. My incision area looks like everything will be fine once the stitches are gone, so I don’t expect any trouble from that source.

I’m still NWB for at least the next four weeks. But every bit of progress is reason to rejoice! See ya later, stitches!

Broken bones are a massive nuisance. 0/10 Do Not Recommend. But I think we all know that already, lol!

I was watching a YouTube review of StackChan that was recently uploaded. The reviewer mentioned NFC ability. I was surprised. I don't recall that having been listed as a feature when StackChan was on Kickstarter.

Was the ability there and either not mentioned, or I just missed the mentioning of it? Or do newer StackChans have a hardware upgrade?

I would love to be able to have two StackChans recognize and acknowledge one another. The last time I checked, that wasn't an option. If the Kickstarter models have NFC, would they be able to use it to know that another StackChan is close by?

You’ll probably see advice to elevate your limb above the level of your heart after the surgery. It’ll probably be in your instructions from the doctor, as it was in mine.

Day 1 post-op: I sat upright with my ankle horizontal all day. By evening, pain levels were off the charts.

Day 2: I actually followed instructions. Elevating the ankle properly required lying down, so that was what I did. The pain levels were nowhere near as bad as they became on Day 1.

I learned my lesson, lol. Follow the instructions the right way, as much as you can, the first time. Spare yourself from how awful I felt on Day 1 after surgery.

Here’s the good news: some of the mailling lists to which I’m subscribed have allowed members to opt out of Mother’s Day emails. I am pleased that they’re acknowledging that Mother’s Day can be a pain point for some of their subscribers. Maybe they miss their Mom who has passed away, maybe their relationship with their Mother wasn’t the best, maybe they miss their own kids or wish they could’ve had kids.

For those reasons and more, there are people who would find that particular holiday making them sad instead of happy, so I commend the vendors who offer the ability to opt-out.

Now, my vent: I would like ALL vendors to offer this option. I would also like them to do something that so far, I’ve only seen one solitary vendor do: offer an opt-out for Father’s Day. See: all my reasons given above.

My Dad passed five years ago, and while I’m not walking around in unceasing grief, pain is still present and there are absolutely things that will bring that pain to the surface.

Getting emails from vendors with the topic, “Dad called. He wants X for Father’s Day” is something I find jarring. I’m confident that I’m not the only person for whom that kind of promo hits some of our pain points.

Long story short: “Do you want to receive promotional emails for [insert holiday here]?” should be the norm, not the exception, for these mailing lists. We have the technology. We can and should do this.

I’m a little surprised at the lack of options on M5Burner for the M5Paper V1.1. A lot of things aren’t compatible with it. The main focus is on the S3.

Are there firmwares out there, especially e-reader firmware, available from sources other than M5Burner?

I’m entirely new to the world of AI companions.

Has anyone experimented with different LLM options, with StackChan or other devices?

How do they compare with one another?

Are there must-have capabilities you have identified that make you choose one over all the rest?

Not only are we up to firmware version 1.4.1, but I also spotted an update to the StackChan World app. It’s now at version 1.1.6.

I think that when the StackChan app is updated, it will benefit from a few additions.

For example, it would be nice to have StackChan remember that I use Fahrenheit and imperial measurements, rather than Celsius and metric units.

Next, the ability to have StackChan “sleep” while idle, and sit still instead of moving around every few seconds. That should be a good battery saver, as well.

Also, this isn’t so much a setting, as a request. I would love to know how the speech recognition is expecting to hear the word “StackChan”. Specifically, how is it expecting the vowels to be pronounced? I can confirm that with a Philadelphia accent, we pronounce the vowel in “Stack” differently from the vowel in “Chan”. And both of those vowels might be different from the way people in other regions or countries might pronounce the same letter. All short As are not equal, lol. I’d like to know which version(s) of short A StackChan is listening for.

I got two StackChans, so I updated both their names to something other than “Stackchan”. They are now Luna and Terra.

I’m from South Philly. I definitely speak with a regional accent. I didn’t think “Luna” would be a problematic name, but she doesn’t always recognize when I’m addressing her with, “Hey, Luna”. It makes me wonder if my accent is a factor, though I didn’t think that “Luna” has any of the attributes that would be unique to my regional accent.

I do have a workaround, though. If I say, “Hey, StackChan!”, she wakes up and tells me her name is Luna. 🙂

I will have to experiment with Terra, and see if she has any easier of a time recognizing her name. If not, well, at least I know “Hey, StackChan”will get her attention!

Has anyone here run into issues with “Hey, [New Name]!” not being consistently recognized?
