I find the non-google phones too pricey

How come all the privacy conscious phones cost so much? Why they are on top of the range phones? See iodé, or GOS.

I've always bought phones that cost in the region of ~300€, getting phones that are not outdated and perform reasonably well. Moreover, all with a good camera.

Every time I have a look at these phones, if cheap they are seriously outdated, otherwise they cost 5-600€ upward.

While i don't need a flagship phone, I'd like it reasonably good and with a good camera.

Any suggestion, please?

I need 0.1% and cannot access the menu

…no matter how much I rape that button.

If I unscrew the tail cap, will it eventually set itself on group 1?

It's a Convoy C8.

If so, how long does it need to be without power?

Thanks

New use for my C8 (non plus)

I found this extra handlebar clamp and tried to fit the C8.

Well, it's perfect, light tint too, very "dynamo" at full speed (SFT70 3000K at 1%)

I used the lanyard to secure it to the handlebar: it doesn't come off easily, but if it does, I'd rather not smack it on the ground.

The blue Cree XPG350 is already taken off.

Note: lanyard and magnet!

Privacy friendly e-wallet

I am in a situation in which my bank randomly blocked one of my transactions on the biggest national listing site (while paying the website, that in return gives protection from losing your money) and as I tried two or three times to pay, they perma blocked my card. Apparently, it is a protection from scams, their words. Anyway, they issued a new bank card, not yet arrived, of which I have the details, and I wanted an e-wallet to use temporarily use it via NFC, until the physical card turns up.

Google watever is not for me. I am on android.

Can anyone help, please?

Can someone recognize this 22", pls?

I don't even know the size of the frame, but it won't be small with 22" wheels. I am 6'2", 54. …And it's not black! Only thing I don't like is the big chainring.

Is this of a good make? The price is what it is, there aren't many 22s around and Spain isn't the US, BMXs at 25€ simply don't exist 😢

I add some pictures in case the link is geoblocked.

Thanks!

Inaudible AE1200.

I own an AE1200 and find its hourly chime/alarms inaudible.

When I was about 12 or 13 I could hear my casio watch crisp and clear, of course I'm older but I don't think to be deaf.

Is there any other Casio watch with a similar style and with a louder beep? How about the WS1600-H?

No huge watches, in metal it would be better.

Thanks in advance

AE1200 chime/alarm volume on SS case

I read on skxmod that the metal case lowers the volume of the alarm, that in my opinion, it's pretty inaudible already in the plastic case.

What is your experience with metal cases?

Profile corrupted (maybe?)

Hello, I’ve been struggling a lot lately with a website I use to work on, because the third party cookies need to be enabled, the exception was set, but the website wasn’t seeing it. I’ve had this problem first on a Windows laptop I almost never use, then lately I messed up a bit with about:config here on this Linux machine and stupidly I decided to just refresh Firefox to make it faster.
And that’s when out of the blue it started also here, on a computer that previously was working perfectly on that website.
I also noticed that if I go to Aliexpress, I cannot set my country, the English language and the currency, upon saving it always goes back to US, English, and dollars.

I tried to create a new profile, I named it "work", and surprise, it worked with my work website.
I decided to try to create a new profile, to just syncronise with my main profile (I mean, addons, history, downloads, passwords etc.) and the Aliexpress page that was working as it should, started playing up also in this profile.

Now, I’d like to save my passwords and my browsing history, is there a way to export them and then importing them in a brand new Firefox profile (as in accounts.firefox.com)? After deleting the older corrupted one, can I use the same email address?

Also, when we say "profile", are these two different ones? The one with my email an password on https://accounts.firefox.com and the one stored in my computer as a folder on /.mozilla/firefox?

Thanks in advance.

Which size for a road bike frame?

My 1979 racing bike frame is a bit big for me.

Standing, the top tube touches my crotch, and I've always felt it a bit "long".

As I've been accesorizing it since when I got it, I'd like now to get a new frame and fork and transfer components over.

But which size should I go for?

Unfortunately vintage bicycles over here are always tiny (52 or so) and the bigger ones are sparse in the country, I would have to buy a frame online and getting it shipped.

I'm 190cm tall (6'2"), my inseam is about 89cm, which is very close to the 86cm of the top tube height of my 60×60 frame.

I've always felt it long, meaning that I have to lean a lot, but I don't find the saddle too distant from the pedals, on 172.5 cranks.

I attached a photo of the bike to show how the seat post is.

Thanks in advance

edit: now with correct measures!

Got an A159 bracelet but it's annoyingly slim

Because of the heat and subsequent sweat, my AE1200-specific tobacco leather band started getting multi shade, so I decided to get an A159 bracelet: it's as light as the watch, so it remains balanced, I remember from the 80s that it was very compfottable (it still is) but on Aliexpress I couldn't work out on photo it was so narrow.

The AE1200 specific straps and bracelets are 18mm at the lugs, widen to 24mm and then taper down. This doesn't, it widens to just 20mm and it visually looks narrow, because it bloody is.

I wish there was a bracelet exactly like this with proper width, now it looks bad because too narrow, but it has in my opinion a very fitting design.

I tried looking for 24mm wide bracelets to dremel down to 18mm at the lugs, but none have this design, none is light, and recent fashion wants straight bracelets: on this watch, it would look bad even more.

What do you think?

I will keep it until the heatwave finishes, then put on the original bracelet, I think.

Modding an old officier

I have since when I was 16 this Victorinox Officier, in black. I've been using it most days, always been in my pocket for the last 38 years.

Well, one of the tools is totally useless, the corkscrew. I very much would like a Phillips screwdriver and while I guess i can find the part online…

How do I open the actual knife?

Can someone point me to some link or video, please?

Thanks in advance

4NIX Atome Pro XL

Hello, I found this 4NIX Atome Pro XL frame at a cheap price (75€), and the two things that left me thinking are the disk brake (but it has tabs to fit the v-brake posts), and the material of the frame, hydroformed AL6061 tubing.
Well, the construction of the bike is wicked, but does it then prove itself effective against Cr-Mo conventional steel bikes? Honestly, it looks very cool to me and the price is attractive.
As it is very discriminant, I’m 190cm tall, would its 21" be okay or is it too small for me?
And what is this bike made for? BMX, Okay, but BMX what? The intended use would be flatland, I guess, and generic use.
Thanks in advance!

Paint suggestion

I want to repaint my bicycle. I was thinking of gloss red or yellow, one color, but if you have any cool livery suggestions, please share!

Something that goes with my tan sidewalls, pls. No problem for saddle or bar tape.

Anyway, here's the question. Where can I buy here in Europe (Amazon) or locally (Spain) good paints to use for my steel frame?

Thanks in advance!

Edit: this bike isn't factory painted. It was originally pink and the previous owner spray painted it in black to sell it faster. While photogenic, it isn't of a great finishing. And perhaps, after so many people getting tricked, I will replicate those white bands with rainbow stripes over a different, brighter color, hopefully applied better than this 🙂
It isn’t an expensive exotic either: its make is AJAR, made in Portugal, and I reckon it is a mid-tier bike. Routed back brake cable, Gipiemme dropouts, rear ones with wheel adjustment, slender tubing but not butted. The components aren’t that expensive, although of good quality.
Sulky CLB caliper brakes, Sulky drilled levers - both unknown to me, but work very well and I like them.
It had a Simplex trasnmission of which both delrin derailleurs exploded: the front one to the previous owner, the rear one to me, so it now has a Shimano no model front derailleur and a Campagnolo Centaur 10 speed rear derailleur (and Simplex shifters to be swapped with Campagnolo Record ones once I paint the frame).
Shimano MF-TZ500-6 freewheel cogs (but I want to put a 7 speed period correct Sunrace with the same 14-28 range I found second hand - still to buy it)
Gurpil hubs, Rigida alloy wheels, stainless steel spokes.
A cheap Aliexpress saddle, a French made handlebar.
It is already a frame with which I can experiment, and the idea with this bicycle is to "dress it up" until one day I will find a nicer unmolested and unpainted frame where transferring everything on.

Are these 5€ lost?

Hello, I found this frame for 5€, and decided to get it because I recently got interested (again) in BMX at my "tender" age.

I would like to get it because it's a L, I'm 190cm tall and I know I would struggle to find a frame for me. Although I don't like the rear stays open in that way, I thought I could build it up and use it until when I find a better frame, and then I will transfer everything there.

Is it a sound plan, or are they 5€ thrown away?

I did the flash mod, thanks to u/The_cooler_ArcSmith who posted about it 6 years ago in this sub!

I used a small dot of solder with the soldering iron at 520°C, the hottest possible to be as fast as I could. It worked out well. Link and other photos below
