Illinois SBR possibility

With the current state of the federal cases regarding the NFA, my brain got to stirring. Suppressors are banned outright but, sbr’s are allowed by people holding a C&R license. With sbr’s being possibly deregulated, could a legally owned firearm in Illinois be converted to an sbr with nothing more than a C&R license? This is obviously assuming that sbr’s do actually get deregulated, which is up in the air.

New to me 2024 ecoboost

Had to buy this truck on short notice. We knew we wanted an F150 but, we weren’t really sure what to expect. Road tripped about 5.5 hours from home and averaged 24mpg, including the 1.5 hours in the ozarks. I was impressed considering our dodge caravan averaged around 22 and is obviously a lot less capable. 36 gallon tank is insane.

Don’t be afraid to ruin something

Modified this safariland SLS holster for a sig gsr. It now holds my Colt combat unit. The tricky part was the little pocket for the irons forward backup rear sight. My edge finishing could obviously use some work, but it gets the job done. There’s a bajillion of these holsters laying around and can be had for a song. It’s a decent option for anyone with a Colt m45a1 or a CCU with a light attached. Mine has an x300 but I’m sure it would accommodate others. Get that dremel out and start thinking outside the box.

It’s so good

It’s hotter than the hubs of hell today but, threw down 250 rounds anyways. Got a beautiful 15 yards zero and confirmed hits at 40 on man sized steel. Love this gun. Hope you’re enjoying your Sunday as much as I am.

Well, stuff happens…

While chasing down what load this pig likes best, I decided that there was certainly some accuracy being left on the table. Ditched the Springfield scout mount and installed this Sadlak aluminum unit.

Testing will begin tomorrow. If it proves to be more consistent with the Sadlak mount, I’ll install a standard hand guard without the cutout. I’m pretty confident that this setup will yield better results (4~MOA before). Even a 1 MOA improvement will be worth it in my opinion. Problem is, now that I’ve got this mount I’m starting to wonder if an LPVO would be a good fit.

What’s everyone else’s experience with the scout mount? I personally think that it is too tight of a fit in the op rod area and that it leads to some inconsistency under fire. Maybe I’m making shit up in my head and it’s just a 4 minute gun. Time will tell.

Colt Combat Unit

Chambers RDSM installed by Dave at Defensive Creations. The factory trigger fitment is god awful. Got a new unit from thunder mountain customs that I will be fitting up this weekend. Really digging this gun.

Practical and aesthetic

This is a mossberg 51773 with the exposed ghost ring on a 1913 rail. I knew that I didn’t want to put a dot on this one, so I installed this old LPA rear sight that I had laying around. Not sure why but, these sights are beautiful to me. Pleasing to the eye and very practical. Install is easy if you don’t mind drilling holes in your guns.

In case you were wondering

Turns out, this safariland SLS holster made for a sig 1911 GSR with light fits the Colt CCU railed model like a glove. This also means it would fit an M45a1 just as nicely. A little adjustment of the retention screws and it slides in easily with no excess wiggle, and the bale flips back over the back of the slide with the hammer cocked perfectly.

1911 optic cut blueprints

Does anybody here have a print for the milling necessary for the trijicon rmr mount? See pic. Got a new to me beater Colt that I am going to install an Rm06 hrs onto. Any help is appreciated. Photos for clarity.

Socom II rat rod final

Got the tape switch finalized. Velcro with a little bit of elastic strap scavenged from an old molle tourniquet holder. Added the cheek riser to dial in the fitment. This one’s done. Moving on to the next project. Doing a 1911 next with a railed Colt as the base gun.

Roast me

Pulled this metal out from under the bench and started at it. Hobart handler 140 with flux core wire of an unknown diameter. My welder buddy said they’re good, but he’s a rotten fuckin liar. Lay it on me.

ETA: not a welder and probably not gonna be
