I don’t think Terry Duckworth selling Tommy was a terrible thing at all.

I recently watched the moment where Terry sells Tommy to the Hortons in the 1993 Christmas episode on YouTube.

Most people call Terry despicable for what he did, but was he really?

If you think about it, the Duckworths didn’t have the healthiest lifestyle on the show. They had rubbish jobs, lived in a untidy house, and for most of the time, Jack looked like he was on the verge of dropping dead from a heart attack. Him & Vera definitely wouldn’t have able to look after Tommy full time, simple as that. As for Terry, he wasn’t father material at all, and he knew deep down that he wasn’t capable of looking after a child 24/7.

Terry wasn’t the most likeable character, but I think giving Tommy away was definitely the correct decision.
