Can an employee understand this report?

I was charged $900 because the smoking sensors that were installed 2 months ago said my rooms air quality index was at 500 from the day I checked in time stamped at 4:30pm so like half an hour after check in all the way until I leave. This is a malfunction. I did not smoke in the room. In fact, the hotel was near a massive fire the grasshopper fire on Mt hood and the aqi was bad outside.

There were two separate beefstorage rooms on Orlop deck

These beef refrigerated holds weren't meant for cargo but the consumption of it’s passengers, mostly third class. The beef was separated into the smaller eastbound and larger westbound rooms as during eastbound voyages it was common to have a lot less third class passengers on-board.

According to the cargo stowage plan and cargo manifest the Titanic caried nothing for the States in two refrigerated spaced in question. For import-and-export the holds behind it, these being cargo hold number 5 which was refrigerated, would be utilized.

If it was beef being shipped as cargo it would have been stored in cargo hold number 5, which was also refrigerated and filled with meat-rails. The food store rooms on G deck and the Orlop in watertight compartment M were for passenger consumption at breakfast, lunch and dinner/supper.

The flood basalts lasted over millenia, but if a human could travel back to that time what signs of an impending flood would there be?

I understand that the floods happened over many eruptions and millions of years, but like with the Siberian Traps or Columbia Plateau would there have been any warning signs that there was about to be an eruption in the decades prior to it beginning? Would the ground begin to swell up or rivers and lakes getting moved around?

Finally got 100%

10 years and I went 0% to 100% PTSD/TBI

Starting in 2016 when I got out of the Army I got 30% for PTSD. Then I used an attorney and got 70% and 10% tinnitus with TDIU. After the burn pit deal passed I added sinusitis 10%, IBS 30%, tension headaches 30%, loss of bladder control 40%. Then I added TBI at 0% and a couple weeks ago went into a C&P exam for an increase. Just today I found out they increased and combined my ptsd/tbi to 100%. Most said don't poke the bear, but it to worked out. Thank you all for your support and advice along the way.

Edit: I served Iraq '09; Afghanistan x2 '11 and '13. Wounded and medevac in July '13 Shewan, Afghanistan.

Why didn't Titanic's lookouts see the Californian?

Lookouts Fleet and Lee were on watch until midnight and they both claimed they never saw any lights. Hogg and Evans relieved them and were up there about 20 minutes and didn't see anything either. Yet the crew and passengers on deck saw the lights. Boxhall claims he saw the lights so clearly he could make out portholes. Was this really just from the cold water mirage? How did the look outs not see anything at that height?

Alderaan's destruction and hyperspace traffic disruption.

The destruction of Alderaan created a massive debris field and permanently removed it as a stop in the Commenor Run. The Empire set up a blockade and interdicted any ships trying to transit the area as an by the Millennium Falcon being seized.

How did the Empire alert those traveling to Alderaan that the planet no longer exists? I imagine there would be hundreds if not thousands of daily inbound ships to a core planet.

Photo of Titanic in December 1911 with only 3 funnels in place

I heard somewhere that the long chute coming down the starboard bow was an outhouse that hung over the side for the workers to use. Does anyone have any knowledge of this?

Newspaper article about Jack Grimm claiming to find Titanic.

Grimm was a Texas oil tycoon that tried to find Titanic before Ballard. At one point Grimm thought he had found one of the propellers from Titanic but was unable to relocate a second time. It was late determined that Grimm had passed over Titanic's wreck site but his instruments never picked it up.

Mystery man on the bridge at the time of the collison

I'm not good with names but some greaser said that both engine and emergency telegraphs signaled stop simultaneously. That means there had to be Murdoch and another operating the two separate telegraphs. My theory is it was QM Alfred Olliver. Unless Boxhall was lying about being there but two other witnesses never mentioned him being there so I doubt that. Moody is ruled out because he was in the wheelhouse on the phone and passing or orders from Murdoch on to Hitchens.

Bridge's engine telegraph cable chain route through ship.

I know the Bridge Telegraphs were connected to the Engine Room and Rear Docking Bridge by Cables / Chains.

That's a long run, were there access panels throughout the ship in case of a problem?

How were they routed through the ship was it through tubing?

How did servants and crew wake up on time for their duties?

With regards to servants in first class (such as maids and valets, etc) who were travelling with their employers, how did they wake up on time to wake up their employers? Were alarm clocks used? Or were these servants woken by the night stewards/stewardesses?

I have always wondered about this, even in the case of manor houses, etc. As 'knocker uppers' surely would not have tapped on the windows of such prestigious premises. And with the wealth of some individuals, having clocks with alarms would not have been a problem for the first rising servants.

If servants did use an alarm on the titanic, and were situated in a close by cabin, would this not disturb other passengers? I'm thinking that maybe the night stewards/stewardesses may have woken the maids/valets first...it seems a bit more logical!

I don’t recall anything concrete on this subject, but I suspect I'm correct in thinking that maids and servants would’ve been awakened by night stewards and stewardesses. The same was probably true of the crew in general — they were awakened by the crew on the previous watch. I’ve read several accounts where crew mention being woken up by others, but none referring to alarm clocks.

There’s a good reason to think that alarm clocks weren’t common: they would’ve disturbed neighbors. The wooden partitions between staterooms, even in First Class, were quite thin. Some passengers slept with their doors open at least partly, for better ventilation. (Incidentally, passengers were not in possession of their stateroom keys; stewards locked and unlocked the doors for them.) So, noise carried very easily, and a servant’s alarm clock could well wake up their employers or others. A night steward(ess), on the other hand, could quietly enter each servant’s unlocked (or unlockable) cabin and wake them up with a gentle-at-first touch.

Hotel renovation without prior warning

I stayed 1 week at a double tree that was being renovated. They did not tell me at check in or when I booked in the app. The restaurant was closed and they didn't say it would be. Constant pounding all day long. No iron or ironing board or microwave or sofa in room. Should I complain to corporate? Hotel management didn't care.

Titanic's Anchor chain links took 6 men 6 hours to forge one link.

N. Hingley and Sons Ltd. forged the chain in 1911. Each link was over 100 kilograms. There were 1730 individual links. It took 6 men 6 hours a day to forge one link. I don't know if this picture is Titanic actual chain or maybe Olympic.

How were the dishes washed?

With over 2,000 passengers and crew how did they manage to wash all those dishes? Was there any kind of electric or automated dish washing? Was salt water used to wash the dishes? I wouldn't be surprised if 3rd class had to wash their own lol

What was the waste water and sewage system like on Titanic?

Modern ships have specialized toilet systems. What was the process like on ships in Titanic's day? I imagine they just dumped it overboard.
