QR Code Ordering

Hi guys, I’ve been approached by a company to implement QR code ordering and I’m on the fence about it. They are relatively cheap and the ui looks nice from what I have seen and they are nice people.

It also has metrics on sales and makes keeping track of stuff a lot cleaner from what I saw on the demo with clear insights into stuff that isn’t performing well etc.

It also has native translation built in rather than machine translation so alleviates a lot of the issue with my staff dealing with tourists. My restaurant is in a very touristy area so this is quite a common issue I run into with my staff not being able to communicate/translate allergens and menu items overall.

I know how much certain customers despise qr codes but I’m not sure if it’s just an outspoken minority, they also have an nfc thing inbuilt but I assume it’s more the viewing experience itself which I personally don’t have too much of an issue with.

Do you guys think it’s worth taking the potential downside moreso of restaurant image as I have heard a lot of harsh opinions of people saying they walk out of restaurants when they see them etc. I plan to have both menus available but push tourists to use the qr one moreso as it helps both sides.
Please let me know what you guys think and if you have any suggestions on what I should do!

EDIT: For context I’m based in Japan so I get a lot of tourists who are mainly Chinese/korean and some English. The main issue is that they cannot read our menu at all and maybe 10% of them can semi understand our English menu. The addition of photos and allergens/dietary stuff on the digital menu along with the native translations seem really useful but I’m not sure if the backlash from having a qr code menu would hurt my restaurant more. Qr menus are a lot more common here in Japan so they don’t hold the same stigma.

Awful recruiters

Why are recruiters so awful and frankly clueless when it comes to the roles they are hiring for. Whenever I’m doing interviews I can’t wait to get past the recruiter phone screen and talk the hiring manger/ actual dev. I get that they are necessary to take load off of the actual dev team but a lot of the time it feels like I am explaining technologies to them when they don’t really understand what the job actually is.

It’s also sad to think that these are the people reviewing your cvs a lot of the time especially in mid to big companies aside from the ai screening of course.

I wouldn’t mind it if they were useful but a lot of the time they seem to be working with the same level of info about the job spec and role as me so it just seems so pointless

Design Engineer vs Frontend Engineer

Hi guys, I’m a recent graduate and am in the latter rounds of a Design Engineer role at a tier 1 fintech company in the UK. I have good technical expertise and have build out many full end to end projects with active users using next.js typescript and react.

The issue I’m facing is that this design engineer role is a lot more design leaning with the tech stack being webflow and HTML/CSS. I fear that this may be bad for my career long term but the pay is a lot better than frontend roles. I was wondering what you guys thought about taking the job and framing it more as a frontend thing on my resume for the future and trying to undersell/ not mention the tech stack specifically as most frontend roles expect react or a similar framework with js/typescript which I wouldn’t be using in this role. Do you think it would be fine if I frame it more as a frontend engineering role or should I got for a dedicated “frontend engineer” role.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Thoughts on Locke Jungle

Hi guys, Locke has been out for a bit of time now and I was wondering what you guys thought of him more specifically in the jungle and maybe overall.

I’ve played a few games on him and he does feel like a worse version of Ekko to me. I can see some of his appeal but think he is a lot better mid than he is jungle. He gets strong at around 2 items from what I gathered whilst playing him but his skirmishing and objectives are pretty bad.

Want to hear your guys thoughts on if you think he’s just a gimmick in the jungle and how he’s affected your games more overall.

Volibear isn’t that weak

All the recent posts have been doomer posts about voli being the weakest champ in the game and I believe that this is far from the case. I’m a master Volibear Wukong jungle two trick and on the road to grandmaster hopefully.

Last year with the cosmic build and the 300 damage level 1 e he was insanely strong but he is fine now. Dusk and dawn is such a perfect item on him.

I think that it is hard to OTP volibear in higher elos as a lot of meta champs right now counter him and he is getting harder and harder to play into comps but you have to adapt more around the games. Champs like Wukong and jarvan complement him perfectly as games that voli is bad in they are good in.

I hope you guys try out dusk and dawn into statik shiv with dark seal on first base if you haven’t tried it already and always happy to review some of your vods if you guys send them to me. Also happy to answer any questions as I don’t feel like this champ is that bad although he could use a tiny buff just to increase his pickrate even if it’s a placebo buff.

Bloodsong on Seraphine?

Hi guys, I'm not a seraphine main but play her a lot when I get filled support. I usually build the normal enchanter echoes build with dream maker but went on coachless and saw that bloodsong was one of her best support items.

I play her fairly aggressively as I used to be a diamond adc main and am comfortable with trading windows so the item interests me. It also has a fairly high number of buys so its not due to small sample size and xPetu himself said that 10k+ buys meant the data was good iirc.

Have any of you guys tried it out and what do you think or is coachless missing the mark here with some weird edge case?

Stats Diminishing Returns

Does anybody know all of the points at which stats start to have diminishing returns?

I think I remember seeing that 180 armour was the point of diminishing returns and would be curious to see at which point it was at for the rest of the stats.

It means that passives/actives on the items matter more than the stats themselves and makes items like jaksho worse than they appear

What do you guys want riot to do with Maokai?

I used to play a lot of Maokai jungle back when he was strong maybe a year or two ago and had a lot of fun on him. I stopped playing him since they half killed him in the jungle but I expected them to bring him back eventually. I’m surprised to see that they have just forgotten about him especially when he is so made for the jungle. I also remember maybe less than a year ago when he was played top a lot in pro play etc but that was really boring to watch and play.

Looking at his pickrate now it’s split about 15% top 15% jungle and 65% support which pains me to see.
Are you guys happy with him as a support or would you want to see him as a jungler or top laner?

How would you want to see Volibear buffed?

Maybe more specially for jungle Voli but what buffs would you guys want to see on him. Iirc all his most recent changes have been with his ad scaling which are really whatever imo.

What niche champ do you think need a nerf?

What Junglers do you guys think deserve a nerf but similarly to Zilean aren’t touched because they aren’t popular enough for riot to nerf it.
I’ll start with Zyra. I think this champ has far too much tempo and becuse of it can not be punished very easily. She can clear all of her camps and then come and invade you on yours before your first clear is done and from this insane tempo tilts your team to oblivion as she gets more turns to Gank or make plays. She is also always stronger as her farming is so much faster than other junglers meaning that she is ahead on gold and xp. From this lead and her one shotting of camps she can also invade you non commitally and take your camp in your face and leave.
Thankfully she is out of meta now so I don’t see her much but whenever I do I regret not banning her.

Returning Zeri Player

Hi guys, I used to OTP Zeri and got to diamond but stopped playing her and roleswapped to jungle after the rework as she was really weak and I felt like I didn't really mesh with her new kit. I played her again and she felt really good but I'm not sure about the builds and how she should function now.

For builds I've seen that hexoptics into PD IE is a good build and another with Stormrazor into runaans/pd. What build do you guys prefer? Is Yun'tal dead now? I assume that its just hexoptics whenever you dont get 1300 gold for BF sword. What builds can you build the omnivamp boots in? Also when do you go dorans helm as I have seen crownie talk about it being strong.

Please let me know any tips/tricks and general pointers that you have about the new Zeri !

Masters Volibear Jungle AMA

Hi guys, I wanted to help players play voli in the jungle as he’s sadly dying out in the role and has about a 70% pickrate top compared to only a 20% pickrate in the jungle with this number shrinking over time as I remember the percentages being 60 30 before. I feel that he is missing the love he deserves in the jungle role and want to help other pick him up in the jungle!

What do you guys think of current Jungle playstyle?

Hi guys, I don't this to just be people ranting about how jungle has been oversimplified etc over the years but moreso focused on the change in meta, mages playing bot more and ranged champs top being the main ones. How have you guys adapted to this and seen it impact your games?

I used to be a big believer in pathing bot in 90% of games but when I have a passive lane like ziggs senna or something it doesn't really feel worth it. It also feels like I have to path top more to bail my toplaner out from playing against something like Vayne, Varus, Anivia etc. Anivia is maybe by far the worst champ that I think riot should kill as she can manipulate waves so effectively to basically have a perma freeze of the wave so it makes your laner very vunerable and her very hard to kill. You would think that you get prio off of this but she can also one shot the wave with R when she wants to and has her egg so it is hard to punish her when she is extended etc. A lot of games I feel that even pathing top to stop the enemy vayne from being gigafed it is not worth it in the fact that I am sacrificing my bot lane who are likely the carries within the game rather than my top laner who will find it harder to carry due to the ranged champs on the enemy team even when you do path top and feed them whilst making their ranged counterpart a cannon minion who also will likely scale into the game just fine even if behind.

I enjoy the shakeup in the meta but it has led to a lot more weird gamestates where you have more passive bot laners who can play very safely whilst getting really strong and nuking the wave like mel seraphine ziggs which is harder and more annoying to play towards. I also don't particularly enjoy having them on my team due to the lack of damage on objectives and overall dps that you sometimes need from a marksman, but it is nice to not have to path/worry about them and also frees up the support to roam and invade with you as they can just nuke the wave on repeat.

What do you guys think that riot should do to alleviate some of these concerns or do you enjoy the game as it is? Personally I'm undecided as it is more fun and makes some games more chaotic but some games are also really unfun to play in because of it.

EDIT: For context I'm a masters jungler and ex Diamond adc so queue adc secondary. I get filled a lot of times and just pick mel and it frees up the game so much for my jungler as my support can just leave lane with me nuking waves on repeat having 10cs/m and 1v2ing lane. After more reflection I do think that having supports roaming more without sacrificing their adc is more fun for the game.

Overusage of AI

Hi guys, I’m a frontend junior dev and I am about to start a new position at a fintech company. The interview stage had a take home task and allowed ai usage but I feel like I overused it?
I feel weirdly guilty for using it but all the design and data handling decisions I made myself and I built it iteratively rather than just feeding it the spec and letting it do it itself. Because of this I feel a lot of imposter syndrome in not being as good at coding as I used to be but as I’m still a junior a lot of my code likely didn’t follow best practices so this is a way for me to write clean code whilst still thinking about the important decisions and tradeoffs that I have to way up.

Does anybody else feel this way and what would you recommend that I do? I read the code and understand it etc before each step and tell it where to improve what to change etc but I’m just not physically writing the code anymore.

Is it worth selling boots late game?

Do you guys think it’s worth selling boots late game.
I feel like move speed isn’t as important of a stat on wukong as it is on other champs as you can get around it by using w and e more smartly so a 6th item like ga or something else could help a lot more.

Was Zeri’s rework successful?

I was a diamond zeri otp pre rework and stopped playing her post rework after she was really weak and never ended up coming back to her. Personally I just felt that she became a lot weaker due to her not having as much damage on lv6 spike etc where you could pick up a kill a lot of the time. Post rework it just felt to me like you were a bit stronger early but still not strong enough to force kills in lane etc and also weaker on the level 6 spike so there was no real angle for you to get a kill.
I think a lot of it may be down to my playstyle but she does feel a lot more fun in the good games, it just feels a lot harder to play her. Before the rework there was also the w max which could let you free scale along with the lv6 r burst that I mentioned before letting you have windows to play in hard lanes and scale to the point where you could carry.
Would you guys go back to pre rework, would you want them to change some things or do you enjoy her as she is now?

What do you guys feel about your champ?

I don’t play belveth but was wondering what you guys thought about the state of your champ. For context I’m a masters volibear/wukong two trick and find this champ very obnoxious to play against.
She’s in a weird position where she’s incredibly strong early and also is built around scaling incredibly well moreso than 90% of other junglers. She’s not picked enough for me to ban her but when I do see her I know that it’s going to be a long game. I have to concede camps etc to not die for them whilst she outscales me and fists me. Her winrate in master+ is 56% which is obviously absurd but I think it’s slightly inflated due to otps. She obviously has weaknesses like falling behind and becoming a cannon minion etc but it’s still quite annoying to play a game especially with losing lanes.
How could they change her to not be in such a weird middle ground or do you like her as she is?

Which smite is the best?

I’ve been running red smite in every game as it feels the best to me and has the highest winrate and WPA on coachless with the same pickrate.
All the top otps seem to run blue smite to be able to make more plays on the map but I think it might just be ambitious cope.
What do you guys think of the smite situation, I’ll test blue more to see but I have not enjoyed it as much as red.

How does Wukong not have a legendary skin?

I never really thought about it but Wukong doesn’t have a legendary skin. This is insane to me as he is usually popular in pro play and general play and seems like a champ who would have a legendary.
His skins also kind of suck so he could really use one. What skinlines would you guys want for him to get a legendary in? I feel like he has a lot of potential with his model
