Damn, I was really looking forward to this. Not the first time they've cancelled too. I wonder what the reason is. Anyone have some insider insight?

Rooftop bar for a drink near Terminal 21?

I'm in Bangkok for the weekend with my girlfriend. We will be at Terminal 21 for a quick dinner and would like to visit a rooftop bar with cool views for 1 drink. Nothing too formal. Any recommendations for something nearby that we can visit tonight?

Do Sweepsouth cleaners have all their papers to legally work?

I've been using the same Sweepsouth cleaner for a few months. We've recently decided to start employing her one day a week off the platform. She informed me she only has a passport and no papers to legally work. I assumed SS would vet the cleaners properly, but now I'm unsure. Anyone know if they do or don't?

Affordable spa with 2 hour package?

I'm staying in the Old City and need to check out on Monday at 12pm. Have a couple of hours to kill before heading to the airport for my local flight to BKK. I'm thinking of going with my gf to Fah Lanna Spa Old City for a 2 hour massage (1600 baht). Read it's good but open to other suggestions. For reference, flight is at 5:45pm so thinking of doing a 1:30pm booking.

I will be arriving in Thailand in 2 days. Will be there for 14 days. Looks like DTAC and AIS offer similar pricing. Which would you recommend for Bangkok and Chiang Mai?

Mt877 sitting in a box for 20 years

My brother got this for me when I was a kid. It was a pain to record everything. Don't have the heart to throw it out and not sure if there's any value. Might just keep it as a reminder of the physical media world.

Kara's adult career

After the recent Last Resort episode, curiosity got the best of me and I wanted to see if Kara's photos are really revealing or if it's just "suggested nudity" as she likes to put it. I found a free link with some videos and was shocked at the content. I'd be pissed if I was her husband too. Not sure if it's deepfakes or not. Anyone else seen them?

Can I claim Polish citizenship through a Jewish great-great-grandmother?

I've been researching my family tree and found that my great-great-grandmother Fanny Stone (later Fanny Greenblo) was born in Miedzyrzecz, Poland in 1893. She emigrated to the UK (showing up in the 1901 London census) and eventually to Cape Town, South Africa, where she died in March 1968.

Her parents were Shimon Stone (b. 1857, d. 1902) and Ester Stone née Grynberg** (b. 1862, d. 1911) — both also likely Polish-born based on the records I have. (need to confirm some of these details 100%)

My main concerns/questions:

  1. Does the fact that Fanny emigrated to South Africa and likely naturalised there break the citizenship chain?

  2. How do I find out whether she formally naturalised — and when that would have happened relative to the key 1951 cutoff date?

  3. Her parents Shimon and Ester are also in the records — does going one generation further back help or complicate things?

  4. Has anyone successfully claimed Polish citizenship through a similar chain — Jewish ancestor born in the 1890s who emigrated before WW2?

I'm based in South Africa (Commonwealth citizen) and would want to keep dual citizenship. Any lawyers or services people have had good experiences with would also be appreciated.

Trying to figure out if I can get a Latvian passport through Jewish ancestry - anyone been through this?

Been going deep on my family tree and found several Latvian-born ancestors:

- David Kingsbury (born Koenigsfest, b. 1887, Latvia) — my great-great-grandfather, emigrated to South Africa before 1940

- Jacob Koenigsfest (b. 1843, Hasenpoth, Courland) — David's father

- Marcus Joshua Konigsfest (b. 1807, Mitau/Jelgava, Courland) — Jacob's father, died there between 1876–1886

- Sarah Hinde Mandel (b. 1874, Latvia) — a different branch, emigrated to England then South Africa in 1913

All Ashkenazi Jewish families from Courland. The problem is they all left well before 17 June 1940, which seems to be the key date for the standard Latvian citizenship by descent / exile route.

I know Latvia has a specific provision for descendants of Latvian Jews displaced by the Holocaust, but since these ancestors left voluntarily before the war, I'm not sure how that affects eligibility. David is only 3 generations from me which seems the most promising route.

Has anyone successfully claimed Latvian citizenship through ancestors who left before 1940? Any experience with the OCMA process or specialist lawyers worth recommending?

Bangkok and Chiang Mai hotel suggestions

Hello everyone! Excited for our trip in roughly a month. We've done a ton of research but keep changing between options and still a bit undecided. Spoilt for choice!

We're in our mid-30's and looking for chilled vibes, markets, food, etc. Have booked Koh Samet for a few days but would love some suggestions for Chiang Mai and Bangkok.

Max budget is $100 per night. Not picky on hotel format (high rise, boutique, etc) just something that's pretty, easy access, good facilities. Just a few nights at each.

Thanks
