Cheap 410, Kofs?

Trying to get a spot on the 410 Open at Churchills. The only 410 I have is a converted Lee Enfield so will need to buy something else!

Obvious choice for something cheap seems to be the Yildiz or the Kofs?

Looking on guntrader, the Kofs seems to be the only one with 30” barrel options and also comes with a longer stock.

Any thoughts on these two or other options for something fun? Don’t want to go over £500 as it’s barely going to get used!

Mounting suggestions?

Potentially a case of just trying to fit too much here…

I cannot find a way to mount everything in a usable way so looking for ideas.

The pressure switch plate cannot go on top as with a thumb over it it blocks the peq.
I can’t move the red dot or magnifier back because of eye relief.
The torch only really goes on the side as underneath limits grip space.

Any ideas?

The mental element of shooting…

So I’m about 7-8 months into shooting. Over the past 6 weeks or so I’ve been averaging in the 70s for Sporting which I was pleased with.

I also race RC cars, so I like to think that some of the mindset from that has helped me with my shooting.
Focussing on consistency, no excuses bar myself, not letting mistakes ruin the rest of a session etc.

I like to think that I’m well disciplined with it, one bad stand is left behind and the next one is started from fresh etc.

Today has kicked my arse though! 🤣

First 8 stands were ok, then 9 was a 3. Nothing especially difficult target wise, just didn’t work.

Stand 10 was better, 8/10

Then shot 2 on stands 11 & 12, dropping 14 targets!

Just trying to work it through now. Ive shot a lot recently and I think my (for me) good results have got me a bit complacent. Someone in my squad pointed out my feet weren’t positioned well for example. I’m currently writing it off as me being slack with the basics. Complacency and potentially tiredness contributing towards it.

Just venting a bit really, would be keen on what other mental tips and tricks people have to keep them on form.

Plate carriers

My son is currently using a Bulldog Tactical pc that I picked up second hand.

He wants to get a new one that has a full Velcro cummerbund rather that qr to maximise available space.

We’re currently looking at the Krydex fcpc, but I’m reading mixed opinions. It coming from China is also against it. I’d much rather go to a bricks and mortar store to see them in person etc.

Budget wise I’m ok up to around £200

What should I be considering for him?

Suggestions for what next?

So my boy is bang into airsoft and is nagging me to come and play too.

He’s got:
TM hk416d
Aap01 on hpa
Umarex hk45

I’m looking for ideas on what to get that would serve two purposes
- suitable as a primary for me or him to use
- cool af
- in the £3-400 range

Yeah, I’d love to get a Wolverine, but I don’t want to spend that much!

I quite like that AKX style stuff…

Service options - GMK or find a good gunsmith?

After debating an "upgrade" I'm going to stick with my 686 E Evo. It's a 2022 gun but has seen a lot of use and I suspect it has not been serviced previously.

There are no actual issues with it, but I'd like to give it some tlc and a check over/internal clean etc.

I'm looking for thoughts on if I should send it to GMK via my local shop, or try and find a good local Gunsmith to do the work for me?

I'm in the Thames Valley area, recommendations would be useful.

First wood working attempt!

We’ve had this Pedersoli for a few months and the wood had a horrible varnished finish.

Stripped it down with a view to just cleaning the internals but thought I’d give it a go and refinish it. It wasn’t very expensive and I can’t make it any worse!

So far I’ve stripped it back, sanded with 320 then 600, flattened the grain and am now working up the coats of Alkanet oil to get some colour into it. Strangely, one side of the wood is lighter than the other, so I am planning to try and balance this with the oil coatings.

Pictures show it with
- Second coat of Alkanet applied
- stripped and wiped down
- disassembled before any work.

Open to any tips and advice!

Cleaning and refinishing suggestions?

Have decided to refinish the stock on our Pedersoli muzzle loader.

While it’s apart I want to clean and refinish what I can.

Looking for suggestions on what I can do with this metalwork…

Cleaning advice?

I’ve stripped down our Pedersoli 12g as I’m going to refinish the wood work.

Whilst it’s apart, I want to thoroughly clean everything else and potentially redo the colour case hardening finish.

What can I soak all of the metal parts in to thoroughly clean and strip them?

DE M916G any good?

Looking for a backup gun to the TM HK416, I can’t decide if we try something else or if we go all in and mod the TM with a titan etc.

I’ve seen that the DE guns respond well to a high volt Lipo and a few other bits too.

No real issues with the TM other than trying to get a faster fire rate and that a Wolverine is more than I want to spend!

Heavy duty fold down panel from ceiling?

I want to mount a 6x4 sheet of 18mm OSB to my garage ceiling and have it hinged in a way that a conventional up and over garage door would move. As in once it’s pulled down it hangs a right angle to the ceiling, but when folded up it slides back.

Does such a hinge/bracket exist? Open to any ideas!

Apologies for the mixed units!

Crudely edited photo to show what I mean…

Yellow is folded up, red is hanging down.

Does this comply with storage requirements of an air rifle?

Looking to purchase an air rifle.

I have children in the house aged 13 and 15.

I have a safe, but unsure if the rifle will fit in it. If it does then this is a closed case as it will go in there.

Any pellets will be stored in the safe regardless.

However, if it doesn’t fit, am I complying if the rifle is secured to a large anchor bolt which is mounted to brick work?
From what I read on the BASC site, I believe this complies. The weapon is secure and ammunition is stored separately.

Thanks

Help with incompatibility issue…

I’m trying to deal with an apparent incompatibility issue and am after suggestions.

The setup
Aap01
AirTac adapter
HK army 250rd mid cap mags
Lower has the usual trigger and hammer upgrades
Upper has the Ctm advanced bolt
200% nozzle spring
Standard main spring
No short stroke adapters
Running it at 100psi

The problem
With the mag fully loaded, it shoots fine.
Once it gets to around 150-100 left it will start missing rounds and get progressively worse to the point it needs manually cocking.

My thoughts
We tested the same setup with a standard upper from a friend and it worked ok with the HK army mags.
I appear to have an issue where either
- the mag spring tension drops too low to feed correctly unless it’s fully compressed
- or, the bolt is just too fast due to the lower weight as the feed rate/pressure slows slightly.

I’m quite new to airsoft still so keen for thoughts, do I…
- Get lower capacity mid cap mags that I understand will feed at a more constant rate?
- Get a different bolt, maybe the other Ctm one that it’s not machined out or even a standard one?

Open to any and all ideas! Thanks.

Truely waterproof cartridge bag?

I've got the blue Beretta cartridge bag, up until today I liked it, sensible size, well made etc.

However today has proven that it isn't remotely waterproof!

Any suggestions for something that can hold up to a bit of rain but isn't the size of a suitcase?

Not feeding properly

Looking for some pointers on how to trouble shoot the AAP not feeding properly.

It will fire when manually cocked, sometimes it will fire a second round, not often though.

We’ve pinpointed it to a problem with the upper as swapping to a friends upper was fine.

It’s the standard plastic upper, Ctm advanced bolt, 200% springs. It had a stroke reducer in but I’ve removed this and no change.

If I cycle it manually I can see it pick up a bb fine. My thinking is that the bolt is either cycling too fast or not going far enough back.

Current plan is to try and order both standard and 160% springs. I’m going to try cutting down the 200% springs in the mean time to see if that helps.

Everything is clean and lubed, but I’m at a bit of a loss as to what to try next!

Any ideas?

PCP air rifle fill valve vs HPA tank fill valve?

I’ve got a new hpa setup arriving tomorrow and I want to get some air in it to test before playing on Saturday.

The nearest place I can think of is a local gun shop who will fill pcp rifles. They have said they will do it, but obviously didn’t know if the hose/valve will be the same or not.

Can anyone help with what I need adapter wise to fill an hpa tank?

Looking for tips and advice on how best to clean and protect the action internals.

I've seen suggestions to use a CLP type spray and cotton buds to clean, then brush on a light coating of everything from a high quality engine oil through to petroleum jelly.

Is there a definitive best approach?
