The Keepers - Cathy Cesnik

I finished the series yesterday and I am heartbroken beyond repair.
Excellent documentary definitely my top 5 with closely followed by ICARUS. 3 identical strangers and Dear Zachary.

Law enforcement and every person involved essentially a man is part of the problem and beyond fixable.

-As a good citizen her sister gave the letter to the police and that breaks my heart she will never be able to read it. She should have sued them for this.
-No fingerprint testing done in 1992, 90's was when it become prominent for the law to do it, no DNA test on the cigarette. It was so clear that all of them involved wanted to hush hush the case.
-Only if we believe women and what they are saying for ONCE.
-Father died in his 60's but he GOT AWAY with so much! with the help of everyone involved.
-Who in their right mind will lie about a vagina being cut up and presented in front of them, why would anyone make that up? and of course no one believed him.

The strength and patience of all the women to dig deeper and deeper, warms and aches my heart simultaneously. They almost solved the entire case!

A piece of my heart will always be with Jane doe and I am going to write her a letter this evening.

To all the fellow survivors reading this as a survivor myself. I wanna hug you and never let you go.

The Keepers - 2 episodes in.

Ok so i just started watching this yesterday and episode one was very slow with no clue what's happening.
I was getting sleepy and anyway I was thinking to just turn it off.
THEN my pizza arrived and started watching episode 2 and OMG OMG OMG (My jaw is on the floor and I just want to kill that father who keeps inviting girls into his room by announcing on the speaker of which girl to invite, my gut is appalled)
I can't wait to go home and turn on episode 3.
No spoilers please!!

Don’t fuck with cats

I heard a lot about it and finally decided to watch it.

The ending of the doc was unnecessary and I get it they tried to end it on a bang but didn’t work out for me

They were trying to say something on the lines of if we’re the enablers of the murder he did of the Chinese student, but they did awful a lot to bring it to torontos police attention, no internet regulations for murdering of animals, it should have been a lawsuit for the social media on animal cruelty grounds.

But they did awful great fucking job better than the police to find him I feel. And as usual police only shows up AFTER a crime - the murder could have been prevented.

Ofcourse a backstory is necessary of the e bullying and loneliness but a lot of people go through the same, to reach a DELUSION point to portray your life as a movie is ballistic.

What do you guys think.

Icarus - I’m very late to this but here we go….

I didn't get it. I take part of the blame because I was watching before I fell asleep and had to watch it in multiple parts but it seems contrived. Warning spoilers below.

First Brian states that his goal is to dope, race, and hide it. We see Brian take weeks of steroids and such, pee, send off samples to his Russian lab. He trains so he can place high or win the Haute Route. Ultimately He ends up doing better than previous rides but still places pretty low. It starts with a mechanical failure and he never recovers. But the film never shows if he was tested for the ride and the results of the test. What was the point? He didn't do well, it wasn't shown if anyone suspected him of doping and we do not know if he was tested or the results of the testing. I just don't get it.

Then we have Grigory. Clearly he worked with a lab in Russia but that's where the facts stop. Where did it ever show that Brian's pee passed any WADA testing? Then the film switches gears that Russia is under investigation for doping in the olympics. Grigory resigns as director of the doping lab. He then fears for life and comes to the USA where he leaks a story to the NYT. Brian goes before the WADA committee and testifies on Grigorys behalf. Then Russia is banned from the Rio games. Then they are unbanned. Grigory goes into protective custody. So all of that for nothing? What happened with WADA? It seems like they are all corrupt and no one cares. Or maybe Grigory was fabricating the entire thing. I just don't get it.

Sweet Bobby - Dumbness or was she under some spell? if not then WTF was that.

I saw this and OMG, Also I think the woman is DUMB or some witchcraft black magic shit was done to her. NOT VICTIM BLAMING BUT
Let me explain - Why would she believe blatant lies (Victim protection, I can't talk on phone etc) those kind of stuff only happens in movies.
Who is comfortable having a online relationship beyond a few weeks or months, that reflects she has some serious traumas.
Also why didn't she leave an (Online relationship when she knew he got married)
It took her YEARSSSSSSSSSSS to go to his front door and confront him.
What the cousin did was fucked up beyond repair but she kept falling into MASSIC RED FLAGS, sometimes the SKY was red.

Dear Zachary - I’m emotionally DESTROYED after this.

Just finished it and OMG, I’m SOBBING. Shirley, She is literally a devil.
Andrew and Zackery were absolutely precious, and my heart aches for the grandparents. They have hearts of gold. ❤️ I genuinely want to drive to California right now just to hug those angels.

This was such a beautifully made documentary—so engaging, emotional, and somehow heartwarmingly informative at the same time. The quality was AMAZING, and the whole thing had this nostalgic feel that took me back to an older time. I LOVVVVVEEEEEDDDDD it.

What really got me was how genuine everyone felt. The relatives, the friends, the people in their lives—they all seemed so REAL and genuinely present in each other’s lives. There was something so refreshing
and beautiful about that.

My heart feels warm and sad at the same time.
This documentary is definitely in my top 3. I genuinely don’t think I’ll ever forget this film.

Tell me who I am (the Twin Documentary) Thread.

I watched it, and damn, it feels like the plot of a movie. I wanna know how Netflix searched for it or if it was one of the twins who went to Netflix and wanted to speak on camera to the other twin about what happened to them.

More than anything, I feel the SILENCE MUST BE DEAFENING to the one twin who did not lose his memory. Marcus Lewis His heart must have felt SO, SO HEAVY all the time, living in that house.
Specially when he refused the abuse and said NO, next morning it ended with NO COMFORT OR EXPLANATION.

And growing up, I did have an emotionally narcissistic father, and he would just give certain LOOKS and would ignore your existence for months, living in the same 330 sq. ft. house. And let me tell you, that heaviness is still in my heart.

I am glad Marcus did not forgive them while they were dying.

Abducted in plain sight - I watched it and I really want someone to hold my hand. (Spoilers ahead!)

What the actual fuck was that?

I’m honestly baffled by how casually the father in this story seemed to separate sex from emotional intimacy. Like… how do you just get into a car, give your “friend” a ha*d job, help him get off, and then carry on with your day like nothing happened?! 😭

And the mom??? I feel like the angle of her being somewhat jealous of her own daughter because she wanted B to choose her isn’t explored nearly enough hence it goes beyond denial.
There seemed to be this weird competition for his attention it must be in her head, and I kept wondering if she wanted to be the one he desired instead of Jan.

I’m honestly surprised this aspect of the story isn’t discussed more. What did everyone else think about the mom’s behavior?

And even after the kidnapping, they became cordial with B and the FATHER LETS HIM A MAN WHO KIDNAPPED HIS DAUGHTER IN HIS DAUGHTERS BEDROOM TO SLEEP NEXT TO HER FOR SOME SHITTY THERAPY? What the fuck was that about.

She Was More Than "The Pastor's Wife"

I just finished the Netflix docuseries, and I am heartbroken and furious.

The title bothers me. Why frame it entirely around her tragedy instead of honoring her light and how hard she fought to break free? Mica was a ray of hope, but JP tried to mold her into a puppet. I cannot fathom the sheer exhaustion she faced—forced into sexual compliance multiple times a day, then expected to sing on stage the next morning under horrific emotional manipulation.

A few things are absolutely boiling my blood:

  • The Weaponization of Religion: I’m not religious at all, but seeing JP’s sermons about "satisfying the husband or the devil will tempt him" made me sick. It’s disgusting how scripture is twisted to justify abuse.
  • ONE KEY FACTOR - The other church lady who was added accidently out about the messages between pastor JP and his best friend , she informed the church senior/leaders but of course when is a women ever heard!???
  • Family Intervention: As family and friends, our intuition tells us when a loved one is in danger. We try to give adults space and not meddle, but this showed me that sometimes boundary-respecting isn't enough. Sometimes you have to be firm and literally take control into your own hands to save someone.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on these questions: For those familiar with these church environments, how common is it for leadership to completely silence women who try to blow the whistle?

AIO or Is this fear rational, or is it a valid reason not to get married?

I have very strict boundaries after years of being treated badly, and sometimes I worry that my standards have become too high. But when I actually look at them, I feel like I’m mostly asking for basic respect.

I come from a developing country where women are often expected to sacrifice everything for their husbands and families. Because of that, one of my biggest requirements for marriage is financial security/freedom. By that, I don't mean living a luxurious lifestyle. I simply don't want to spend my marriage worrying about whether we can afford rent or groceries.

I'm actually pretty low-maintenance. I don't buy expensive designer clothes or bags. For example, I'll usually spend a maximum of around $15 on a top and $20 on bottoms. I don't get my nails done, I'm not constantly shopping, and I don't spend much on skincare or other luxuries. I just want to be comfortable and not financially stressed.

I grew up extremely poor, and I've been financially supporting my family since I was 15. I'm 27 now and still haven't really had the opportunity to spend money on myself. I also paid off $60,000 in student loans myself while working multiple jobs.

The things I want from a marriage are pretty simple:

  • Mutual respect
  • Loyalty
  • Kindness
  • Love and compassion toward animals
  • Someone who genuinely sees me as an equal
  • A man who is actually feminist, not just someone who says he is
  • Financial stability so that basic necessities aren't a constant source of anxiety

But there's one fear I can't seem to get past.

What if I marry someone and we're happy for 20–25 years, and then one day he cheats? Or I discover that he has been hiding something horrible about himself? What if he becomes attracted to someone younger when my body has changed with age, pregnancy, menopause, etc.? What if I spend decades building a life with someone only to find out that I cannot trust him?

I know there are good men in the world, but the risk is too high I feel, the odds are way to bad for me and always has been? What do I do?

Joe D'Amelio & Paige (Other observations - Ex-Giggler)

- I really really feel Hannah doesn't approve of JOE and maybe I am wrong but she can't really hide it anymore.
- They NEVER SPEAK BAD about any other celebrity, I understand it's a good thing to never speak bad about anyone , but then what's genuine/what's true/no real opinion. everyone is IDOL, ICONIC, WOMEN IN STEM ETC.
-Hannah is funny but not that funny, I love clever witty jokes and her comedy is just there/plain/vanilla. like she is saying what everyone is thinking but on the stage.
- Yes they are ITALINAS.
- Paige is hailed as a fashionista but her fashion is just there/plain/vanilla.
-Maybe the reason they started talking about documentaries instead of Sitcoms/movies is because they do not upset a celebrity lol.

How much of "not knowing how to do basic chores" (like laundry or cooking) is genuine confusion versus weaponized incompetence?

I genuinely want to know what goes on in the mind of someone like that? ": when I see people mention they don't know how to do laundry—like i saw a video on ig ''my mom having to teach my dad to do it because she is leaving for three weeks after 30 years of marriage''—I cannot comprehend how someone does not know.
I am sure everyone is aware of detergent and the instructions on the machine. I moved countries, entered a laundromat, recharged the card, bought the detergent and softener, and did my laundry.
What is so hard about it? Or is it just weaponized incompetence?"
I am deeply curious.
