Should I replace my tyres?

The thread depth at the sides are 2mm at the lowest and the center is 3-4mm. Is this okay for a few more years or should I change it

Edit: pardon my noob question as I am indeed a car noob. Looking at the replies here, I think I'll probably change my tyres soon

What to do with DBS points less than 5000 and can't convert to miles?

So I have 2+ k points expiring in sept. The max points I can get is another 2k for august spend, still can't hit the minimum transfer of 5000 points block.

Any good things to spend these points on?

Will custom stage one tune damage ND1 1.5?

I'm planning to do a stage one tune for my ND1 1.5 with a local car tuner shop. He has many positive reviews from other car models and even a friend of mine who sent his ND to tune.

My question is, how easy it is to mess up a stage one turn such that it causes damage to the car? Or do most tuners know how not to push a car until it breaks?

To those who exercise outdoors at 12noon, why?

The UV index sonetimes reaches 12 during midday, and that's the max of what NEA can report, maybe it is more than 12 who knows.

And yet I see people swimming/jogging at 12 noon. My question are for those who do this. Why not do an indoor form of exercise during this time or do your outdoor activity later in the afternoon/evening. Aren't you aware this level of UV is extremely hazardous?

I'm not trying to stir shit I'm just genuinely curious because I'm reaching 30 and I'm very afraid of UV rays causing premature ageing and skin cancer so this is very baffling to me

Anyone feels the ND is too goated it will be hard to make an NE?

I'm probably biased but does anyone wonder how can Mazda top the ND with their new gen Miata? ND already has a goated design which is tough to improve on, driving dynamics are all dialed in perfectly with ND3, soft top mechanism can't possible be improved on.

The only thing that they could probably do is a proper hard top that retracts like the NC and arguably more HP (which I personally find unnecessary) But these factors alone still make it hard to justify a new generation.

Tldr I just can't wait for the NE but how can they possibly improve on the ND? Personally I feel the ND design is the perfect mix of old school cutesy Miata with modern angry and aggressive stance

Can pedestrians please give way to cars in non zebra/traffic light situation?

Unless you guys want to die? As a motorist, it's very difficult to predict whether this pedestrian wants to yield or cross. I usually am on high alert and prepare to stop to pedestrians if they decide to cross but that can't be said for ALL motorists. You encounter one goondu and you're dead/injured.

So please, at these areas, please yield to cars unless the car gives way.

New SSR shoes!

Just fitted 16" SSR GTX01 in dark silver. Happy with the outcome but I was hoping that it would be lighter in shade, it did look much lighter before I installed it. Oh well .....

The stock 16" rims are 6.9kg

I don't know if anyone needs to hear this, but I've just weighed the stock rims and they are 6.9kg (nice)

Changed to a rim that weighs 6.35kg and I'm not sure if it's placebo but the car felt lighter and more nimble. Does shaving off 550g per rim matter much in a ND or am I just imagining things

What do you think of people driving convertibles, if any?

So I drive a convertible car and I think it's cool and fun af. But whenever I pull up to a traffic stop , I get very self conscious as I feel very exposed and convertibles are a relatively rare sight in Singapore.

So just a random question what goes through your mind when you see someone drive a convertible, if any at all.

Can I use Adam gloss and shine on my ONR ?

So I've read that Adam H20 gloss and shine should ideally be used on a wet car. Should I....

Wash car with ONR, dry it bone dry with my towel, wet the car again with water, use Adam's H20, dry again.

Or

Wash car with ONR, with the remaining ONR on the car, proceed with Adam's H20 and dry

Or

Wash car with ONR, spray on water onto an ONR wet paint, proceed with Adam's H20.

I feel like option three is the best and easiest. But I don't have access to a hose, only a tap so I would just mist on water with my pressure pump spray.

Can I leave this body paint chip alone

Hello all I recently reversed my car into a pillar and make a deep knick on the fender and some light scratches on the bumper. I don't really care too much about the aesthetics of it and I plan to sell the car in another 2 years.

My question is can I safely leave this alone or would the exposed metal start to rust and cause issues? I daily drive this car in a non coastal area with 85-95F tempt /80-90% humidity.

If I can't leave this safely then what are my options ?

Edit: sorry it's a 2018 Mazda mx5

Can we appreciate how good the quiet space static part in space debris is

Its such a genius addition to the song which really captures the sense of drifting through space all alone. It makes the final chorus that much more dreadful. It's such a masterful addition and I think the final chorus would not have had such an impact without it.

Bravo bravo Mr Muse !

How to make my soft top black again

I've tried all the usual things. I've cleaned it with 303 cleaner and used gtechniq conditioner on it. It's slightly better but still not great. Any ideas how to make it blacker without replacing it. I've heard of black dye but I also heard it may wash away

Question about rev match/downshift

I've been trying to rev match by pressing and releasing (blipping) the pedal. My question is what if I just gently depress the gas pedal to the same rpm as if I were blipping it and hold it there whole I release the clutch. Is this an appropriate way to downshift ?

I'm not going to raise the rpm a lot. Kinda like easing the clutch while stepping on the gas when you go from rest to gear one

Spray rims yay or nay?

I'm looking to change the colour of my rims from black to sliver. I don't want to spend money buying new rims as my car will be expiring in 2 years (might extend coe but see what's the price), just want a temporary change to make myself feel abit more shiok.

Was looking at carousell and saw this person respray rims for 180 all four rims. Said he will be sanding and use 2k lacquer paint which is what the general consensus is online about how to respray rims

My question is how many years does it last in Singapore and will it look like shit after a while? I daily drive my car but park indoors

Any things to buy that improves driving quality of life ?

Anyone has good suggestions on small things to buy from shoppee/AliExpress that greatly improves driving qol? I'll start with two myself

  1. 12v socket fast charger. All this while I've been slow trickle charging my phone, when using android auto, can't even gain a charge. With the 12v socket, I can super fast charge my phone

  2. Xiaomi portable tyre pump. I'm super paranoid about my tyre pressure so I will check my tyre pressure at the petrol station every 1-2 weeks when I pump. First it takes damn long because usually there is a queue and the attachment is always very loose and hard to fill. Secondly the tyre pressure detected is usually inaccurate. With this portable inflator, I can check and top up my pressure in under 5 seconds per tyre !

Is petrol station air pump pressure accurate?

I'm trying to monitor my car tyre pressure since it's a new used car. The factory reccomended pressure is 29psi/2bar. I installed a wireless tpms pressure monitor system (the one that attaches to the hub, not the internal type) and it always shows as 1.9/2.0 bar when cold but stays constant even after driving for a while (which is odd)

I went to the gas station just now to pump and it shows that all the tyres are severely under inflated at about 22-24 psi.

So my question is, are the gas station pumps accurate or do I follow my tpms system.

Also bonus question is how accurate are these tpms systems bought from shoppee. It doesn't show my pressure increasing as I drive longer which is weird

Stock versatuner Vs Fab9

I'm planning to do a ECU remap for my ND1 1.5l , I don't plan on doing any hardware related mods. I'm considering these two.

Versatuner is slightly cheaper and I can get to flashing the stock tunes immediately. But I'm concerned I may get better performance with a custom fab 9 tune.

I don't mind the extra cost for fab9 but I reside outside of US and I'm concerned they may not reply my email, calling them on landline would be a huge hassle.

So my question is, is fab9 tune better than a stock versatuner remap ? Is it that much better such that it is worth the potential hassle of dealing with fab9 outside of the US?

Good mobile detailler for ceramic coating

I'm looking to do a 2 step polish and ceramic coat for my car, my budget below 400. Looking to get a mobile detailler as my thinking is they would be cheaper since they don't have overhead costs. Any good reccomendation?

I don't want to go JB do as the car needs to be kept out of rain for 1-2 days and I don't want the weather unpredictability of driving back from JB
