how long did it take you to regain full ROM after tto/oca (or any major knee surgery)?

Hey guys, I'm currently around 6 months post op, but I've been struggling with my ROM. I really tried to put effort, but it was progressing really slowly. I can push it to around 105 degrees, get it comfortably (after some minor stretching or heat) to 90 degrees, but it still kind of stiffens sometimes to like 65-70 degrees. I was wondering if anyone has had success with eventually gaining full ROM (even if its not the same surgery), but just took a lot longer. I want to avoid a scar tissue removal if possible, but it's kind of rough out here.

need some advice about taking time off (medical reasons)

So, I'm supposed to be an incoming second year at a big engineering school (but I've only taken 1 semester bc I took spring/summer off for medical reasons--big knee surgery). I was doing well, and I'm suddenly having a few complications. It's not the worst thing ever, so I can still walk if I have to, but I'm definitely a bit more stressed than I was a few weeks ago, because now I have to balance my health (now on top of doing PT for one knee, I have to do it for my other knee too and other stuff 😭), clubs, classes, and internship prep.

I already have more than 60 credits, so it's not like I'm too behind. I guess I was wondering if I should take more time off or just thug it through the fall semester.

My issue is that I may have to take the spring off anyways for a follow-up surgery, so idk if taking so much time off is the right choice. I'm not sure if that would be better than thugging out a semester and then leaving the next (which is what I did last year too lol).

I'm just quite conflicted because it's not like I can't walk at all, but I'm just worried that I won't be able to handle all the stress lol, especially because I wanted to get involved in clubs. And about taking a lighter load - ig I could but I'm OOS and I don't really want to waste time and money.

Any advice? What would you guys do?

I'm not sure what I did, but now my hip is clicking and apparently my left knee cap is slightly out of alignment (this stuff has never happened before).

It's not the worst thing ever bc the pain isn't unbearable (and frankly there isn't a ton of pain, I'm just worried about why this is happening), so I can still walk if I have to, but I'm definitely a bit more stressed than I was a few weeks ago, because now I have to balance my health (now on top of doing PT for one knee, I have to do it for my other knee too and hip ig 😭), clubs, classes, and internship prep.

changing majors (over 60 credits but no major specific classes yet)

So I'm thinking of switching from AE to ME. I'm technically going into my second year, but I haven't taken any major specific classes yet because I took a semester off, so I thought it would be a good time to switch. However, I somehow have a bit more than 60 credits, so I'm not sure if the process would be harder. Worst comes to worst and I can't switch until next semester, am I able to use like the AE dynamics class in place of ME dynamics class? I understand that they have different focuses, but it seems counterintuitive to take another dynamics class.

people with patellar maltracking/vmo issues

So I recently found out that my left knee is slightly misaligned. This kind of sucks because I just got surgery on my other knee, so now both aren't in great shape + I'm going back to school soon so its a lot of walking.

Has anyone been able to mostly reverse their tracking issues and strengthen their vmo?

question about the readmission process?

So I'm supposed to be going into my second year at Tech, but I've actually only attended on semester (last fall) because I had to get surgery in the spring, but i did fine in all my classes. I thought I'd be ready to come back by now, but I'm having issues all of a sudden, and I'm nervous that I won't be able to handle the stress of my injuries and classes and clubs. I was thinking of taking another semester or two if I have to (which rly sucks but whatever), so I know I'd have to apply for readmission.

I was just wondering what the process is like. Is it difficult to get re-accepted? Thanks!

knee flare up??

Hey guys,

So I'm currently ~6 months post op from an OCA and TTO (not rly an ACL injury but didn't know where else to post this) and recovery was going slow, but decently. However, last week, I went to the gym and was doing a free 1 hr training session, and most of the stuff was ok. I did a stability ball hamstring curl on the ground, and I felt a little pop in my lower hamstring close to my knee, but it didn't hurt or anything afterwards. I got up just fine, and went to the stationary bike afterwards.

However, I immediately noticed a clicking sensation while riding the bike, and was lowkey freaking out bc I had been struggling with this for years and I thought it was finally gone after the TTO. Again, it didn't hurt but it was so odd. A day later, my hip starting popping. It was quite audible too. Not painful, but I've literally never experienced this before.

2 days later, I did acupuncture in my glutes and hips bc they are overactive/overcompensating for my lack of quad muscle in my surgical knee. It felt fine, but a day or two later, my good knee starting hurting a bit too and clicking a bit (not as apparent as the surgical knee). It also felt a bit unstable (like if I turn too quickly, it might dislocate), it might've been a tiny bit swollen. My whole body was crack-a-lacking too but most of that went away (thank god) + hip cracking has slightly reduced.

Basically, it's been a week and my knees are still feeling a bit weird. I'm not sure if I just strained them bc I have been going to the gym more. Additionally, when I was at the gym, my trainer had me on the ground for some exercises, when frankly I should've said no to bc I hadn't gotten up from the floor a lot since my surgery, but it wasn't painful so I thought I was ok.

It's just so weird to me that all of this started all of a sudden. It's also hard to tell where it came from since so many things have happened lately (gym, acupuncture, and cortisone injection a few weeks ago).

In summary,

my knees have just been feeling off lately. They're hurting a bit more and I can feel clicking in them as well. For my surgical knee, I can't tell if it's really crepitus because it feels more like a tendon going over another tendon or something than a grinding sensation that I used to feel pre-surgery, and a few days ago it was more like cavitation/gas bubbles. For my "good" knee, it kind of feels like it did when I was first post-op and putting a lot of pressure on it, and the clicking from my hip seems to be making its way down to my knee (idek). I'm not sure if it's just a knee flare up or whats going on.

cracking in joints after accupuncture?

Hey guys, I just tried acupuncture for the first a few days ago to target my weak quads/glutes. I had the needles placed in my lower back, glutes, and other areas. However, I'm not sure if I'm just being paranoid and noticing these things more, but I feel like my whole body has been "cracking" more. Like you know when you've been sitting for awhile and you get up and you feel a crack? It's not painful, but it's super weird. I'm noticing it in my upper back too.

Is this normal?

question about knee cap movement with quad activation after knee surgeries/atrophy/etc

So, on a normal knee, the knee cap usually glides down a bit when you activate the quad. Right now, my surgery knee is super atrophied. Is this the reason why I don't see as much knee cap movement when flexing? Also, for those who have mostly/fully regained quad strength, does the knee cap eventually glide like normal again?

is this mold on my bedroom wall?

For context, I have an attached bathroom, but it's pretty small because I guess my room is like a "guest" bedroom. I occasionally find silverfish in the bathroom and in my bedroom. I found two today though which is kind of unusual, but the weather has also been really hot and my air conditioning isn't great. I noticed this on the wall next to my bed, and I'm worried that it's mold. It's a really small patch. Is this dangerous?

Get Schooled/True Education got a kdrama adaptation!!

I remember loving this webtoon until...yk

Genuinely so disappointing and gross. I remember thinking that one arc was hella weird too bc korea is very homogenous country so wdym the foreigners are the one's bullying the koreans. I'm not saying it doesn't happy irl, I'm sure it does, but it's probably not as much as foreigners getting bullied.

Honestly I was really surprised that it got an adaptation because of all the drama after it's scandal. It was taken off webtoon and I believe the English version got completely cancelled?

Now, the drama probably isn't going to contain that racist part, but it still feels odd to support it.

Also it's on netflix, which tells me that they want it to be seen internationally, which is kind of crazy considering that chapter was xenophobic and racist (particularly to POC and mixed people). Obviously most people who are casually viewing it on netflix probably don't know about the whole scandal.

How do yall feel about it getting an adaptation?

I need help with the voltage readings on this simple multism circuit

Hey guys! So for my physics 2 class, our professor is having us simplify a basic capacitor circuit and then confirm our numbers in multism. I built the circuit but I'm having trouble with the voltage readings. This version of multism only has these voltage probes and I've messed around with it for hours and I cannot figure this out. I keep getting really odd readings, and I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. My professor isn't very helpful, so any advice is truly appreciated.

how has hybe x geffen screwed over a group before they even got started

Like genuinely 😭

I could probably find random people on the street and it would still be more cohesive than this. Who tf chooses a member based on potential. Like one person is actually really talented vs. one person who COULD be talented?

here's just some of the stuff they fumbled:

- Creating ANOTHER girl group like 2 years after your first one debuted

- Going down the same ridiculous line of forced diversity over talent. Why did their next member HAVE to be japanese specifically? Why is collecting ethnicities the goal.

- Debuting a minor alongside grown adults

- Giving them songs that aren't actually meaningful/that developed musically (jing-a-ling-a-ling?? + the fact that We Ride has melodies that are super similar to impurities by le sserafim)

Who let these guys be producers 😭😭

how can I make my heatless/braid curls last all day?

Hey guys!

I'm pretty new to the haircare scene lol so idrk what I'm doing. I've been using leave-in, hair gel (although the one I use lowk sucks--no cast or strong hold or anything, i think im just gonna use up the bottle and get a better one), and then argan oil recently. My hair is still pretty frizzy even after that, so I tend to leave it in braids. I love the way it looks when I take the braids out in the morning or try heatless curls. However, the waves only last like an hour before falling out and looking frizzy again.

Does anyone have any products or recommendations on how to keep the curls lasting all day (preferably with products under $15/20 each)? Maybe I just need to use a better gel. Or do i need to use hairspray or something?

question about ROM and settling/stiffness (OCA/TTO)

So I'm able to get to like 95ish degrees (finallyyy). However, I have to warm up on a stationary bike to loosen it up for at least 20 minutes. I've also been noticing that within 15-20 minutes of getting of the bike/not actively bending, my knee re-stiffens and settles at like 50/60 degrees.

Is this normal? Does it eventually go away?
