Apartments to look into and ones to avoid

Hi I'm F late 20s who is hoping to move to Tacoma soon after I'm able to get another job. I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations on apartments and which apartments to avoid. As far as rent goes, I will be able to probably afford something between $1,400-$1,600. I'm also hoping to find a place that is pet friendly too because I have a medium/large dog and cat.

Tacoma neurodivergent women & nonbinary folks in Tech/IT UPDATE

UPDATE! The 15% Board Game Cafe has approved of us coming on Sep 5th!!

So this is actually happening! 🥳

They said to make sure that everyone who wants to come is aware of checking in and that there is a sitting fee for the game area, but please check out their website and read through it, then let me know if you still want to come :)

Just a reminder, this will be for people mid 20s to mid 30s who are in tech/IT.

Thank you so much to everyone who showed interest and encouraged me when I first posted about this. 💜

I'm really happy that there seems to be enough interest to actually make this happen!

EDIT: I also wanted to shorten the time of the meetup from 12pm-2pm this way we have time to play games if we wanted to, but not get too bored if anyone doesn't want to play any of the board games.

Any other demis trying/tried dating apps?

I'm double demi and bi, and I have been on and off dating apps for YEARS at this point. I kinda want to try them again, but it's so hard because I don't match with people who are just as curious about me as I am them and they usually just want sex and I've only been attracted to like 4 people so far in my life. 😭 if you've been on dating apps how do you navigate them as someone who's demi? And have you been able to find people who are comfortable with moving slower?

Tacoma neurodivergent women & nonbinary folks in Tech/IT, would you be interested in a local social group?

I recently came across a Tacoma group for neurodivergent/autistic men in Tech, which is awesome, and I'm glad there are spaces being created for people to connect locally.

It did make me wonder, though, would anyone be interested in a similar group for neurodivergent/autistic women and nonbinary people in tech in the Tacoma area?

I haven't been able to find much locally that fills that niche, so I was thinking about possibly creating something myself if there's enough interest. The idea would be a low-pressure, welcoming space to make friends, hang out, share interests, and meet other neurodivergent people in the area.

It could be something simple like casual meetups at cafés, parks, libraries, game nights, craft nights, or other activities people are comfortable with.

If you'd be interested, feel free to comment or DM me! I'd also love to hear what kinds of activities or meetups you'd actually want. 💜

EDIT: Okay, everyone, it looks like this is going to be a thing! I reached out to The 15% Board Game Cafe about being there from 12PM-4PM on September 5th, and am just waiting for a response now! Also, this will be for people mid 20s to mid 30s.

Australian Shepherd VS German Shepherd

Hi! I'm new to this subreddit. I love dogs and want to become a certified positive reinforcement dog trainer when I get my next dog and do dog sports. I've always wanted a German Shepherd, but not sure if I will ever be able to have one due to just renting apartment/homes.

I grew up with an Australian Shepherd from working lines and she was one of the best dogs I've ever had. I was playing with the idea of getting another one since a German Shepherd does not seem like an option right now.

I'm wondering, for people who have had both Australian Shepherds and German Shepherds, how similar and or different are Australian Shepherds compared to German Shepherds? How have people who rent places able to own German Shepherds? TIA!!

Looking for a place where I can learn to train dogs

Hi! I was wondering if anyone knows of any places where I can potentially work with dogs using positive reinforcement. I grew up with dogs, but I don't have any right now and can only get one after I move out. I want to become a certified dog trainer one day. I've been reading dog behavior books, but am hoping to find people who know dogs and their behavior well and get more experience working with them before moving out and getting a puppy.

Just found out about Caroline's sunroom after over a year of playing this game 😭

I found out about tea leaves, and then I was like "how do you get them 🧐" and went down a rabbit hole and found out how to get them. I've been playing Stardew for over a year now, but had no idea that Caroline's sunroom existed 😅 What discoveries have you made after playing the game for a while? 🧐

I'm so frustrated with my life right now

I'm stuck at home trying to get an IT job so that I can move out now that I've graduated. I don't have my driver's license and car yet because my "mom" has done everything in her power to keep me from getting one, and not having them at this point is fucking up my chances of getting a job. I'm so fuckin pissed because I finally found a job willing to hire me, but they are far away and since I'm going back to school in a few months, so I will probably have to decline, and my mom made sure I did not have any friends and or close connections since I was a child. And when I have made friends, they have not been great people themselves. I have been starting to feel helpless because of not having any friends and being stuck at home.

Getting to Seattle from Tacoma

Hi! I have a job interview in Seattle, but I don't live there and also don't have a car. Is there anyway I can still get to Seattle and it be convenient? I'm a college student so I have to factor study time to see if it's doable.

UPDATE: I looked up how to get to where I needed to before posting this, but I wanted to know if it was convenient. I also have AuDHD and that can make it extremely difficult to focus in certain places. Thank you to all the kind people who chimed in!!! I'm going to give it a test run!!

About to graduate college

I'm about to graduate with my associate's and to be honest, it's been most exhausting periods of my life. I thought college would be a time where I would make friends, have new experiences, and start building a life for myself. Instead it's been stressful, lonely, and frustrating.

I've been isolated most my life by my abusive parents, and right now I'm trying to find a job so I can save money and eventually leave home. Some days it feels like all my energy goes toward surviving and planning my escape.

I'm trying to stay hopeful, keep busy, and move forward, but lately the loneliness has been hitting me hard. Has anyone else felt this way while trying to build a life after growing up in an unhealthy family environment? What helped you keep going?

Trying to figure out if I should leave abusive household

I don't think I will get out of here unless I actually leave by finding a safe place to stay. My Nmom has always been emotionally unstable, abusive, and manipulative and things are getting worse now that I'm trying to become independent, get my driver's license, and get jobs. She has always made sure that I'm dependent on her and I don't pay for my phone. The only reasons I don't leave now are because I don't have any friends who could let me stay with them and I have some expensive things that I need to take with me so that I'm able to increase my chances of getting a job.

I've spent so many years dealing with her and I don't put anything past her, but I'm feeling very stuck because I have reached out to places only to be turned away because it's not partner violence. Honestly, I don't know what to do.
