Races

Is it even about horse racing? Or just a gathering of young folk getting hammered, and a fashion show

Was it always like this, and was it better before?

Now at 45,000km.

Sorted any water ingress issues already.

I want to keep this car for as long as possible, i have no need to get rid of it.

How long can i get out of it

Buying tires online and having them fitted by a shop

Hi,

Is it cheaper, in your experience to buy tires online
and have a tire shop fit them or just pay for the tires the shop has already

Thanks

Saloons vs crossover/suv

Once upon a time the market was flooded with everything.. jetta, saloon focus astra.. nissan almera. Passat vectra mondeo.

I miss the saloon, fed up of the likes of opel grandland/mokka vw taigo.

Dechroming

Why do people dechrome their cars? I understand it is to make it look more sporty… like a black edition s line or a m sport shadow edition. But… when I see a passat or a6 with no chrome. It can be easily mixed up for a base model trendline.

Do people try and fake a black package appearance, but it ends up looking like a base spec

First car 1.4 tsi chain caxa vs 1.6 tdi cayc

First car whats better insurance comes up similar on both. Manual golf/passat/jetta 2008-2013. 130-200k km.. if tsi chain will be done if not already.
Under €4.000
Would 1.6 tdi strictly be required weekly motorway use

1.4 tsi CAXA

Hey,

Are these a safe buy. Looking to buy both

Caxa 165,000km. 2009 jetta. Full vw dealer service history. Chain replaced at 136,000km. No rattle cold start.

2012 passat caxa. 135,000km. Original chain, no issues, no rattle on cold start. Full vw(japan) dealer service history. Dq200(not been serviced)

I think safe. But I am more familiar with ea211 setups

Japan import: DIY/Dealer

Hey,
Looking to import (DBA-AUCPT) golf 7 1.4 tsi 2015/2016 dsg from japan milano edt.

Can i save money by importing myself, doing paperwork myself, going to the vrt myself etc etc?

Is it worth the hassle for one car?

I understand theres alot of stuff you probably have to do like have a guy at the auction check the car out for you insurance when shipping etc?

Will be my first time importing a car myself

€15k. 30,f. What do i buy

Hey,

Ive €15k, max €16k to buy a car
5 year credit union loan. I will cover 100,000km through this.
Ideally reliable over the loan period.

I have 2 older kids. Not in the car with me often.

Mon-fri i travel 20km to work. 2km at lunch.
20km going home.
This is on 80kmh R roads. Completely rural no traffic lights or junctions. Just open road.
Weekend we use my husbands car generally.

Not peugeot/citroen/renault/opel/vauxhall. Have had too many issues with all these before.

Requirements
-Automatic gearbox
-B segment minimum
-Aircon(dualzone preferred)
-Passenger seat height adjustment(IMPORTANT, hard to find on japanese brands)
-Heated seats would be nice but not required
-Not estate
-I will be driving on crap roads

Nothing below 40mpg(uk).

Would i get away with a diesel? I go on a motorway maybe 4 times a year 🤷‍♂️ . My husbands car is 2.0 diesel octavia estate.

Dislike toyota chr… test drove one wasnt happy too dark, no passenger seat height adjustment, despite being fairly good spec otherwise.

Is there a particular year range i should go to for the best value for money?

My husband has only ever had vag, and he was always happy.

Egr delete 1.9 tdi nct

I have a golf 5 2008 400km 1.9 tdi pd105 bxe. €280 tax per year, excellent on fuel ive had it since new.
Egr light on for 10 years. Mechanic said its fine and he cant find anything wrong.

Id like to delete the egr to expand the life of the engine. Getting fed up of turning off light just for nct comes back in a few days.
Will it still pass the nct?

The car has no dpf from factory.
Cars been running fine for 10 years lads with that light.

With this, is a stage 1 worth it?
Has to pass nct
