How would you replace?

This fence is falling apart, but the posts are set into a giant trough of concrete. No clue how deep, but I have no interest in renting a jackhammer and then lifting all this concrete out into a trailer by hand, then unloading at the dump.

My current plan is to cut the posts at the bottom. Then use those metal brackets to bolt the post to the concrete a few inches over.

The problem is the concrete isnt level. What would you use to shim under rhe metal bracket? I'm afraid wood will rot.

What's the best approach?

DIY Light Kit

Hey everyone,

I'm hoping someone has made a writeup about how to build a kit like these from scratch. I have lights and I just plug them into power now. But I'd rather control them with a button on my transmitter. I know $9 isn't a ton of money, but I'd rather buy some stuff on aliexpress and be able to build like 10 of them for $9. Plus I could probably keep the size down for my scx 24 and 30.

From what I can tell my receive puts out 0.4 volts on the signal, then it drops to like 0.02 volts when that channel is activated. So I assume I just need a little relay. Even if someone has a relay recommendation, I can try to figure it out from there and post my own writeup. I tried to search, but only found people with complicated projects using microcontrollers with brake lights and other neat things. I want to go simpler than that.

Engine Storage

What is the recommended procedure to store a disassembled engine? I have it in a shed with no climate control. I'm starting to see rust on the deck, crank and exterior of the block. I cannot assemble it because I will eventually need to carry it over grass part by part to the garage.

Should I oil it up and wrap in plastic? Should I take it to a machine shop for a hot tank/cleaning first? It may be here for a long time.

Smokey The Bear Says

Put out your campfires please. I came across this fire today with absolutely no one around.

If you camped here last night, you need to just flat out do better.

I used all the water I had, and buried it in ash the best I could. There were still some embers and my drive home was far thirstier than I wanted it to be.

VRD Carbon Build

After a few months of enjoying my mostly stock SCX10 iii Coyote, I'd like to try my hand at a build. I'd rather do a fresh build to have a second vehicle to share with a friend or my wife. Then I'll upgrade the Axial later. I really enjoy working at hard lines more than just moseying down a trail so I'm building with that in mind. Located in the PNW if that matters.

Can anyone provide some input into this parts list? I'd like to save as much as I can without too much compromise. This is all going to be over $1000 after shipping and taxes, which is quite a bit of money. I was thinking of going with the 1800Kv esc/motor instead. Is that worth saving $35?
I haven't ever used a high end servo, but the 35kg blue amazon servo I put on the coyote is still a bit lackluster, so I'd like to try a good one. Is there a better one to go with maybe under $100?

I'm not on facebook, and I don't know anyone else in the hobby, so I don't have access to a used parts market.

I really appreciate any input or feedback.

Plastic or Metal Link Ends?

https://reddit.com/link/1twzty8/video/ucmu1fo8tb5h1/player

Video of a tricky spot on a local line just for attention to the post.

I've broken a couple link ends recently (stock plastic ones) and bent one link. I ordered a set of thicker links that came with new plastic ends. I also ordered a set of metal link ends. They turned out to be too small so I won't use them. But now I'm wondering if plastic is better anyways as an intentional weak point. Am I being smart running plastic ends, rather than bending a link or breaking an axle? I'd much rather replace a few link ends than an axle. Or should I get the metal ends and the rest of the truck should be strong enough?

Also, does anyone know where to find a proper link set for the coyote? I bought this thicker set on amazon but they don't all fit, just the rears and the front lowers. Not the steering arms or the singular upper front.

Some backyard rubble

I accidently pinned it into the shed when I got distracted after this and broke my first part - a front link. Sad way to end an evening crawl.

Tandem Bicycle Event?

I remember an event years ago for tandem bicycles riding around town. I looked it up I can't find anything about it.

Is this still an event?

I've got a 1998 Tacoma. 5spd 4wd with like 185k miles. Located in PNW. I'm looking to sell it, but there's some problems. I'm wondering if you would sell as is, or try to do some repairs if you were in my shoes.

The body is in not amazing shape (some dents and scratches, not much rust).
It's got blocks in the suspension and 35" K02's. Ebay headers, no cat, K&N intake, a nice Kicker sound system (2 amps, 4 speakers, and down firing 12" sub). Basically stock with some cheap mods mostly done by previous owner. I'm thinking this truck might be worth $5-6k if I fix everything below?

The problems:

-Some kind of oil leak. Looks like valve covers a little, but mostly oil pan, and potentially front/rear of the crankshaft. There's so much oil everywhere, I can't tell. Could also be coming from the front diff.
-Axle boots are ripped.
-Squeaky throwout bearing. It's gotta get replaced soon. The clutch is also in questionable condition.
-I'm not sure on the suspension. Leafs are sagging. I get a clunk when I rip around a corner hard (has sway bar delete, so it could just be a tire hitting the body).
-Drivers seat belt is completely thrashed and barely comes out. Has been cut thinner multiple times because it's fraying.

With all these issues, I'm thinking the truck is worth maybe $3k?

Are my prices accurate both with and without the repairs? Would you fix it before selling, or just make it the next person's problem?

For those that have done the rear main/throwout bearing/clutch and the dropping of the front diff to fix the oil pan gasket, how much work is this timewise. Keep in mind I'm a shade tree idiot who will be smoking a bunch of weed and drinking rainiers the whole time. But I know my way around a wrench.
