Only offered Tylenol + Advil for full mouth extraction

I know we are trying to fix the drug crisis here in America but does no dentist seriously give out any decent pain meds anymore? Tylenol and Advil combo really doesn't ease any pain in my experience. I've had 5-6 regular extractions and the OTC stuff, even at the higher prescribed doses, did nothing.

I've been browsing /r/dentures and the agreed upon method of pain management is "finding the old bag of Percocets from your knee surgery 8 years ago". It is both surprising how many people do have that bag laying around, and sad that it has to come to that. I did resort to this once when I had to abort an extraction half way (Novocaine didn't work despite being pumped into me like crazy) and was shaking in pain, but the 2-3 pills I had at my disposal are long gone (last year) and it's not an option anymore. If we didn't happen to have those 3 pills floating around in our house from a past surgery, I don't know how I would have made it through that pain. And that was just one tooth.

I am severely anti-drug, have no addiction issues, don't drink any alcohol just by choice, but what I do have is a low pain tolerance. I just feel like lots of other people have ruined this for us who really do need it

Is it worth pushing harder to try and get something from my oral surgeon's office that actually helps or will that look like I'm trying to score some drugs for the heck of it? If they have a database or something of past prescriptions, I've never been prescribed anything that controlled in my life - not a repeat offender

So disappointing as somebody not looking to score, just looking to not hurt bad for 2 weeks. It's terrifying

You can't get pain meds in the USA after full mouth extraction?

I know we are trying to stop the drug crisis here in America and thanks to that I am only being offered the Advil + Tylenol which has me greatly concerned. I'm getting all my teeth extracted in one go

I don't react much to these OTC medicines even in higher doses and it's usually a waste of time to take them for anything

They tried to give me the same thing when I had to abort an extraction last year because no amount of 'caines got me numb and I only found that out when he snapped the tooth in half and I was shaking in pain. So they sent me home with Tylenol and Advil. I tried Tylenol and Advil combo to no avail but ended up taking some old Percocet we had laying around. That literally (and just barely) saved my sanity. I have no idea how they expected Tylenol to help that amount of pain. However that is now gone, I'm out of Percocets since I only had 2-3 to use back then

How bad is the pain after full mouth extraction?

I feel like this is so absurd and now I'm more scared than I was before

I did double check and reiterate some of this to them and they said they can't write scripts for it anymore but I could "try asking my regular primary care doctor"

Most of the posts on Reddit here that only were given these OTC meds said they supplemented with old stronger pain meds but it sucks when you don't have any of those laying around anymore

It's a sad state of affairs when you have to rely on ancient meds from past surgeries to get by. That seems like the recommended option around here! And I don't blame ya

Can you find "Take A Message" voicemails anywhere except call history?

This feature was enabled for me without my knowledge like many others, and I was curious as to why I stopped getting voicemails and now whatever I would've missed is way back in the call history logs. Is there any like actual mailbox for these things? Having to scroll through call history to see if anybody left you a message is wild

I do like the feature better than my carrier's visual voicemail app (which forces you to use the app and the menu in the phone app has a placeholder telling you to use the app) but it's a bit pointless without a mailbox. I'm hoping I'm just missing something and this isn't just how the feature works

I disabled the feature for now and went back to old voicemail (which I wasn't informed I was switching from...)

BP 145/86 laying down, 162/110 standing. Heart rate 75 -> 95

I'm having issues and I'm visiting a doctor ASAP. Not trying to get internet diagnosed, just curious if anybody knows what I should look into specifically with the doctor

I was trying to do a rudimentary test for POTS/hyperPOTS that involved laying down and standing up and seeing if your heart rate wildly changes. Mine seems within the normal spec. (75 laying, 95 standing)

However I did notice my blood pressure greatly changed just from getting out of bed. I did wait 1.5-2 minutes to run the test after standing up and stayed very relaxed and quiet. I did nothing inbetween except stand up right next to the bed

I was just curious if this means anything. Obviously I have high blood pressure in general which I hope to be treated for very shortly now that it has shown up across my last few doctor visits and is beyond being a coincidence. But I am curious if the laying/standing change is normal

Large difference when laying down to standing?

I've read an increase of heart rate about 10-20 bpm is normal as it serves a purpose.

But also read that blood pressure shouldn't change much.

Laying measurement was taken after 30-60 minutes of laying in bed resting, standing measurement was taken after 1-2 minutes of standing calmly after simply getting out of bed to do the test. I stood still for 1-2 minutes on purpose before testing

I'm slightly overweight but nothing crazy. I've always felt like I had a weak heart and my symptoms are getting worse so I'm going to see a doctor ASAP.

My estranged father was on medication for high blood pressure and was recently diagnosed as diabetic (but he is very very heavy)

Is everybody afraid to get hurt/do stunts besides Ehren and Dave England? Last two movies

I've noticed this pattern for quite some time (last 2 movies) where nobody will do anything remotely crazy or even close, but it still seems like Ehren and Dave England are the only ones of the original crew (and even compared to many of the new guys) still doing any stunts and as such they end up doing a lot

Even in the last movie (4) and now this one ("Best And Last") it seemed like Ehren and Dave did most of the stunts

Johnny did the bull stunt in this movie which surprised me as I thought he was never going to do a stunt again

And the girl Rachel did absolutely nothing for the entire movie except react in the background which was weird

But props to Ehren and Dave as I think they carried the last two movies all by themselves. And you can't blame age as they are part of the OG crew

1-2 second feeling like I'm going to pass out, IBS vagus nerve stuff, anybody deal with this?

I don't have a diagnosis yet but am making an appointment

I've had severe IBS for my entire life and nobody seems to understand how bad it is because it is so much more than just stomach pain and basically involves my body freaking out. I get freezing cold (to the touch, not just in my head), high heart rate, flushed, feeling unwell, and so on. Often times this is much worse than the pain itself. I've had these symptoms for 25 years

About a year ago I started learning about the vagus nerve and vasovagal response and it seemed to check all the boxes of what is secondary to my intestinal pain and have been trying to investigate that

Anyways this week I started having these episodes where I feel like I am going to faint for like 1-2 seconds and then I "catch" myself mentally. It feels like the drop on a rollercoaster or something, or like when you are half asleep and you feel like you are falling (except I am wide awake doing daily activities) and then a rush of panic like my body is trying to tell me something is wrong, and then it is fine. I feel like it is a loss of control for a moment and it freaks me out. It's often during low stress situations where I'm just watching a movie or something

This is a new symptom which is weird because all of my health issues have been terrible but have been relatively the same symptoms for years and years so it concerns me that something new has popped up out of the blue, as I've been suffering for many years but it is relatively uniform in terms of symptoms

If this new symptom popping up ends up being the key to what I've been dealing with for decades I will sob happy tears

Just curious if I am looking in the right direction, and what sort of tests I should ask for my doctor for

Just finished it on release day.

I didn't think it was worth seeing in theaters and was glad I streamed it

But I thought it was pretty good. Definitely a nice send off.

Johnny vs the bull was the best and hardest hit.

Seemed like a lot of reused clips which I knew going in. I thought the new clips were fun but obviously the bulk of the movie is old stuff. I knew that is was going to be how it was going in, and the 4th movie was a letdown, so I had low expectations.

I think Steve-o got off pretty easy on the prostate exam and the twister segment was a bit short for what I was expecting. This movie definitely weighed heavily (pun intended) on the gross factor, the recliner chair scene was gross lmao

Nothing will ever beat the first three movies. I don't think it has a lot of replay factor because you can see most the clips in the other movies. I'll miss it but it was time... Perhaps several movies ago

I just got tricked by the shop into giving me a "Nixodine" vape people invented to get around Nicotine restrictions and we are incredibly ill. Quit before this is the new normal

My wife got the ol bait and switch from where we usually get Fogers (one G) and she didn't realize until she brought it home.

Whatever I said, I've had a knock off before, let's just use it.

Started feeling incredibly ill and she did as well (we were sharing it trying it out) and realized something wasn't right, started immediately feeling bad, and looked at the box to make sure I didn't get some jank THC vape or something and realized it contained NIXODINE not NICOTINE and read up on it

It's a new chemical they came up with to get around the nicotine ban. Which is now harming me more than the nicotine they are trying to save me from

We are feeling nauseous and best described like I greened out (overuse) of weed. My heart is pounding and I feel dizzy. I wouldn't be able to drive right now

I feel incredibly terrible that I just inhaled some new untested random chemical. Hoping it'll pass and if it doesn't I'm bringing us to the emergency room

I've always felt bad about ingesting God knows what but this solidifies it and I'm gonna quit

Low Baller achievement/trophy probably not possible in new playlist

The achievement/trophy has been bugged for years.

You need to score 1-0 in the first round of a game, and then lose the second round on purpose

However, the other caveat is that final rounds apparently do not count. So this playlist has no game modes that will work as all the applicable game modes are in finals

So frustrating

Blu-Ray is still better than streaming (more than just for being physical media)

In this world of streaming, many don't realize Blu-Ray still offers superior quality and bitrate in both video and audio. There are a lot of times even standard 1080p Blu-Ray discs have more quality and bitrate than a supposed 4K stream as streaming services are trying to be as cheap as possible. You'd think you'd need a 4K disc to beat subscription 4K streaming but that is often not even the case if you actually dig into it scientifically, and more importantly, it's not hard to see the difference with your own eyes. (I've never been a huge fan of audiophile debates where everything sounds the same to me, I like to see the difference)

I started collecting these for fun as part of my theater experience, mixed with the same bit of sadness that came with VHS and DVD that pulling a case off the shelf is no longer "optimal" and not doing me any favors besides nostalgic enjoyment, and I felt a bit silly spending the money. I still enjoy adding to my DVD collection (and upscaled DVD isn't actually as bad as it sounds), but it always felt a bit dumb.

Well, turns out that was wrong about Blu-Ray (particularly 4K, but even in 1080p in some cases). It's the one last holdout besides CD of something physical in this world actually being better (and not just by taste/opinion) than a digital equivalent.

As stated, even the standard 1080p discs are often better than 4K streaming services to begin with by the time it hits your TV (thanks to lousy cost-cutting practices of streaming services), and then paired with the fact you can upscale those to 4K while you watch with the right player, it's a great experience.

I enjoy collecting physical things and never thought I'd find something again where it actually came out ahead.

Even the "download it from somewhere shady" method usually comes with high compression in both video and audio, unless you want an 100GB file every time you want to "acquire" a movie.

Even if you're buying discs to rip them to your drives (nothing wrong with that if done losslessly), nothing beats the format the world is trying to forget. I'm hoping more people get in on it so we can get continued releases.

The way the world works, streaming is pitched as the next step in better technology, but most don't realize it's just the convenience that made it popular, and the quality is actually worse.

I don't care if you do it or not, but buying discs that actually make sense to purchase really added something to my theater experience. I thought it was just going to be a niche collector thing and I would be the movie equivalent of those guys that will die believing vinyl is better than CD, but it actually works out on paper.

I have some friends also into the home theater thing that were convinced as I was that streaming was better across all fronts, now also proudly including a physical player in their setup.

It's nice when something is not just "fun" but also better.

Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

Blu-Ray (and CD!) is still factually better than streaming in 2026, and for more than just ownership

There's a lot of people offloading their Blu-Ray collections because "physical media is old news", not realizing that they're getting less quality through their modern streaming service.

It makes me very happy that this format is not just a choice to keep physical media, but is still scientifically the better option as well.

The bitrates of both video and audio are often even better on a standard 1080p Blu-Ray than a supposed 4K stream to boot and it shows. You'd think you'd need a 4K disc to beat a 4K stream, but the quality is often so bad you only need a 1080p disc to come out ahead. Most 4K players also will upscale the 1080p discs which furthers this effect, but even without that it still usually comes out ahead.

I've always felt like collecting certain mediums was more of a nostalgic choice and due to wanting to physically own things. I could never justify owning something like a cassette tape other than "because I enjoy it" (I still buy them anyways because it's fun)

But many people don't seem to realize Blu-Ray and CD are still the winners even in this streaming age. Not just "vinyl vs. CD subjective opinion" better, but literally factually better on paper, and most importantly, you can actually visually see the difference.

Even those that like to be pirates are downloading compressed rips of movies. I'm glad this medium still makes sense to buy even beyond just the physical media movement

It makes me happy these are still the best in 2026

I always found faults in collecting vinyl, cassette tapes, DVD, VHS, etc., because it was more of a nostalgic choice that wouldn't make sense on paper to anybody but a collector. I still do it anyways because I enjoy it (and DVDs with modern upscaling look way better than they should), but it doesn't always make the most sense

But I have been delightfully surprised at how much better Blu-Rays and 4K Blu-Rays still look than streaming. Even 1080p standard Blu-Rays beat 4K streaming a lot of the time

It's nice to finally find something that isn't just "to be a collector" but actually makes sense to buy and own. It seems to give it an extra purpose that makes it feel a bit more sensible to spend the money. I'm a big fan of the 'physical media is ownership' movement especially in this day in age, which with any other format often comes with drawbacks, but the fact that the best quality is on these discs too really makes it feel worthwhile rather than just grasping at straws for the past like I did when I was collecting other mediums

Even the "just download it!" crowd is downloading compressed rips of movies

(CDs too. They're still literally the best all these years later. Lossless streaming is a thing but that will always tie CD at best but I still think there's too much room for error)

So glad to have finally found a collecting niche that doesn't come with drawbacks and is infact the better option

This Dreamworks animator died in 2001 and his "In Memoriam" is in Shrek 2's credits in 2004 but he's listed under most Dreamworks releases for the next 13 years

I randomly googled an in memoriam credit from Shrek 2 and it led me here

I checked to see if he is in any of the official credits as like a homage or because they are using his previous work or something, but he's not in any of the official credits for these movies in any way

I saw this phenomenon flow to other sites which I assume used IMDB for a reference or vice versa

I see a lot of this incorrect information on IMDB. How does this happen, is it just users submitting incorrect info?

Are these pelvic floor issues symptoms. What do they feel like?

Male, age 28

I continue on my lifelong IBS journey and thinking this will be my avenue to ask to test for next. I heard anorectal manometry is a good test to ask for, I just hope it is not too unpleasant.

I have this habit of being constipated for a week and then having 2 days or so of my system emptying and diarrhea hell.

I'm starting to wonder if this is my body's natural response to becoming too full rather than an issue itself. I've eliminated many things during recent colonoscopy/endoscopy/biopsies.

However I felt really great during the 2-3 day Miralax prep (I respond badly to things like Dulcolax which cause spasms) and it was terrific being so empty. Once I got the backlog cleared out I felt good consistently so I figure being more regular is likely the answer

Anyways, I've noticed I have issues pushing out solid stool unless my body is really fighting to push it out

Some of my symptoms:

A) I don't seem to be able to push from lower areas. I can clench my butt a little bit (feels empty), and I primarily push from what feels like clenching my mid-section (above my belly button) but the section between that feels like a complete dead zone to where I can't even feel any muscles. I can't remember if that was always the case. I've read about doctors diagnosing people with "forgetting how to poop" and I may fall in that category

B) I haven't had much sensation during sex for a long time, issues staying erect, can't feel my penis much at all. I can last pretty much infinitely without much effort (I don't edge but I used to and I know that can cause this) and have to put a lot of thought into orgasming. I've also read people tighten their pelvic muscles to orgasm as a habit and I think I also do that. I tend to push my lower section upwards and tight

C) I remember when I was very young I used to have a crazy strong urine stream, now it is fairly weak even if I really have to go, no matter how hard I push. It's been like that for quite a while

D) It seems to take me multiple visits to the toilet to get everything out even when I'm going through a diarrhea flare up. Sometimes this just involves standing up for less than 5 minutes. The body movement helps. I can sit there for an extra hour or whatever and nothing wil extra l happen until I do this process

E) I can feel the presence of poop ready lower down after a few days, but it is not the urge to go to the bathroom, is not super annoying or anything, it's just there. And I can't force it. It usually takes another 2 days from that point until my body does its things. I don't feel it in my butt, it's more like at my waist line, so there's nothing in my region of pushing (butt/anus area)

F) I consistently have internal hemerrhoids show up on tests despite the fact I gave up on hard pushing years ago because it doesn't work and I get migraines from straining. Even in desperate times I don't bother straining and just try again later. They have shown up on colonoscopies 10 years apart

Thanks for any insight

I had to leave my job due to medical issues which caused me to lose my food stamps. I'm now more broke and more hungry than I was when I qualified

Can somebody explain the work requirement thing? Is this a new policy or has it always been this way? Pennsylvania SNAP/EBT

I had a renewal and since I had to leave my job for medical reasons I apparently do not meet the work requirement anymore and my EBT was cut off completely

It just seems terrible because I am in further need of this type of support than I already did when I was working

I just don't understand how they see working and getting an income through other means as a good reason to give benefits (I theoretically could buy food with my paycheck) but then when you are unemployed and have no means to get food anymore at all, it is denied. It seems totally backwards because now it is a necessity rather than just a giant helping hand

Is there any way I can provide details about the disability to get these again?

Or do I have to get actual SSDI/disability (takes years and is difficult)
