Morning ride hits different

Clocked around 28km today morning, stopped to have a good breakfast, and got back before the traffic started piling up. Solid 40 min run❤️.

Motolog is approved on Google Play — need 12 volunteers for 14 days to qualify for public release. First 25 get Pro access free during testing

Hey everyone 👋

Big news — Motolog is officially approved on Google Play Store. 🎉

But there's one final step before I can release it publicly.

Google requires a minimum of 12 users to test the app for 14 days on the closed testing track. This is a mandatory requirement for individual developer accounts before going live on Play Store.

I need volunteers for the next 15-20 days.

Important — this is invitation only.

Closed testing on Play Store is not publicly available. You can only join if I send you a personal invite link after you sign up.

Here's the deal:

What you do:

  • Fill the form below — takes 1 minute

  • I'll review and send your Play Store closed testing invite personally - Install Motolog from the Play Store invite link

  • Ride normally for 14 days — that's it

What you get:

  • Full Pro access — completely free — for the entire closed testing period
  • Early access to Play Store version before public launch
  • You're literally helping get Motolog live on Play Store

What's in Pro:

  • All ride history
  • Chronos Journey — all your rides animated on one map
  • Speed heatmaps of every route
  • Group Ride — live location + voice intercom
  • Advanced Pod Settings — 7 Tripper Pod display controls RE's official app doesn't have

⚠️ Limited to first 25 volunteers only — first come first served.

Once 25 spots are filled the form will close automatically.

Sign up here 👇

This is the last step before Motolog goes live publicly on Play Store. Every volunteer directly makes this happen.

Thank you genuinely — building this solo. Your support means everything 🙏

Frustration with Individual account in Playconsole

Got Google Play Console verification today for publishing the app, only to find out that as an individual account, I need 12 test users for 14 days to qualify and apply for production release.

Fuck me.

Motolog update — building auto ride detection for non-Tripper Pod riders + honest pricing question

Hey everyone 👋

Thank you everyone for such positive response on public beta release. I received all the feedback and actively working on it by addressing all the issues, bugs and possible improvements and today I have two things to share :

1. Auto Ride Detection ( In Development)

The most common question I get from beta users:

"I don't have a Tripper Pod — can I still use Motolog?"

So I'm building it. Auto ride detection using Android's activity recognition API, automatically detects when you start riding and begins recording your trip. No Tripper Pod needed.

Works for:

→ Royal Enfield riders without Tripper Pod

→ Any other motorcycle rider

→ Cyclists

Still in development — not released yet ( if you have already got the app from firebase distribution no need to update).

Quick note on accuracy — Tripper Pod users will always get the most accurate experience since trip start and stop is perfectly synced with your bike. Auto detection is good but depends on Android's activity API.

Quick question: If you don't have a Tripper Pod — would you use Motolog for automatic ride tracking? Drop a yes or no below.

2. Honest Pricing Question

Motolog is completely free right now. I want to keep as much free as possible but I want to be transparent about what it actually costs me:

→ Server for Group Ride (voice intercom + live location) — ₹2,000–3,000/month

→ Google Play Developer account — $25 one time

→ Mapbox (maps) — free tier now, but becomes a significant monthly cost as users grow

→ iOS release planned — Apple charges $99/year

I'm a solo developer building this in my spare time alongside freelance work. Before I decide anything about pricing, I want honest opinions from actual riders.

Five quick questions, answer any or all:

1. Would you pay for a ride companion app at all?

2. What features would you always expect to be free?

3. What features feel worth paying for?

4. Which pricing model do you prefer?

→ One time payment (pay once, use forever)

→ Monthly subscription

→ Free with ads

→ Completely free, find another way

If you had to pay — what's a fair price in your opinion?

No wrong answers. Even "I wouldn't pay anything" is genuinely useful feedback.

Every single response directly shapes how I build and price Motolog going forward 🙏

Anyone wants to join beta, it's still open in https://motolog.satrujit.in

It's live — the Royal Enfield Tripper companion app I've been building is now in open beta (free, Android)

For those who've been following along — it's finally ready to use.

I've been sharing progress on Motolog for a while now — the unofficial companion app that bridges your Android phone to the Royal Enfield Tripper Pod over Bluetooth. Months of reverse-engineering BLE protocols, debugging background reconnection, building group ride features, and squashing crashes later — the open beta is live.

Here's what's in this build:

  1. Tripper Pod BLE Navigation — Turn-by-turn directions pushed directly to your dashboard display. Runs in the background while you navigate with any maps app. Auto-reconnects when you start your bike.

  2. Trip Recording & Analytics — Every ride is automatically logged on your phone. Routes, speed heatmaps (auto-excludes stops under 15 km/h), elevation, riding smoothness. No cloud required — all stored locally in SQLite.

  3. Group Rides with Live Location — Create or join a ride group and see everyone on a shared map in real time. Uses a lightweight 24-byte binary protocol over UDP — barely touches your battery or data.

  4. Push-to-Talk Voice Intercom — Talk to your group while riding. WebRTC-powered, Opus codec, works over mobile data. Wind noise filtering built in.

  5. SOS Alerts — One tap broadcasts a high-priority alert with your live GPS location to everyone in the group instantly.

  6. Optional Google Drive Backup — Your trip data stays on your phone by default. Drive sync is opt-in and stores everything in your own Google account.

---

No Play Store yet — you access it through Firebase App Distribution. Just sign in with Google at the link below and you're in. No waitlist, no form, instant access.

Still beta — there will be bugs. If you hit something, GitHub issues are open and I respond to everything. Would love feedback from anyone riding a Royal Enfield, especially in different conditions.

Thanks to everyone who commented, suggested features, and kept me going through the tough builds. This one's for you.

Built a Live Group Ride feature for my RE app — real-time location + voice intercom, open to ALL riders. No Tripper Pod needed.

Hey people 👋

Been building Motolog — a ride companion app that started for Royal Enfield Tripper Pod users. Been sharing updates here as I go.

Today's update is the biggest one yet — and this one is for everyone, not just Tripper Pod users.

Live Group Ride Mode:

→ Real-time location sharing — all riders visible on one map simultaneously

→ Built-in voice intercom — talk while riding, no Cardo or Sena needed

→ "Speaking now" indicator — see who's talking in real time

→ Distance tracking between riders

→ Emergency SOS — hold 3 seconds

→ Location sharing toggle — your privacy, your control

→ Join via QR code scan — one scan and you're in the group instantly

Important — this feature is NOT restricted to Tripper Pod users. Any rider, any bike, can join a group ride session by simply scanning a QR code. No hardware needed beyond your phone.

The screenshot shows a real live test — me and my friend Saswat, 7.5 km apart in Bhubaneswar, both connected simultaneously with voice working live.

Currently in internal testing — not public yet. Want early access when it drops?

Build a app to connect to tripper pod and share navigation info off screen with auto reconnect

Hey People.

I got a royal enfield hunter 350 few months back. I faced so many issues with royal enfield app while using it with tripper pod that came with it.

So I thought as a developer I can build something. So I build it. Once paired it connect to tripper pod on ignition automatically. I also build few more features like ride tracking, speed tracking overtime.

Ignitation left reminder to prevent battery discharge and many more.

I have been using it with my bike for over a month. It's working great till now.

And yes it's fully local , nothing is synced to server, all data stays at local. I added a Google drive sync system there which supports multi device sync but it's completely optional.

It's free. No account setup required just download, install and use it.

It's a passion project of mine. Not affiliated with Royal Enfield anyway. Use it at your own risk.

Currently app is under a private repo. So I uploaded the apk to a public repo release

Apk: https://github.com/satrujit11/Motolog-Public/releases/download/1.0.0/app-release.apk

App website for waitlist : https://motolog.satrujit.in

So if you got a tripper pod, please try it and give me feedback, what's working, what's broken, and what more features do you need.
