UB901 Selvedge Jacket Fit Check

I took a swing on this brand new Unbranded Brand UB901 I found on Depop for a really good price. Much cheaper than retail.

It is a little tight on the armpits and shoulders but nothing that would keep me from wearing it. With this being my first selvedge jacket, should I expect some stretch like raw denim jeans?

I’ve been losing weight and I am about 20 pounds from my goal so I’m expecting that to help.

With all that being said, how’s the fit? I really like it and I am looking forward to cooler weather. This will be a daily driver.

What would you choose….

If you could make a 12-15 song track list featuring songs that do not have a studio recording, what would it look like?

I’m talking official releases, no Lillywhite or Batson sessions. Not EPs or singles or anything like that. I also don’t really want to count “Remember Two Things” either.

Just straight up tracks not featured on major studio releases. Not even studio albums featuring a live version like Beach Ball.

You get it.

Here is mine. I don’t know what order, this is just the songs I would choose.

Blue Water
Good Good Time
Loving Wings
JTR
Kill The King
Crazy Easy
Minarets
Shotgun
Sweet Up and Down
Bismark
Sugar Will
#27
Beach Ball
Cha Cha
Break For It

Hood 1967 Rocket Oxford

I just wanted to share a recent pick up. These are the Mitchell & Ness relaunch of the Hood Rubber Company. Original brand was founded in 1896 and these are a repro of their mid 1960’s model. Originally a high top basketball shoe.

These are the vintage natural color (Cream).

I found these BRAND NEW on Poshmark for 20 bucks so I had to grab them.

Pretty familiar feeling to over canvas shoes like vans or chucks but I think the toe box feels slightly wider and the sole feels a little more comfortable to me.

Pretty TTS, maybe a slight touch bigger but they feel good. I don’t know how long these will last but I like the aesthetic.

Take care!

Wider Leg Selvedge Options?

UPDATE: I ended up grabbing the Time Catcher 1955’s. I appreciate everyone’s suggestions. I just wanted to get something on the cheaper side to see how much I like a wider fit than I’m use to. I’ll post a picture once they arrive!

I’m currently looking for a bit wider leg than my current Brave Star True Straight’s to add more versatility to my closet.

I’m not trying to spend too much so I was looking at the Time Catcher 1955’s and the Red Tornado 55501’s.

They seem pretty similar. I have several shirts from Time Catcher and I have been impressed with their quality. I had a pair of Red Tornados a few years ago too, and again, surprised by their quality.

Anyone have any input on these two pairs of jeans as far as sizing or anything really? Photos are a plus!

If you have any other suggestions, I’m open to them as well. Thanks!

Budget Aloha Shirts

This summer was the summer of Aloha shirts for me. I really love the materials, the outfit combinations, as well as the fact they work well when it’s hotter than the gates of hell in the southeast.

You can find unbelievably good values on Poshmark and Depop from brands like Reyn Spooner (this one), Jamaica Jaxx, and Tori Richard just up name a few.

Most of the time ftom $10-$20!

Just wanted to throw it out there in case in anyone was on the lookout.

Peace ✌️

Keeping it simple

Found this vintage LL Bean shirt recently at a thrift shop. I really like the fit and it feels quite nice on this hot day.

Frugal Fit Check

Nothing crazy going on here but I liked this fit.

Everything but the pants were second hand. Though I would still consider them frugal (compared to the big brands) at about $130 if I remember correctly.

Brave Star 21.5oz Dark Gauntlet

Fit check for my first pair of heavyweight denim. 15oz was my heaviest prior to these. I initially bought these a size too small and had to size up.

I’m really happy with these and looking forward to the journey.

I think they pair nice with this pair of Red Wing 9111’s I got on Grailed for 50 bucks! Absolute steal.

Anyone else rock Brave Star 21.5 ouncers? I have heard they break in fade decently quick.

Fit Check / Brave Star & Red Wing

I posted a fit check a few weeks ago for my Brave Star 21.5oz Dark Gauntlets in True Straight and everyone suggested sizing up. So I did, and I m very glad (thank you if you suggested it). They feel great and I love the fit now. The rise actually feels way better too.

So again, these are the Brave Star 21.5oz Gauntlets. My fair pair of 15+ oz denim. I can’t wait to start the journey on these.

Also paired them with a pair of Red Wing 9111’s in Copper Rough & Tough that I got for 50 bucks on Grailed. They will need resoled in the next year or sooner. These were pretty well taken care of. Would anyone suggest adding mink oil or anything? I like the color now but want to make sure they are taken care of as well.

Landed some 9111’s

Got these 9111 Copper Rough & Tough’s for an absolute steal on Grailed. They will need resoled in the next 6 months or so but I’m thrilled about these!

Would these look better with different color laces or do you like the OG color?

Anyone else rock the 9111’s?

Finding Vintage Pieces

I’ve found a few good pieces online through Poshmark, Depop, and Grailed, but it seems like a lot of sellers use the word “vintage” loosely just to help an item sell faster. It can be difficult to tell what is actually vintage versus something that is just an older-looking style.

I’ve been researching how to identify real vintage pieces, mostly by looking at tags, manufacturing details, and things like “Made in USA” labels. I’ve mainly been searching for brands like Polo Ralph Lauren, Pendleton, Woolrich, Levi’s, and Wrangler.

I also check thrift stores occasionally, but I haven’t had much luck finding anything worthwhile.

For those who collect or wear true vintage, what are your best tips for finding pieces? Are there certain search terms, brands, stores, or strategies that have worked well for you? I’m mostly interested in secondhand pieces and finding good deals rather than paying premium prices from vintage resellers.

Any advice would be appreciatedy!

Help identifying this Wrangler Jacket

I recently bought this Wrangler Jacket second hand for only 20 bucks. I don’t expect it to be anything super rare or anything and it is definitely not selvedge. I just wanted to know if anyone knew how old it might be or could shed any light on it.

He only thing I can make out is it looks like MOJ30V1 or MOJ30VI.

I like the fit quite a bit and really look forward to wearing it this fall and winter.

Thanks!

Someone dig up the info

Is there a way for someone in the ants community to see what shows have the most similar setlists?

I don’t think they have ever repeated but I don’t know that with certainty. I just thought it would be interesting to see what might be considered the most similar shows that have happened.

Maybe someone can figure it out?

First Pair of Heavyweight Denim

Just received my first pair of heavyweight denim today. These are the Brave Star 21.5oz Dark Gauntlet. Prior to these my heaviest weight was 14.75oz. So made a nice little jump.

I sized down from a 36 to a 35 because I am on a weight loss journey and my goal is about 15-20 more lbs. - With that in mind, do these look ok? Might be a little tight on the crotch but they buttoned pretty easily and they are actually more comfortable than I anticipated.

Ready for fall and winter. I just don’t know if I’ll be able to do these in the hot and humid Tennessee summer.

Our hometown hero (from Chattanooga TN)

One of the greatest players the NFL will ever see grew up right here in my city. Reggie White went to Howard High School in Chattanooga and played at the University of Tennessee. He’s the main reason I became a Packers fan—my dad was a huge Reggie fan, especially since he was a local kid who went to the college we all rooted for. Just thought you cheeseheads might get a kick out of that.

Unbranded 21oz UB321?

Waiting for a restock of the UB321 which will be my first heavyweight denim.

Hoping get them before the fall so I can wear them all through fall and winter.

Anyone else have these and recommend them? I don’t really want drop a fortune on heavyweights since I don’t have experience with them. UB seems like the route to go. I had a pair of UB201 and loved them. I thought the quality for price was almost unmatched.

The heaviest weight I have currently is 14.75oz from Brave Star but I’m looking forward to some real heavyweights.

Warm Weather Fit

I live in the southeastern US and the humidity is something that really kills me in the summer. But this is tolerable for me. The temps aren’t that bad right now so I might change my mind when the temps jump. Probably more suitable for Frugal Heritage sub but oh well!

Leather belt question

I wasn’t sure where to post this so feel free to point me in the right direction if this is the wrong place.

I got this veg tan belt a few months ago. I wear daily including work. I can sweat a lot on my back and my belt has taken on the sweat in result of said sweating. Is this common? Is there anything I can do to fix it? I have conditioned it a few times but still very noticeable. It looks cracked but there no actual cracking of the leather yet.

Any help would be appreciated!
