First time I’ve seen Piper using these climbing rings! I’ve got other ones but she’s never really messed with these. I think it’s cute when they get out and climb and explore 🩷

Might be biased but I think she’s absolutely stunning!

This girl is the queen of my 10 gallon betta tank. Happy to see her thriving! I don’t plan on saving any of the babies or setting up brackish water for them, but I’m glad she’s doing well!

Hi all! New here and new to gouramis but I’m an experienced fish keeper.

I have a heavily planted 20 gallon tank with CPDs, Pygmy cories, shrimp, and snails. I had a single honey gourami in there, but it was so peaceful (hid a lot, left my CPDs and shrimp alone, a bit timid) I decided to maybe try another.

The problem is the store only had suspected males (they’re young and pale from shipping so it’s hard to be certain). I got one bc I was pretty convinced mine was a female. However as soon as I added the new one, I realized mine is actually most likely male.

Is this a doomed setup or can they get along? I know honeys are more calm, but I know they’re still territorial. FWIW, when I added the new one, mine swam up to it and touched it a bit with its little feelers but didn’t attack or bite or chase it. Just touched it a bit and flared before swimming off and leaving him alone. I plan to keep a close eye either way bc I’m used to bettas and know things can change fast, but I’d like to try and make it work if it’s possible. Any advice? Pls be honest, I just want my fish to be happy and confident.

Piper was deep in her warm hide, I hadn’t even gotten the rat out yet but she came and poked her little head out, ready for dinner 😂 like “hey ma, where’s my food?” 😭😂

I posted a month or so ago about my juvenile ball python climbing on her UVB lamp. At the advice of others, I built a cage for it. Tonight I found her like this.

Is this a problem/should I be worried? If yes, ideas on how to fix it? The cage is built from hardwire cloth and secured with zip ties. The edges of the hardwire cloth have been snipped and sanded so it’s definitely not sharp. It’s pretty sturdy, and while it’s hard to see here, it’s zip tied closed on the top so she can’t wiggle through. The Arcadia lamp guards don’t work with my enclosure so this is what I had.

Her temps and humidity are normal (88°F/65% warm side, 78°F, 78% cool side). She has PLENTY of other climbing things (five branches and two sets of climbing hoops. She does use those too), but being on the UVB seems to be her favorite spot. She freaking loves being at the top.

I’m not gonna put much explanation for these 😂

Favorite character: Longtail. He was robbed. That is all.

Favorite villain: Sol. There’s something mystical and evil about him in an intriguing way. I wish we’d had more time with him (I still need to read A Stranger in SkyClan)
Overrated character: Ivypool. Look, I like her, but in earlier arcs I found her insufferable.
Underrated character: Feathertail my beloved. Should’ve been Featherstar.
Best side character: Sorreltail
Best story: Starlight
Favorite ship: Brackenfur and his buff wife Sorreltail
You like, everyone hates: I see a lot of Graystripe slander nowadays. I like him.

Saddest death: Dappletail is a one off, hardly mentioned death where, driven by starvation, she eats a rabbit that is noted as probably being poisoned and then died. HM: the elders that couldn’t make the Great Journey. (I know there’s sadder ones in terms of MCs, but I think about Dappletail a lot).
Favorite medicine cat: Mudfur

Favorite leader: Tallstar (toss up between him and Crookedstar)

It’s a great Friday when I get to see an AWESOME native species! He was laying in the road and I thought he was a hose until he started moving! Tried to get a better look but he slithered off and I didn’t want to chase him down lol.

I’ve seen lots of DeKay’s and garters this spring, so this guy was a real treat!

Bruh I found this dead bug in my newly cycled 20 gallon that I JUST added fish to. It was definitely dead and also solid, so not a molt. All my plants were either propagated from my personal tanks, bought from a reputable LFS, or ordered from one Etsy shop and bleach dipped.

If it is a dragonfly nymph (I’m horrified), could there be more? What do I look for? It currently has a honey gourami and 10 cherry shrimp, but I’m also adding CPDs and Pygmy cories at the end of the week, and the CPDs are TOO EXPENSIVE to waste on a dragonfly nymph.

I’m hoping it’s a lost spider but I have no idea 😔

Someone… and I’m not naming names… seems like they are trying to be a green tree python 🤪

All jokes aside, Piper LOVES this branch. She spends more time here than anywhere else in her tank. Must have the perfect temperature!

20 gallon planted tank, fishless cycle, dosing Fritz Fishless fuel. I’m on day 24.

I was at nearly 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, and high nitrate. Did a partial water change, re dosed 2 ppm. Got through it in 2 days, water change, dose again. I still can’t clear 2 ppm in 24 hrs. I was at 1 ppm last night. Dosed 1 more ppm, and here’s where I’m at tonight. Am I doing something wrong?

Day 18 cycling my freshwater tank. Fishless cycle, dosing Fritz ammonia. I did a 50% water change Sunday bc my nitrates were way over 100 and nitrites were high. Dosed ammonia to 2 ppm again yesterday. What are we thinking? I’m still seeing .25 ammonia today and trace nitrites. Maybe a few more days?

Going to do a small change today to bring down nitrates and dose ammonia again.
