Speech in Noise for Classroom work...Wow!!!

This morning at work in the classroom, tried Speech in Noise with custom adjustments..turned up soft sounds all the way and put speech focus as wide as possible. Noise reduction on medium. Wow..I don't care if this is artificial and processed. I can actually hear everyone, even the soft spoken students!!!

Should I embrace myself as hard of hearing?

I had some hearing loss in one ear all my life but I did not consider myself hard of hearing. I even tried a hearing aid on and off for about 19 years but still didn’t really take to it.
Then 2 years ago I started to get a bit of loss in my other ear, just very mild. Also, my ear with the existing hearing loss got a bit more loss too.
I got 2 hearing aids on Tuesday and I love them. I really enjoy using them and they help me a lot on the job and anywhere else.

Should I wear them all the time from now on and fully embrace being hard of hearing? Or is this going overboard?

Is it not really a big deal to anyone else?

To me, getting hearing aids is life changing and so important to me. I got a pair on Tuesday of the kind that have the thin clear wires. They help me a lot. But to everyone else, is it just not a big deal? Like, no one cares?

I got hearing aids recently

I had severe high frequency loss in one side all my life. Now I have some mild loss in my other ear too. Not being able to hear well can give a lot of anxiety and isolation. I feel I have missed out on a lot, socially. That includes but is not limited to work stuff.
The good news is that I can finally hear really well with these hearing aids I have now. I sometimes get self conscious wearing them, but I am working through that too. The wires are really thin but not invisible. But, who cares, really.. I need to hear and they are part of me now.
I would like to be more organized, friendly, kind, a better mother, wife, friend, etc… I have a long way to go. I think that as I get more comfortable with myself, I will be a better person for others too. Does this make sense?

How will my parents (ages 77 and 79) react to me (age 53) getting hearing aids?

My parents are almost 78 and 80. They are very healthy, fit people. They each have had some issues but they are overall both healthy and active. I am 53 and also healthy and active, although I'm a bit overweight.

I also had some hearing loss in one ear since I was at least 5, but nothing was done for it and it didn't seem to affect me much if at all growing up. I did have speech therapy for a lisp in 3rd grade but that was it.

Gradually, I have been having a bit more hearing loss and it went to my good ear. I finally got a pair of hearing aids that feel comfortable and work really well. They are so helpful to me, especially at work, but I wear them everywhere, from morning til I go to sleep. They are really balancing and comfortable.

My question is, how can I tell my parents about this? How can I show them I have thin, clear hearing aid wires? They don't need hearing aids, but their daughter does?! Will they judge me, feel sad, disappointed, or not make a big deal about it?

I'm asking here because they are over 60, and maybe someone here could imagine their perspective?

Day 1 after 1st microneedling

I had microneedling done for the first time and I was very red. I woke up the next day mostly back to normal. That night, the awful texture on my temples looks smoother, but a lot of my fine lines are still there. Will they continue to improve over the next few weeks, and would they improve more with another treatment?

New hearing aids, slightly more loss?

Has anyone found that once you have good, well fit and powerful adjustable hearing aids, that you lose a bit more hearing because your body realizes that it doesn’t have to hold on so tight anymore?

Parents’ Reaction?

I am 53 and will pick up my first pair of RICs on Tuesday. I had hearing loss in one ear all my life and used an aid on and off for about 20 years, with long periods of not using it. In the last couple of years I started to get some loss in my better ear, which has led me to want the pair of RICs.
My parents are both almost 80 and do not need hearing aids. My sister also has normal hearing.
I plan to tell them this weekend that I will be trying 2 hearing aids. I am wondering if they will think I am overreacting since I don’t have problems hearing them when we get together at their house. I am also wondering if they will feel sorry for me. Any advice?

Hearing aids from 40 years ago, before the digital age, did not help a lot of people. They were always the same color, medical beige. For many people, they did not work and had many limitations.

Now, the hearing aids of today come in many styles and colors, and they can help a lot more people than before. They work so well because of AI and digital technology.

So, do you think hearing aids today are as accepted as glasses, or is there still a stigma about it?

I just found out that I am still in the return window for my IICs. So I am thinking of using my insurance benefit to get a pair of Infinio Ultra RIC 90. Does anyone have experience with this model?

My right aid was sent out to be repaired. I got a loaner RIC. It’s a Phonak audeo. She said it was from 5 years ago and it’s not the premium level, it’s the 70 level.

It feels like nothing. It’s so comfortable!! And the wire is so thin that it is difficult to see.

I am thinking I might want to purchase a RIC for my right side.

Then when I’m done paying for it, I’ll purchase one for the left side.

It seems ridiculous, but this is what im thinking now. I could get a Phonak Lumity.

I feel it is going in easier already compared to yesterday. Wearing my 2 aids, I was able to sing on pitch with 99% accuracy for the first time. My audiologist turned off frequency lowering in my music program in my worse ear yesterday too and this made a big difference. I have been using a pitch measuring app called SingTrue.

I am wondering if ear canals change shape over time to accommodate IIC, if they stretch a little bit over time and so they get a bit deeper and go in easier with time? I suspect this is the case based on my right aid. Just got the left one back. It sounds great, goes in deep, and sometimes looks really invisible, but it shifted after eating.
