You Don’t Have to Be Grateful for the Pain to Honor What Grew From It

I’ve been thinking about the phrase, “There is purpose in your pain.”

I don’t think that means everything painful happens for a reason, that we deserved what happened, or that suffering itself is somehow good.

Sometimes terrible things simply hurt.
But I do believe we can decide what happens after the pain.

Everybody Can’t Be the Problem—Look in the Mirror 🪞

People can hurt you, betray you, and make bad choices—and they should be accountable for what belongs to them.
But growth requires us to ask:
What belongs to me?

Everybody Can’t Be the Villain in Your Story—Sometimes You Have to Look in the Mirror

Something I’ve had to learn is that accountability and blame are not the same thing.

People can genuinely hurt us, betray us, or behave badly. Their actions belong to them.
But if I constantly make everyone else the villain, I never have to ask the uncomfortable question:

What part of this belongs to me?

A tornado changed my life in an instant—but it reminded me that the storm doesn’t get the final word. ❤️

There are so many people suffering right now.
People have lost homes to storms, fires, floods, earthquakes, and other disasters. Some are grieving people they love. Some have had their lives changed in a matter of minutes. Others are quietly carrying pain that nobody around them can see.
Tonight I felt a very specific spiritual prompting to sing “Angel” (“In the Arms of an Angel”) for them.
I’m not a professional singer. My voice isn’t the point of this.
The people are.
I wanted to offer something—however small—to anyone who is exhausted, grieving, frightened, rebuilding, or simply trying to make it through tonight.
Sometimes we can’t fix what another person is going through. We can’t restore everything they’ve lost.
But we can stop.
We can remember them.
We can hold space for their suffering.
And we can send love toward people we may never meet. 🕊️
So this song is for you.
For everyone hurting tonight:
May you find comfort in the middle of the uncertainty.
May you find strength for tomorrow.
May you feel held when life feels unbearably heavy.
And may you know that somewhere, someone is thinking about you and sending you love.
🤍🕊️

What if manifestation is less about asking—and more about becoming aligned with what you’re asking for?

A tree fell on my house during the tornado in Chicago’s south suburbs August 11th. I’m still processing how close this was.

What remains when the title, approval, status, and performance fall away?

If your authority disappears the moment someone withdraws permission, it was never fully yours.
Let the title fall.
Let the performance end.
Let the need to prove dissolve.
Keep the integrity, discernment, voice, and capacity to choose.
