New Beverly Cinema Seats?

How much will my 53 year old back hurt after watching a 2 hour movie?

I think the last time I was at the New Beverly Cinema was to watch the Anvil documentary when I was in my late 30s.

I'm asking because last week my partner (49) and I (53) wrecked our backs at the Moss Theater. And, that was about two hours.

I will pack a lumbar cushion, if I need to.

Thank you so much. 😊

Sears popcorn and candy

Did your grandma or mama work selling popcorn and/or candy at any of the SEARS locations in Los Angeles?

They were always such sweet ladies. My kid self had such a crush on them.

I remember that yummy popcorn scent, and the honey pecans.

I miss old LA. 🩷

Hope everyone has a spot in our city that soothes and settles your soul these days, even if only in memory.

Ugh, constant nagging thoughts of needing to "Pre Plan"... am I just marketing sucker?

I'm 53, born late '72. Mama passed when I was 29. Only sibling passed in 2013. Somewhere between pops passed... maybe 2010.

Never wanted my own child(ren), but absolutely loved my time as a middle school teacher.

Are we all thinking about making arrangements? Or, am I just easily sucked into marketing?

I do live close to and drive past some of the most beautiful Forrest Lawn Locations , so it's never far from my mind.

Also with the recent heart failure and sinus surgeries in the last 3 weeks, back to back I've been filling out Advance Directives, etc.

Should I just set up the final event/procedure and have that taken care of? What's everyone else doing?

I am very much leaning towards getting it done so I don't have to ponder about it. The only thing stopping me are very close friends saying I am too young to even think about it. But, death can happen anytime and at any age.

... I think I just convinced myself.

Now, how to make sure I don't get scammed? Because I'll be gone and who knows how a pre-paid package works? How do they even know if I pass away?

I might go to one of the meetings.

Anyone have experience with such a task?

Thanks all!

Sinus polyps removal surgery? Is this a thing for us?

I'm recovering from my sinus polyps removal surgery on Thursday.

I wonder if it's common for Gen Xers, or if I'm just the lucky one.

Hope you're all spending time enjoying your weekend. 🩷

How many times do you use your teabag?

I'm curious whether it's frugality, or flavor, how many times do you use your teabag?

I absolutely love the Steep Lemon Ginger tea bags, which I first discovered when I was hospitalized. It's so delicious, but sometimes too strong. By the second usage it's just perfect. I sometimes use it a third time, and the flavor is so subtle and smooth, but I fear the integrity of the bag breaking apart.

Would love to hear from others.

Did anyone else experience a great deal of acid reflux during the fires last year?

I have been cleaning out and came across two bottles of acid relief pills. I hadn't remembered them, and was briefly puzzled until I remembered that we had to order them because I was having the most crazy acid reflux last year.

By late February I didn't have any acid reflux at all.

I ate the same things, drank the same things and slept the same way.

Did anyone else experience something similar?

Especially if you had to evacuate?

We saw the fires, lost power and headed to a relatives home in Redondo Beach/Torrance area. Then it was acid reflux during naps, sleep, sitting, reclined.

I don't know the reasoning, but boy am I glad it went away.

Hope my classmates are fairing well.

Glendale has changed so much since high school.

Though moved around some, ultimately I settled in Crescenta Valley. Today I was driving back on the 2 and saw GHS when it dawned on me that it's been 35 years.

What are some things you remember?

I'll go first, a classmate lost his eye, another classmate faked her own kidnapping, but those are the only sad things. Mostly I remember all the fun activities and appreciate howush the teachers worked to make our time there special.

I don't know if messy families are as common as they seem, but I know at least in my family fidelity from the men were an issue for several generations.

What I find heartwarming is how Sharon is open to Linda, and even let's it be known that she's ultimately ok.

I appreciate that Shirley seems to be open and honest with Linda, even divulging the robbery scheme.

I love that Bob and the kiddos had their own successful adventures.

But, I have so many questions that I keep picking at, like a scab.

Did Al know about Sharon?

What was the age difference between Al and Sharon?

How old were Max and Shirley when they had their affair?

Why does Al seem so much older than Shirley?

Sharon is 65, Linda is 45, so when Linda was going to the Casino with Grampa Max she was 10 (Louise's age).

That means Sharon, Linda's half aunt was 30 at the time, and Al was about 45(-/+).

None of this matters, but I needed to purge it all.

Thank you everyone ☺️🩷

I do love that Linda and Sharon have so much in common, and I really hope we get to see half aunt Sharon again.

Around 1984/1985 I remember going with my school, Commonwealth Elementary and two things really stand out.

One distinct memory is buying one of those hot wax mold animals. You got to watch it form and then it dropped down, still warm. I believe mine was a giraffe.

The other memory from that same field trip was riding an elephant at the zoo. I don't believe all the students rode the elephant, but I remember feeling the spine of the elephant and feeling really sad and guilty about putting my 11 year old weight on its back. I'm 53 and still whenever I see, hear or think of elephants I feel a twinge of remorse and confusion about how it was that I ended up riding an elephant at the LA Zoo.

Does anyone else remember this as a kid in the 80s at the LA Zoo?
