Strike now have a requirement to upload your ID info and face scan to continue to use the service in the UK.

I use Strike to send funds for my online purchases (i.e. VPN) but don't want to start bending over for even more online ID verification.

What's everyone else using for purchasing sats for sending payments online?

Home internet is down. I flip on the tethering on my phone to connect to as I've done numerous times this year without issue.

1. Personal laptop connects fine.
2. Employer laptop connects fine.
3. Home PC connects fine.
4. Client laptop tries to connect. States it can't. Then refuses to even see the SSID being broadcast.

I work on both employer and client laptop daily. Tether when away flawlessly all the time. But today? Nope, f**k you.

I've rebooted all the things, but this flipping laptop just flat out refuses to see my hotspot.

I've been in IT for over 20 years now and days like today make me f***ing hate it all over again!

Since about three days ago, my Pixel 7a has been depleting the battery much faster than normal. 80% down to empty in about 6 hours. And the phone is always warm now.

The Battery Usage details in the Settings show this as being done by "System Apps" as this is 99% with everything else at <1%.

I first noticed this with the phone being off in the morning after charging to 80% before going to bed. And today it was off again around 5pm after charging to 80% at 11am.

How do I pin down the actual cause?

After about 10 years of building my Frankenstein’s Monster of a home lab and self-hosted services, I'd really like to strip it all back and start again fresh (I need to unpick some VLAN issues so I want to nuke-and-pave!).

But I'm suffering burnout and docker-compose/terminal fatigue, so I need something for my smoothed brain in the mean-time.

I'm planning to spin up a fresh environment on a spare Pi, set up some containers and move over all my important stuff (files, photos, etc.). Then nuke my existing setup.

I don't have the drive to mess about with compose files right now, so hit me - who's wearing the crown for drop-dead-simple docker management these days? Umbrel? ZimaOS? UnRaid?

I want to keep plasters in a box with dividers. I want to top it up as each size is consumed and needs restocked.

I can only find a few choice sizes, it the plaster "tape" that you cut to size.

Right now I'm left with boxes of awkward plasters that never get used any time I need to top up.

They might as well state "some time today" instead of pissing about with the forever-changing messages. If you miss them, it's your fault. If they don't deliver when they say they will, you can't complain because the disclaimer states "nothing is guaranteed".

We have a basin mixer tap letting in water under the base.

I've put a straight edge across the basin and there is a slight bump where the tap is mounted, preventing it from sitting flat.

Before I entertain the idea of contacting the manufacturer and having the basin swapped (I'm worried they'll all be like this as how can just one be moulded wrong?) is it possible to add thicker o-rings to the base of the tap?

I'm lost with all the options and my plumber just wants to empty a tube of silicone under the tap to "sort it".

Before you ask why we didn't notice it before - we just assumed the tap wasn't the best and we'd be getting a better one soon. But all taps have this problem.

There nothing out there right now. The options are either;

• huge models from Japan that are too old or don't work on your network;
• all-screen, too-wide flaships;
• "feature phones" that are crap with crapper cameras.

The market needs a modern Android in the same from factor as the flip phones from pre iPhone days.

Sidephone is perfectly placed for it.

£75 for a SINGLE 13A fuse for a UK plug, that's meant to magically "improve performance".

I'm just looking for a quick take in preference here. I currently add all my speakers/media players to both but I'm starting to feel like I'm duplicating effort.

Would adding speakers to only Music Assistant (then advertising to Home Assistant) be cleaner?

Is there much benefit to having them available from both ends? I can also advertise back the other way (HA > MA) but it's starting to feel like a snake eating it's own tail.

It feels neater to have MA manage all the music/audio side of the automations, with HA accessing it all via MA. But I imagine I could be missing out on key functionality with not having them directly in HA too.

Edit: judging by the very nice and pleasant responses here I can see my original tone didn't come across well. And as a nice bonus I now have a lot of calming, polite responses to use to smooth out the day. Nice to see so many nice people in this role.

I'm about to install a lot of 20mm PVC conduit runs in my garage for upcoming electrical work, but I can't find definitive information on whether I need to be solvent welding all the connections, or not.

I came across some coupling fixings that allow for the pipe to expand and contract - suggesting that welding isn't expected - but I've also seen a few videos of people solvent welding the pipe into the female connectors for junction boxes.

Should I be solvent welding the conduit runs or not?

I'm happy waiting and not expecting Amazon Prime levels of turnaround here. I'm just taking a temperature of what the current timescales are.

My P2D order had "stalled" for a month until I reached out to support and they got it shipped. They said it was the right thing to do, but I still felt cheeky doing it.

For those of you who have received your PT2 - when did you see it hit the shipping stage after you'd confirmed your address and paid the taxes/duty etc.?
