have you ever had to quit a sport because you lack the durability for it?

in my case, i had to quit wrestling after a few lessons because my ribs kept getting hurt from takedowns. i could handle judo in the past but they also used softer mats

to those who have done boxing and kickboxing, in what sport is it easier to hit without getting hit.

just to be clear, if you block a kick, then i dont consider it as getting hit.

i have done boxing but not alot of kickboxing yet. because of the risk of kicks, you are forced to use less head movements. you get use longer weapons. but they can also be catched which will make you vunerable.

from what i can tell, roundhouse kicks can leave you vunerable as well if you opponent charges at you while you throw the kick.

how does your gym teach you to block hooks and headkicks with mma gloves?

were u told to keep your arms pressed against your head or not? and do u use both arms to block head kicks?

how you do deal with people who try to punch at the same time when you punch during sparring?

it happens in boxing and kickboxing. guys who eat punches while returning with harder ones.
very difficult to deal with.
i try to slip to the side while i punch but i can still get caught by a hook.

one method i can think of is to keep training to increase speed. throw a very fast punch and get away before he can process what happened.

another method i can think of is to use bjj stuff but im looking for more striking only solutions.

question to those who are able to do high kicks.

how high are you able to raise your leg if you raise it slowly? because im getting the impression that those who can do head level kicks usually can only raise their leg to a height where its parallel to the ground. i wonder if anyone here can get their foot to head level by raising their leg slowly..

whats harder? dodging mma gloves punches or dodging boxing gloves punches.

all i know is boxing gloves are heavier but it has bigger surface area meaning you need to move your head more to get away from the punches.

EDIT: what about parrying? is that easier against mma gloves or boxing gloves?

how does it feel to receive a knee strike to the body?

like is it comparable to getting punched hard? or does it feel far more painful than that? the gyms in my city i have seen so far prohibit knee strikes so i never get to feel what its like to receive one. from the matches i have seen online, fighters doesnt seem to be that bothered to getting knee strikes.

looking for kickboxing gyms that allows knees during sparring

i dont intend to compete but i just like to spar.
if the gym allows lightly thrown oblique kicks too, that would be great

did anyone else use story mode to practice eigong?

its what i did after struggling against fuxi. made a back up of my save, set game to story mode, then use the sliders to quickly reach whatever phase i want. then use the back up save to fight her for real. shes not frustating using this method. practicing her the normal way sounds so annoying.

would losing fat make judo less painful?

dojo mat is pretty hard. losing weight would make me fall with less force but there also would be less fat to absorb the impact. has anyone here lost or gained weight and noticed any difference?

question about double leg takedown set up.

only took one wrestling lesson so far. i have seen a double legtakedown setup where u try to push your opponent head down. your opponent then tries to push his head up and then u shoot the double leg. but what if your opponent doesnt try to push his head up? whats are the best ways to continue then?

to those who have done both kickboxing and boxing, in what sport does size matter more?

from my experience, in kickboxing, it matters more. a bigger dude managed to take me out with just a hard teep to the belly.
