ZenMarket added ~4.5 kg in packaging to my ¥9,200 guitar and quoted ¥29,981 shipping. Is this normal?

I’ve been using ZenMarket for years and have purchased nearly 100 items, shipping around ¥300,000 worth of goods without any major issues. Unfortunately, this is the first time I’ve been genuinely disappointed.

I bought a used guitar for ¥9,200, but the quoted UPS shipping cost is ¥29,981—more than 3× the value of the guitar.

The guitar itself weighs around 4.4 kg, while the packed parcel is 8.91 kg (118 × 49 × 22 cm). I even paid ¥1,000 for reinforcement packaging, but the shipping still seems unbelievably expensive.
To make matters worse, once it arrives in India, I’ll also have to pay 40% customs on the item value plus the shipping cost, increasing the total even further.

By the time I pay the shipping, customs, and other fees, the total cost will be approaching the price of a brand-new guitar from a better brand that I could simply buy locally. At that point, buying this used guitar through a proxy service just doesn’t make financial sense.

I contacted ZenMarket, but the only options offered were paying to cancel and repack (with no guarantee of a lower shipping cost), paying additional labor charges to remove the guitar neck if possible, or simply choosing another shipping method.

As a student, this has been incredibly disappointing. If I had known the shipping would be this expensive, I would never have bought the guitar. After nearly 100 purchases and spending around ¥300,000 through ZenMarket, I never expected to feel this disappointed. Unless something changes, this will most likely be my last purchase through ZenMarket.

Has anyone else shipped a guitar from Japan to India? Is this price normal due to the parcel size, or does this quote seem unusually high? I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences or any advice.

Canon EF - Mirror only returns on advance stroke, camera locks after frame counter reaches 1

Hi everyone,

I'm having a strange issue with my Canon EF and I'm hoping someone here has seen this before.

I was testing the Quick Load (QL) system with no film loaded. I had the back door open and was just playing around with the loading mechanism to understand how it works. I wasn't forcing anything or taking anything apart.

Now the camera behaves like this:

With the back door fully open:

- I can advance the lever and fire the shutter as many times as I want.

- The shutter itself seems to operate normally.

- However, when I press the shutter, the mirror goes up and stays up.

- The mirror only comes back down when I advance the lever again.

- Then I can fire another shot, the mirror goes up again, and it once again stays up until the next advance stroke.

With the back door closed:

- The camera advances normally from "S" to "1" on the frame counter.

- As soon as the counter reaches "1", the advance lever locks completely and won't move any further.

- The shutter release button is not physically locked—I can press it—but pressing it does absolutely nothing. The shutter does not fire.

- Since the shutter won't fire, the advance lever stays locked.

So basically:

- Back open = unlimited winding and firing, but the mirror only returns when I wind on.

- Back closed = advances from S to 1, then the advance lever locks and the shutter button does nothing.

Has anyone experienced this on a Canon EF? Could I have somehow put the QL/film transport mechanism out of sync, or does this sound more like a mirror return or shutter timing issue that just happened to show up while I was testing the QL system? Any ideas or troubleshooting steps would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Canon EF light meter & slow speeds not working

I recently picked up a Canon EF and I’m trying to figure out an issue with it.
The battery check light comes on normally.
I’m using LR44 batteries with the usual aluminium foil spacer/adaptation.
The fully mechanical shutter speeds (1/1000 down to 1 second) all seem to work fine.
However, the light meter doesn’t appear to work, and the electronically controlled slow shutter speeds (below 1 second) don’t function at all.
Since the battery check light works, I’m wondering if the camera is at least getting power. Could this be a problem with the battery adaptation, dirty battery contacts, a wiring issue, or is there a common failure point on the Canon EF that causes the meter and electronic slow speeds to stop working?
Has anyone experienced this before or knows what I should check next?

Which is the best looking LEATHER CASE for OM-1 bodies?

I’ve seen brown, black, soft, hard but not sure what to get, please share photos of whichever u have.
Personally not a fan of the cases which have threaded metal at the bottom as it doesn’t let u keep the camera fully flat.
Also, does OM-10 leather cases fit on OM-1?

Pixco Olympus to digital adaptor. Are they of good quality?

Hi, so i’m getting a new Fujifilm X-pro2 next week. I was thinking to buy Penf-FujiX adapter & OM-Nikon modification adapter, but I’m not sure if the quality of Pixco is good and reliable. If anyone has brought adapters from Pixco, please share your experience
