I booked a FHR hotel last year for a stay later this year and received the FHR credit a few days later. Our plans have had to change and I need to cancel that booking, but want to book another FHR for around the same date and same hotel chain, but different county.

I figure I'll loss the credit, but was wondering what are people's experiences? If I cancel and rebook right away, would I be able to keep my credit? Has anyone had any luck in calling in to Amex to make the change?
