Tech help with an OLD train sim

I wonder if anyone here can help with a multiple decade old problem. I have the pictured copy of 'Train Driver', a train sim from 2005 set on the West Somerset Railway, which acts as both an independent program or an add on pack for Trainz 2004 & 2006. Back in the day I tried to get it running on my Windows XP (which the back of the box claims it is for), but after installing we could never get it to actually open the application. I also own Trainz 2006, but when we couldn't get it to add anything on to it either.

Today, I tried to get it running again, this time on my Windows 10, but I've hit the same problem. I've installed it as a standalone train sim, and clicked on the .exe file. I got the start up menu (with Start, Options, Readme, Quit) but when I hit Start, I received an error message telling me to log in with administrator privileges and try again. So, I ran the program as an administrator, (which made the start up menu go weird, see the 3rd picture) but when I hit start, the menu closed then nothing happened. Absolutely nought. I've checked it isn't running in the background, I've tried Windows compatability, but nothing makes anything happen.

Can any of you help?

Random find from Poundland

Walked into my local Poundland and found something that sent me down a mini rabbit hole. Part of a range of sets that promote a German supermarket, which somehow made its way to the UK.

Very sticker heavy, but found a fair bit of charm in it all to be honest. Plus there's a few unique pieces I wasn't expecting. Can't complain really for £1. Tempted to get another XD

Greetings fine people of r/Controller! I am but a humble casual looking for some advice. I've got this fairly old controller that I use for older PC games, and I find something about its shape that makes it really comfortable to use even for longer periods. However, as good as it is, it is in places showing it's age, as the left analog stick is gradually getting smoother and wearing down, and after some periods of use I find tiny black bits have come off and onto the socket. In addition to that, some modern games struggle to recognise its inputs (non-Steam ones, so remapping isn't easy). In the interest of future proofing, I thought I'd come to you experts for advice on finding, if possible, a modern replacement that is as similar in shape and size as possible. Any help/suggestions much appreciated. Thanks!

Stuff from the rules:

Budget: Not huge, to be honest. Probably £30-£40 tops (But I haven't bought a controller in yonks, so no clue what the going rate is. Happy to be corrected.)

Country: UK

Compatibility: PC

Desired features: As similar in shape and size as possible to the one pictured (+ 4x rear triggers instead of 2x, if possible)

Games: I tend to play a fair bit of retro/indie stuff due to current hardware limitations, but looking to future proof if I ever get an upgrade.
