We're raising $322 to cover Imara's tests and fospice care ๐Ÿ™

It's been a while since we shared an update aboutย Imara! โค๏ธ

She's been doing wonderfully and has adjusted so well to living with us. Imara was originally a neglected kitty whose rescue journey started with a friend before her care was eventually passed on to us.

She has a large lesion on the right side of her face that had long been suspected to be cancer. Our local vet relayed her biopsy results in the last week of June, and we had our first oncology consult yesterday. Her results confirmed that she has squamous cell carcinoma. After multiple tests with the oncologist, we've learned that her cancer is high-grade and currently at stage 3.

The good news is that there are virtually no signs of metastasis - at least not in her lungs, her slow-healing wounds on her back (5th photo), or in any of her lymph nodes except possibly for the one adjacent to her lesion. The vet recommended we pursue chemo, but because of how extensive her lesion had already become by the time she was rescued, chemotherapy would be palliative rather than curative.

Chemoย canย extend her life, but her quality of life during it could be hit or miss. We've read that cats often tolerate chemotherapy better than humans do, but we don't want Imara to go through unnecessary stress or side effects if there's a chance it could sacrifice the comfort she currently has. Right now, she's doing very well on her combination of pain medications and analgesics. She rarely has bad days and is as food-motivated as ever.

We've always known deep down that Imara may be around for just a good time and not a long time, and when the time comes, we'd be glad to help her cross over with the dignity she deserves. But for now, it looks like we'd have a few more happy months with her.

Help with covering Miss Imara's tests would be so appreciated. We may need a bacterial culture by her next visit because she has a non-resolving infection (breakdown at the end). Our donation channels can be seen below!

Update on Leon - abandoned kitten with neurological problems | continued support is greatly appreciated as he remains hospitalized and in treatment

I come bearing great news: Leon has made a positive turnaround ๐ŸŽ‰

This little trooper has come such a long way since his rescue. You can see our previous post about him here:ย https://redd.it/1ugdltp

While he's no longer in critical condition, he's still very frail. There are times when his temperature drops quite low (34-35ยฐ C), and while he has regained his appetite, he occasionally still requires assisted feeding. He's also still wobbly, can't stand up for long periods, and his head continues to twitch.

Initially, we were worried that his neurological symptoms were caused by another disease, which would have been much harder to manage and may have warranted euthanasia consideration. However, given the improvements we've seen since starting his FIP treatment, these symptoms now appear manageable and are expected to improve as he progresses through treatment. He still has a long road ahead, as he'll require a three-month course of treatment.

Help for Leon would be immensely appreciated! We hope you can continue keeping this guy in your thoughts ๐Ÿ™

---

Donations from our previous appeal allowed us to purchase two vials of FIP medication and cover Leon's hospitalization costs through a few days ago. That said, his costs from yesterday onward remain uncovered. His inpatient care is $33 per day, each vial of FIP medication costs $33, and he still has pending blood work that will add to his total medical expenses.

Receipts for Leon can be seen in our transparency sheet:

Abandoned kitten in critical condition and undergoing treatment for a neurological disease | support needed ๐Ÿ™

We shared Leon's story on another subreddit a few days ago. He's one of our most recent rescues - a kitten who was abandoned at the public market and found in very poor condition.

We took over his care immediately and rushed him to the vet, where he has remained hospitalized since. He is suspected to have neurological FIP, and while he is still critically ill, we've been holding on to the small improvements we've seen since starting treatment. Recovery from this disease can be a long and difficult journey, but we've seen many cats pull through with treatment, and we're holding on to that hope for Leon.

For now, Leon is on assisted feeding and requires intensive supportive care. He still has a long road to recovery ahead of him. As of today, his veterinary bill is estimated at $205, and we expect this to continue increasing as he remains hospitalized. His hospitalization costs $33 per day, while each vial of FIP medication costs $33 as well.

We're raising roughly $280 to cover his initial treatment costs. Any help for Leon would be incredibly appreciated:

๐Ÿ†˜ Emergency rescue: this kitten was abandoned in the market with a neurological issue. His treatment is ongoing - help needed โ—๏ธ

Two days ago, a storekeeper at the public market found this kitten abandoned inside a closed box. By the time he was discovered, he was already in poor condition - wobbly, weak, and refusing to eat.

Unfortunately, we hadn't crossed paths during our feeding rounds over the last two days, but the storekeeper stayed behind this evening before closing to seek help for the kitten. Despite their best efforts to provide first aid, the kitten continued to deteriorate and urgently needed proper medical care. Our hands are already full at the moment, but it's incredibly difficult to look away when a kitten still has a real chance at surviving and making a full recovery with treatment.

As of today, he can no longer stand without support. He is suspected of having neurological FIP and has already been started on treatment. He will remain hospitalized until he stabilizes, which could take anywhere from a few days to a week. We've witnessed cats recover from this disease time and time again, so we're holding onto hope that this little one will pull through, too.

He's been named Leon. If you'd like to contribute toward his treatment costs, below are our donation channels. So far, his tests (blood work & x-rays) and 1 vial of FIP medication total to $159, and will grow as he continues recovering in the clinic.

Urgent need for dental, food, and FIP medication | support is badly neededโ—๏ธ๐Ÿ™

Hello, we've had to take a very much-needed break as we navigated challenging times with the loss of a foster and a member of our family in the province, all in one week. So eternally grateful to everyone who offered the kindest words and support. ๐Ÿค

The cats have been doing mostly okay; just a few of our rescues with chronic conditions have had flare-ups, but thankfully, it's all under control now. We are seeking support for the following that can't be put on hold any longer:

- Hawkeye's dental (pic 1): he's FIV+ and deals with stomatitis. One of his teeth chipped off, and the roots remain intact, which has been affecting his appetite. We're expecting dental costs of over $180 to address his issues.

- Tucker's FIP treatment (pic 3): He's got about 20 more days till he graduates from treatment, and so far, he continues to respond very well to it. We only have two more days' worth of meds till we run out. $63 would cover a week's worth of medication for him.

- Any additional help will head toward food and litter costs for the week, which we typically budget more or less $250 with the 60 (community and indoor) cats we're caring for.

Minnie is now resting. Thank you to everyone who helped. โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿฉน

With a shattered heart, I have to share that our beloved Minnie has passed away.

Many of you have been there for her since day one, and I wanted to thank everyone who loved this little girl alongside us.

She was a beautiful calico with the loudest purr and the cutest little habit of making tiny grumbles whenever being smothered in kisses. She was such a happy, playful girl, but affection was always on her terms. She liked doing her own thing and wasn't one to be overly clingy, which is why the first time I woke up to find her sleeping on my chest, purring as loudly as she could, felt so incredibly special. Somehow, this little girl had decided that I was her person.

She had these adorable little meows that sounded like they got cut short whenever she was happy. And every time I'd tell her I love her, she'd answer me back without fail. We could go on and on with it for hours. We tried different words and phrases, but it was only what she responded to.

After everything she had gone through, Minnie had recovered beautifully from her repair surgery. She was so full of life. Hence, what happened next still feels so unbelievable. It all feels like a bad dream I wish I could wake up from. I couldn't exactly form the words to describe how excruciating the past few days have been.

Minnie was completely fine and playing like normal the other day, making it all the more terrifying when she suddenly began struggling to breathe that night. We rushed her for hospitalization, hoping she'd pull through like she always had. But by the next morning, our sweet girl was gone.

She was only three months old. She should've been here way longer.

Thank you to everyone who helped give Minnie the chance to be a happy kitten in the short time she was here. I will carry that gratitude forever.

Goodnight, sweet girl.

Foster kitten in critical condition - struggled to breathe | support needed in covering her ongoing hospitalization

Minnie can't seem to catch a break. Between having two surgeries not too long ago, she's now back at the hospital because she started struggling to breathe tonight.

She was still so active and playful earlier this morning. We don't know what went wrong, but the vet believes she has an emerging respiratory issue/infection. We just stopped antibiotics for her and her brother two days ago on the vetโ€™s advice, believing they were finally in the clear, then this happened.

She's really not in great shape, and I can't believe how quickly things turned. She's so close to my heart, and has been so ever since their rescue a month ago. Please keep her in your thoughts; her tiny body has been through a lot. We still haven't received an update from the vet, but we'll share it in the comments as soon as we hear from them.

Minnie's vet bill today has reached $118, and since she's under critical care monitoring, her day-to-day hospitalization costs are at $49. Weโ€™re very short on funds this month after paying out-of-pocket for a community catโ€™s FIP ongoing treatment and covering a weekโ€™s worth of food. Previous appeals brought in over $73 in combined donations, so weโ€™re honestly struggling.

Any help would be very appreciated. We'll share more updates soon. Thank you.

Seeking food support for over 60 cats, help to keep going on would be so appreciated ๐Ÿ™

Hi all, we're reaching out for support for the cats in our care. At the moment, we're feeding and rehabilitating more than 60 rescued and community cats, and keeping up with their daily needs has become increasingly challenging as donations for food and supplies have reached an all-time low.

Caring for them costs over $250 per week, covering more than 30 kg of kibble, 100 cans of wet food, and 60 liters of wood litter, in addition to their ongoing medical and rehabilitation needs.

Any amount, no matter how small, would make a difference and help us continue pushing through with caring for these cats. Thank you so much for reading this far. ๐Ÿ™

Tucker is finally responding to treatment! Support is needed to help him continue fighting the good fight ๐Ÿ™

Tucker is finally getting better โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿฉน he couldn't have done it without all your help!

It's been a little over a month since we started treating Tucker. Initially, we thought he just had a nasty respiratory infection, till he started struggling to breathe. We eventually discovered he had fluid in his abdomen, and so he was diagnosed with FIP.

It's his 12th day in treatment for FIP, and he has been responding very well to his medication. We just switched him to tablets yesterday because the daily shots were just too stressful for him. It would need three men to restrain him to get the shots done, so considering how stable he's been, he was given the go-ahead to continue with tablets only.

We need help funding Tucker's health check on the 16th and replenishing his FIP meds until the end of the month. ๐Ÿ™ Donations will be used for:

  • Blood work - $60
  • X-rays - $31
  • Fecalysis - $7
  • GS Tablets and Supplements - $116

Total needed: $214

We have a lot on our plate - needing help with our rescued & community cats treatments: (1) suspected cancer, (2) repair surgery, (3) bronchopneumonia, (4) FIP ๐Ÿ™

Cat 1: We took Imara in last month from a fellow rescuer, and she's suspected to have cancer, given the neoplasm surrounding her [then] eye. We are still waiting for her biopsy results, which we should receive any day now, but we had to take her to the vet to revamp her pain management. Thankfully, her current meds are making her very comfortable and happy!

Cat 2: Minnie is one of our most recent foster kittens who underwent an enucleation just last week because of a prolapsed eye. Her incision reopened, and she needed a repair surgery. The sutures were still intact, but an infection deep in her eye tissues caused a fluid pocket under the incision, and the pressure made her skin tear open. ๐Ÿ˜ž

Cat 3: Claire is our community cat from the market who was suspected to have a diaphragmatic hernia, but thankfully, she doesn't. ๐Ÿฅณ We are dealing with bronchopneumonia, though she has been responding very well to her daily meds and is the best patient!

Cat 4: Last but not least, our feral boy Tucker, who's not so feral anymore! He's on the 9th day out of 42 days of treatment for FIP, and he's been so active and practically back to his old self, which makes us so happy!

All four cats have racked up $466 in uncovered vet bills, which we really need help raising so we can continue caring for our current rescues and helping more cats in our community. ๐Ÿ™ Tucker is out of FIP medication as of tonight as well, and we'd need to buy his next dose, which is tomorrow.

We've got cats in the community waiting to be fed every day! Support to keep them nourished would be so appreciated ๐Ÿ™

We've had medical cases lately that every fundraising effort has had to head to, so we were hoping to make a singular post for food support. We've got a little over 30-40 cats in our community who rely on daily feeding, and we've captured some of them in this video! They've been TNR'd, are provided medical care as needed, and are thriving thanks to the generosity and constant support of this community.

We normally spend $200-$250 weekly for food, which covers both dry and canned wet food. A helping hand would be incredibly appreciated and would go a long way for these cuties who already have it so hard living on the streets alone.

Dealing with multiple things at once - out of supplies, cats in treatment, pushing through burnout | support needed

It happens to be that time of the month when everything is nearly running out. We only have litter to last for two days, we'd be completely out of dry food tomorrow, vaccines needing updates, and dentals lined up are some I could think of at the top of my head.

We're caring for a little over 60 cats, with residents, fosters, and community cats combined. It can be challenging, especially with so many sick right now. Tucker is a feral who's been so difficult to medicate, and he needs daily shots for his FIP treatment! And Claire, our community cat from the market, is suspected to have a life-threatening hernia - we'll be running to another vet tomorrow to get x-rays and a treatment/potential surgery plan lined out.

We also still have over $230 of unpaid vet bills for Tucker and another rescue. Crossing our fingers that we'd have the capacity to square that out soon.

Any support would be really amazing right now to ease our worries and help the cats get by. We hope you can consider helping out if your heart and capacity allow you to. ๐Ÿ™

Our feral community cat Tucker is now dealing with pneumonia and FIP | Support is needed as he recovers from both grueling but curable diseases ๐Ÿ™

We really thought Tucker was heading out of the woods. ๐Ÿ˜”

Last week, he was hospitalized for several days with a severe respiratory infection. Because he is feral, trapping him took time, and his condition became lifeโ€‘threatening before we got the chance to secure him.

We thought things were finally heading in the right direction, but after a few days of taking him home, we had to rush him back to the vet because he started struggling to breathe. He was becoming a lot skinnier, but weirdly getting heavier. X-rays ended up revealing his abdomen is full of fluid, and that his respiratory infection had progressed to pneumonia.

Poor boy has been through a lot. He has been diagnosed with FIP and will need 42โ€“84 days of treatment to be completely cured. We still have an unpaid balance of $103 from his previous hospitalization, and heโ€™s expected to stay a few more days while his breathing stabilizes. Weโ€™re anticipating an additional $250+ in costs.

Tucker will additionally require approximately 2โ€“3 vials of FIP medication per week, at about $34 per vial. Any help would make a meaningful difference for him and his recovery. ๐Ÿ™
