2015 SC style mod V2 update

Based on some of the feedback I got on the last post I’m working on a v2 version that lets it easier to tell by feel where the edges of the pads are.

I also started working on tackling the grips. It doesn’t 100% replace the feel of the original controller but gets very close.

Still want to do something about the dual stage trigger mod. The sound is too harsh for my tastes

Anyone know what’s going on with my A1 mini?

Everything works in the app but recently I been having issues with the printer screen. It would work after a reboot it would come back

The people yearn for the 2015 steam controller

I got the new steam controller at release but I kept finding my self going back to the old controller.

It’s not a 100% replacement for the original controller but I added mods to get it much closer to the feel of the original.

Arched grips, circular concaved pads and dual stage triggers

STLs and more info posted here

SC 2015 style Concaved Pads (Release)

I started this project a while back but finally got the a point that I’m happy enough to share.

This mod gives the new steam controller a closer feel to the original 2015 controller. There's a larger surface area for your thumbs to rest on and adds a slight concavity while retaining all touch functionality.

STL for Concaved Pads

I have also included STLs for the old flatter square version which mainly act as a thumb guide with a thinner profile.

This is my first time designing a 3d print so if you try them out please let me know how they are!

OTHER MODS

Grips are highly recommend to use in conjunction with this mod.

Thanks to u/gama3000 for helping with some of the modeling. I recommend his SC1 style grips

For those asking about the dual stage triggers I made a post here

Any ideas what the AMS Light motors aren’t working when I have the m6 attached?

I have the m6 clip mod to attach PFET tubes from the AMS to the dry box.

But when I have the m6 socket attached the motor doesn’t seem to work. The only way I was able to get the motor to work is take off the socket any ideas?

Update on Concaved trackpad mod + angled SC1 grips

Quick tease as I wait for parts to print,
The concaved pads are now integrated with the front plate which should make it easier to take on and off and positioned at the correct height.
Additional rather then following the angle of the stock trackpads this will now follow and angle more similar to the original controller.

Going to try a few test prints and once it feels good can start working on improving the aesthetics.

The current the plan is to have this in two parts a front plate and a backplate that connects magnetically.

I’m not sure affect the TMR sticks but will have to play around more.

The rear I’m still toying around with but do like the idea of having a backplate similar to the OG.

Concaved trackpad mod update. Really liking how it’s coming out

Threw up quick test to try it out, it really feels a lot closer to the original controller

Thanks u/gama3000 for helping cleaning up the geometry on the left pad

More concaved trackpad mod in working on.

Found the trackpads stock to be very uncomfortable coming from the og controller. Made a quick mock up as POC and works but the right side seems to catch my thumb so would need to be tweak more.

This really needs to be done in conjunction with custom grips.

Tried out dual stage trigger mod

Was missing the dual stage triggers from the SC1.

Tried out this mod and works much better I thought it would. The tact switch has a much higher activation force than the switch in the SC1 which I felt it was too easy to accidentally activate. There probably is a slight loss in analog range but I don’t really play racing games so probably should be an issue.

It is much louder then I’d like but there’s probably a way to make it quieter

Anyone around Suwanee, Buford, Duluth has access to a 3d printer?

I have a couple pieces that I need to get 3d printed willing to pay for cost of filament + little extra

Is there anyone local with access to one?

WTF the new red items will disappear on June 1???

This is ridiculous I spend a long time grinding to collecting over 100 red coms chests and just now I find out they will disappear in 4 days? Tarkov is better than this garbage, Nokia would never do something like this.

Is this the cheapest way to hit the 150k gear min for lockdown?

This costs about 350k can shave 20-50k by removing the suppressor and using worn helmet

Can we go even cheaper? Honestly don’t even care if the build is viable, what is the absolute cheapest shit kit we can get in with
