I Got Told That I Was Rude, Disrespectful, Uneducated, and Unprofessional

Really long read/rant. Educational TL:DR at bottom.

Y'all... the entitlement of the T1's in amazon is crazy. Like, I get it. Y'all essentially have no consequences to your actions because if you get fired, you'll be back in 90 days. (with the exception of a few fireable offenses.)

I work as an OMR. My license is 100% active with the state and has been for the last 10 years. My license level is CCEMT-P.

I responded to the floor tonight for an unresponsive AA. When I arrived the AA was actively seizing and presented with tonic-clonic like motions. There was a T1 AA was actively instructing another AA to hold the seizing AA's head still while they messed with the seizing AA's mouth/jaw.

When I saw this my medical training immediately kicked and I became an advocate for the unresponsive AA. I used a very stern loud voice and told everyone to stop, and back away. The AA trying to "help" just looked at me while continuing attempting to put something in the unresponsive AA's mouth, but as expected, their jaw was clenched.

This time I yelled, and told the AA to "get the hell away you're going to hurt them."

Deadass... the AA goes, "I just took CPR a month ago I know what i am doing"

Not going to lie but this literally caught me off guard because I've never heard this response in real life with my own ears.

I essentially told the AA if they didn't back up I would ensure they get fired because everything they're doing is wrong and dangerous.

This caused them to stand up, and start yelling at me, but they did back away and stand with the other gaukers. I asked an AM if anyone had called 911 and was told another AM is on the phone with them now. I attempted to put a barrier between the seizing AA's head and floor with a jacket. As I was doing this, I asked for a WHSS to go get the nearest AED as I was worried this could be a potential be precardiac arrest "seizure" because the AA was purple and not breathing at all.(Again, this is quite common during seizures i just wanted to be prepared) I pulled a pocket mask out of my bag and got it ready just incase I would need to perform assisted ventilation. (Really wish Amazon corporate would allow us to have BVM's. 😢)

Kid you not, the same AA that I yelled at is heard in the background very loudly saying, "you don't even need that. This is a seizure not cardiac arrest. You don't even know what your doing."

At this point, i had enough and I looked at an OM and told them to shut the immediate area down, and get everyone not involved or helping away.

Once the AA stopped seizing I ensure adequate respirations had restored. I Immediately then put them in the recovery position. I then palpated felt both radial/carotid pulse to ensure adequate perfusion. They were becoming less cyanotic so I became less concerned with anything serious.

EMS/fire arrive and transport the AA.

Afterwards, the AA that I got into it with comes into the Wellness Center and begins trying to "educate" me because they had more real life experience than me because amazon just makes us watch a few videos and then says we good to provide medical care. They went on about how they just took a CPR class and were in school to become a nurse.

At this point I was just done being professional because at the end of the day 1. I am an hourly associate just like they are, 2. I did what was best for the AA i was treating, and 3. I'm only at Amazon for the quality of home work/life balance because I make $15 an hour more at my ambulance agency working PRN.

I told the AA that they really need to go back to school and re-educate themselves because if they get their RN license they're stupid enough to kill someone. (Yeah, not the best thing to say but I can only take so much.)

They continued to belittle my education and I provided them with the facts about how my education is actually considered more advanced than an RN fresh out of school and that I'm fully licensed and capable to perform the roles of RN, respiratory therapist, phlebotomist, pharmacology, and doctor all on my own. (I know, I can't actually act as a doctor, but i don't need a doctor to tell me to push 95% of the medications I have on hand or sign off on me doing invasive advance procedures in the field.)

The AA goes, "I didn't realize you were a paramedic. I thought you were just safety because of your vest."

I said, we all wear the same vests, but have different roles. My vest says OMR on the back, theirs say safety. OMR's all have to have an active medical license to apply for the OMR job.

They then back tracked and said that I didn't have to be so rude and unprofessional because they were just trying to help. When I raised my voice at them it came across as me being disrespectful. I told them that my job is to be an advocate for the sick, not an advocate for their feelings.

At this point, they stormed out of wellness. Kid you not, 15 minutes later HR walks in to Wellness and goes, "can we chat?" 🤦🤦🤦🤦

Could I have been nicer? sure. should I be placed in the situation where I have to be hindered performing the job i was hired for? absolutely not.

TL:DR

If you see a green vests read the back. If it says "safety", they're a safety specialist. If it says "onsite medical representative" they're medical. Like actual medical and not the joke of a first aider program that Amazon runs. So let us do our thing unless we are actually being negligent.

Also, Amazon essentially makes it impossible for OMR's to promote to L5+. So many of us become normal Safety so we can move up.

This is why I hate how Amazon ties their Medical team to the OSHA safety team. But that's a whole different rant lol

Lore Master Yellow Line

I'm currently leveling up a yellow line LM as I really enjoy playing support roles in these styles of games.

When I eventually hit endgame, are yellow line LM needed for group content?

AEMT/MEDIC Needs to Become the New Standard on ALS Units. (Long read)

TL:DR: Unpopular opinion, but I definitely feel that EMT basics no longer have a place on ambulances and EMT-B current scope needs to be completely eliminated or converted to into a new Medical First Responder (MFR) scope, and the AEMT scope needs become the new "basic" scope.

Here is my personal reasoning as to why:

I've worked many years in EMS and I'm not going to lie. When I first started, things were great. The service I worked for only ran double medic units, and would only hire EMT's if they were actively in a paramedic program and they would operate as a 3rd rider. Then things shifted majorly when paramedics started to realized hospitals paid better and occupational paramedicine really became a thing. This obviously lead to EMS agencies having to adapt to less paramedics in the field. Which lead to our company adopting the national standard of EMT/Medic combinations.

This was fine at first, but after about 6 months I began hating work. Of the 10-18 calls we average in a 12 hour shift on average the paramedic techs 80% of them because our protocols call for an IV to be established. (The pt has nausea, oppp, gotta start an IV.) My supervisor noticed the change in my mentality toward work and switched me with an AEMT partner.

Note: My employer/region also allows AEMT's to utilize their full scope of practice. They can also take certification courses to become ACLS certified. (They get extra pay. It's like becoming a CCP but for AEMT) They can tech calls categorized as ALS where my EMT-b could not.

This was a blessing in disguise. While they aren't paramedics they took so much of the workload off my shoulders and we essentially able to go back to the old way when we did double medic units of splitting teching the calls to a 50/50 ratio. (This is because very little 911 calls truly require paramedic level intervention.)

Sadly, after 1.5 years with my AEMT partner, they moved on to become a paramedic and now they're on their own truck and im back with a basic.

My old partner has been a paramedic for a year now, and has been with an EMT partner for the last 6 months. They reached out to recently regarding how they're already looking for a new job because they're tired of the workload and staying over every shift to complete reports.

Regional backstory:

Recently, things in our region have become dire, and medical control has authorized full BLS ambulances to answer 911 calls, but will not allow for LALS units. This got me thinking...How is a full BLS unit, better than a LALS unit?

Data:

In many states and protocol regions EMT-B's are simply glorified MFR's as MFR can literally do everything a EMT-B does with the exception of kings and combi-tubes and nitro. (And lets be honest. No one uses these anymore, and ideally you should have an IV established before giving nitro)

Education:

By having people work at the AEMT scope for a bit it will allow them to become better and stronger paramedics in their future. I've seen so many student paramedics become so frustrated during clinicals because so much information and clinical skill sets are shoved in your face in such a short period. They're trying to become proficient at starting IV's, knowing their medications, and cardiology all at once. This leads to them feeling overwhelmed and dropping out.

By becoming an AEMT first, it gives them the basic skill sets that cause so much panic and frustration in the paramedic program. Then when they eventually go through the medic program they can literally focus on the true paramedic intervention because they 1. Know their meds (or should), know how to start IV's, and could potentially already know how to read EKG'S, and be ACLS certified.

Conclusion:

It's time to get the basic/medic combo removed from ALS units and either have AEMT/Medic or Medic/Medic. The EMT/MEDIC combination is leading to paramedic burnout at a much faster rate which does not help the already shortage of paramedics.

Track Crop Ability

Does this actually do anything useful when out in the world? It says nearby crops are highlighted on the mini map. But I've never seen any plants in the open world, and as for the crops, hopefully I know they're there because I have to plant them first lol.

Google says this game doesn't have plants in the open world like mining nodes etc. So what is the point of this?

Please Update Tutorial Already!!!!

Just bought the game last night. I don't know what to believe anymore with the tutorial after I spent about 25 minutes looking for the option to buy trucks from the loading bay.

I went to every menu in-game, went to every menu on the loading bay itself, attempted to click on the truck, searched in-game for trucks to see if I could buy them that way, accidentally deleted the loading bay, and then got frustrated enough to resort to google.

Just to find out the buy truck option is no-longer in game or a feature. I wasted about 25 minutes of my time.

Suggestion: Update the tutorial IMMEDIATELY when you change a game feature.

A Question to the OMR's

How do you handle high volume events without feeling completely overwhelmed with completing standard work?

So far I've been at Amazon for about 2 years and during every high volume of event such as prime or during peak every shift I just feel completely overwhelmed.

For example for this prime, we have been averaging 2 to 3 new injuries a night. Last night I had a total of 11 onsite follow-ups throughout my shift. The expectation at my site is to have at least two follow-ups for all on site first aid cases. This doesn't include the two new work-related injuries and one 1 personal medical with EMS activation. ( note, for the EMS activation my specialists abandoned me in amcare and I had to do it all on my own)

That means I had to do at bare minimum 22 documented follow ups.

In between doing the follow-ups I am still expected to complete all my standard work as such: ensuring metric in case compliance for all workman's comp claims, ensure concentra portal has been cleared, ensuring RTW is compliant, ensuring ICAREs are done, etc.)

I get the bare minimum support from my team in terms of helping me complete my standard work or any of my work. If there are any misses then my WHSM wants an explanation why. When I explained to them that the workload is just unrealistic for a single person they ask if I asked for help . When I told them that I did and I get essentially told that it is not their job or they are busy doing something else they just choose not to hear it.

They always ask me if I reached out to IPS, and when i say yes, but they don't help because they have absolutely no accountability to perform their actual job role because they don't report to the managers (L5 or L6) they report to the L7. They are extremely quick to tell L5 and L6 that they are not their boss too.

So how do you guys handle it?

Lore Master Support Role

Im just getting into this game for the first time ever and I chose to go with Lore Master because I love pet classes. I really love pet classes when they utilize pets to assist their healing (like scholar in ffxiv) I really enjoy playing healers in MMO's.

However, I am SO confused with this class identity. In the description it says that they're able to debuff, and heal their allies / pets in battle. However, they offer a lot to be desired in the "healing" aspect. They don't really have much, and I get they aren't "main healers", but it's confusing because the yellow line (support) allows them to summon a pet that is for purely healing. But yet, it is absolutely horrible at healing. (This really made me think of scholar from ffxiv)

I feel like the devs just need to rework lore-master yellow line to be a pet based healing spec while you place shields and stuff exactly like scholar works in ffxiv. At least then it would have an actual identity

Pharmacy Flagged Me for Misuse of Medication

Hello,

So I have been taking Vyvanse now for the last 6 months and have never had an issue with obtaining refills. Yesterday, (06/12/26) I called Walgreens to have my prescription refilled seeing how i only had 2 days left of my medication.

The tech goes, "why do you only have 2 days worth of medicine? You picked up your prescription on 05/16/26. You should have 4 days worth. Are you taking your medication correctly and only 1 capsule perday?" I said yes and they go, " well that just doesn't make sense because we double count here and you should have 4 days worth of pills left. So something isn't adding up."

I told them that I was at work and that I could potentially be mistaken with the amount of pills left and that I would recheck when I get home. They go, " well we will go ahead and be flagging your account and this is going to be escalated to your provider."

So I get home from work, and I indeed only have 2 pills left. So I walk over to my calendar confused because I know for a fact that I have not incorrectly used my medication. I remember on 05/16/26 i was completely out of pills because the month priors i was picking up my pills on the 15th. So I would have had to take one of the pills from the prescription I picked up on 05/16/26 just for my daily dose.

I then did the math and 30 days from May 16th is June 14th... so I have the correct amount of pills and the pharmacy tech didn't account for the extra days of the month in May.

Is there anything that I can do because they are escalating this to my doctor like I did something wrong and they're refusing to refill my prescription.

Amazon and HR Changes

They might as well just change the name of HUMAN resources to Artificial Intelligence resources, and do it yourself.

I miss the days i would go to my employer for things like FMLA, and onsite HR would literally give you everything you needed, and answer your questions directly. Now, you just immediately get redirected to call the ERC so you can be switched to speak with DLS. That way they can have you speak with someone that acts like they know what they're talking about and actually doesn't...and gives you the wrong information.

Sad thing is, you cannot even hold them accountable because you will most likely never speak to the same person again.

Sexual Harassment Investigation

So, I was reported for sexual harassment and ethics is handling the investigation.

According to the person investigating they could tell me very little for "confidentiality", but stated that I made an associate feel, "extremely uncomfortable" by "making aggressive eye contact, and smiling seductively". Like I don't even know what that means....

I am a manager and interact with many people while at work. I always try to remain respectful, and am very cordial with all my associates.

I fear this is an AA trying to retaliate for a coaching. However, they will not disclose who i made "extremely uncomfortable." I only know it's a female associate.

Like man... Im 100% gay and have been married to my husband for 10 years....

Anyway, how long does this type of thing take before I know if I am out of a job or not??

Wellness Center / Amcare

Y'all need to remember. Yes, we are medically trained. Yes, many of us hold active medical licenses. Yes, many (not all) of us are well-versed in prehospital emergency care. Yes, we are trained in treating a wide range of conditions including medical and trauma.

However, Amazon handicaps us and will not let us work anywhere near our scope of practice. We are limited to follow ARC/AHA basic first aid standards for your average layperson. With the exception of applying tourniquets. Unless in California, you most likely will die before help arrives because Amazon prohibits us from applying them. (Trust me, if you really need one, you will die before 911 arrives)

Anywho, we cannot send you home, we cannot excuse your time, (Amazon recently changed their policy to reflect that you need to be responsible with your own time, and ensure you have a buffer for being sick.)

Also, you don't need to come to wellness if you're displaying flu like symptoms (just stay home). You don't need to report to us every time you throw up. (Just punch out and go home) If you feel sick before your shift, don't come to work and immediately report to wellness thinking we can can do something for you. Our centers are not designed for you to catch up on sleep.

***WE ARE NOT H.R.*** (with this being said. Don't come to wellness/amcare and take your frustrations out on us. Many of us will remain professional. However, we have our limits, and are hourly employee's too.)

We don't have the same bosses. (Sorry, your ops management has no control on/over me. WHS has it's own team of leadership completely separate from ops. Including HR)

Also!!!

We (wellness/amcare) don't determine your cases to be not work related.

We don't determine or have any role in workman's compensation claim compensability.

If you try to play the Workman's compensation system, it can, and most likey will bite you back.

***We aren't DLS***

***We don't oversee DLS claims*** (don't come to us for them. Go to HR...)

Hey all,

If you enjoy simulation games, I really suggest you try this game. It's on steam for $24.99. It's a combination of hotel and casino management.

The devs have moved back to their other project, but I highly recommend this game. I've spoken with the devs as they're a very small studio, and they said it's likely not feasible for them to return to this title. Most likely due to cost, resource requirement (employees) and that their other game is "more popular" and most likely the smarter finical option.

I would like to change the tides, and have this title become more popular to have support returned.

Plus, why not help support a small team that truly cares about the people playing their games.
