Unpopular Opinion: The world of Cars would’ve made a lot more sense if the characters (who aren’t forklifts) were given invisible hands.

To answer a lot of questions about the Cars universe, they could’ve given the non-forklift characters invisible hands in a similar fashion to the characters of VeggieTales and Angry Birds Toons.

Where despite the characters clearly not having hands, they would still be able to hold things, but the object they were holding would just float next to them, but it would still look like the object was being held.

It probably also would’ve solved the initial problem of the writers wanting Lightning to show Sally a map showing Radiator Springs back on the map at the end of the movie.

Now, this idea would only apply to the characters holding and carrying things, I don’t think they would be able to do anything else with their invisible hands.

Should I just give up?

Several days ago, I posted here asking for advice about how I could get my own indie animated car racing show started.
The commenters weren’t being negative, they were just being honest with me, but it still pushed me to want to give up.

I think I’ve made it clear that I don’t really know what I’m doing.
I’ve got the lore and characters built up, I just need to start writing the scripts for episodes and such, but I run into extreme writer’s block (mainly in dialogue) so much and I don’t know how I can overcome it.

I’m also not much of an artist, let alone an animator.
I’ve tried to design my characters on an unofficial Mii Maker website, but it just didn’t work out for me.

Also, I don’t have any friends that could get involved with my project (or friends period), and the only family member that has helped me is my dad. He’s an indie singer-songwriter and he’s given me writing tips and suggestions for how I should structure my series.

Because I don’t have any friends or other family members that could get involved, and basically everyone else in this community is busy with their own projects, it’s made me contemplate just giving up with my own project.
It’s been made clear to me that my ideas will most likely never come to life, especially since someone told me that “racing is kinda dead”.

That’s when I ask one more time: Should I give up? Or just keep chasing a dream that won’t happen?

I just realized these two have the same birthday, July 2nd

For context, the person in the second picture is Richard Petty, basically the greatest NASCAR driver of all time. Though y’all might know him better as the voice and inspiration for The King from the Cars films.

And last night, I realized him and Christopher Awdry were born on the same day, with Richard being three years older than Christopher.

Not because I don’t want to, but because I don’t know how to

Looking for brainstorming partners and concept artists for my indie 3D animated car racing show (currently passion project)

Basically what the title says.

I’m looking for brainstorming partners/writers for my stock car racing (NASCAR) show I want to start writing out. I’ve mostly just been building the lore for it, but I run into writer’s block almost instantly when writing out the script for the pilot, especially in dialogue and camera angles.

I’m also looking for concept artists to design characters, settings, etc, since I’m not much of an artist and I tried designing my characters with the Mii Maker.

The series is called “Double-Z! Rubber To The Road” and is basically about Zayne Zogge, an autistic teenage rookie competing for the championship in the top series of a fictional stock car racing league I made up.

The tone will be fun and energetic with comedic elements, but will also have serious drama with a bit of edginess and maturity.

-I’m looking for people to come up with plot ideas (because this series will be semi-episodic), character arcs, and more.

-You’ll be especially valuable if you also love NASCAR and know it inside and out, since I’m more of a casual fan.

You don’t need a big portfolio, all you really need is what John Lasseter had when he created Pixar’s Cars: a passion for cars and animation.

I’m currently handling lore, characters, and a little bit of the plot.

Please take note of this: This is currently a passion project with no funding yet. I just want to build a solid foundation, and if we move into production and crowdfunding, we’ll discuss payment.

We’ll use Discord for all of this. We’ll chat and come up with ideas and concepts.
If this sounds like something you want to join in on, comment or DM me with something about yourself and why you’re interested. Thanks in advance.

Looking for people who are interested

Since late 2024, I’ve been building the lore for my indie animated series, but I’m not much of an artist, so I can’t do visuals outside of logos, like the one above.

I plan on hiring animators, voice actors, artists, and more, but I don’t have the money for it. And I don’t want to hire people by saying “If I hire you, you’ll get paid later on”, I shouldn’t have to explain why.

If anyone’s actually interested, as said in the logo above, the series is called “Double-Z! Rubber To The Road” and follows Zayne Zogge, an autistic teenage rookie competing in the Gemini Market Dudley Cup Super Series, the Dudley Cup’s premiere series.

(The Dudley Cup is based on NASCAR)

Under the guidance of his older sisters, who are also his mechanics, Zayne will go through team drama and deal with rival drivers. He will be battling other drivers for the championship, hoping to not just become the 4th rookie champion, but also shatter the record for the youngest champion.

I would like to have more pairs of eyes on my story, since of course my family is gonna be supportive, and I don’t know what the stance is on using AI to overcome writers block, but I imagine it’s near-universally frowned upon in this community.

If anyone is actually interested in my ideas, questions will be answered and suggestions will be appreciated.
The writing is mostly just lore though, I haven’t thought out the whole series yet.

One last thing: If there are any fellow NASCAR and/or motorsport fans out there, what would you like to see in a show like mine?

ALRIGHT I GET IT

I don’t care if you don’t like Cars 2, I too have my problems with it. But the horse has been dead for 15 years and people still want to beat it like a damn piñata.

(And at least Saber is self aware)

My fictional stock car racing league (⚠️LOTS OF TEXT⚠️)

(THE LOGO ABOVE IS TEMPORARY, I DON’T HAVE THE PROPER MATERIALS TO MAKE A GOOD LOOKING LOGO)

Calling all racing/NASCAR fans on this subreddit (if any at all).

For a story I’m trying to find a place to share, I’ve been doing a bit of worldbuilding for the fictional stock car racing league it takes place in. (For stock car racing, think of NASCAR.)

It’s name is the Dudley Cup, not only being the name of the league/sanctioning body, but also the name of the coveted championship trophy given to the driver with the most points by the end of the season.
The league was named after its founder John Dudley.

The Dudley Cup’s highest-tier series is the Xenon Oil Dudley Cup Super Series, or the Xenon Oil Super Series, or just the Super Series for short.
Xenon Oil is the series’ title sponsor, you’ll see the Xenon Oil logo on the Super Series logo, the cars’ windshield banners, etc.

The Dudley Cup doesn’t have a set minimum age requirement. Despite that, the absolute youngest you’ll ever see in the Super Series is 14-16 years old.

The fuel supplier for the Dudley Cup is Luxoil.
They supply the sport with one of their fuels Luxoil+, which is a completely clean-burning, organic, and environmentally friendly variant of their fuel.

The tire supplier for the sport is Voidwalker, a fictional tire brand founded by Robert Voidwalker in 1901.
You can see the Voidwalker logo on the sidewalls of the tires in all white text.

The current cars of the Dudley Cup resemble the real-life NASCAR Car Of Tomorrow with the traditional spoiler. They have carbon-ceramic brakes, and don’t use restrictor plates, tapered spacers, or anything reducing horsepower.
Despite that, the cockpits of the cars are made to ensure the drivers are safe, and the track barriers and catch fences are extremely strong.

The current schedule consists 40 races and is made up of mostly oval tracks, while also having road courses, street circuits, dirt ovals, and clay ovals, along with a few races outside of the United States.
There is also one dirt road course, one clay road course, and one oval beach race in vein of the sport’s early years.

Broadcasting rights for the Dudley Cup currently belong to Omi TV.
They air the races on their sports channel Omi Sports, with the current legendary voices of Jon Pulaski, Trevor Williams, and Darrell Walthorne.

Teams in the Dudley Cup are either regular teams that you might find in real-life stock car racing (Example: Hendrick Motorsports, Joe Gibbs Racing), and sponsor-owned teams, where the sponsor IS the team.
Regular teams are allowed to field up to 4 cars, while sponsor teams are only allowed to field 1 car due to advertising concerns.
—————————————————————————————
I actually made a championship list for the Dudley Cup, which you can view here (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1GCILw7P72IR8sYI2A3X1eNKKM0pK_OQWWDm57d0mqRo/edit?usp=drivesdk) if you want.

Just keep in mind: this championship list will change semi-frequently over time.

The champions in the list above consist mostly of either drivers whose name I pulled out of a magician’s hat and aren’t based on anyone in particular, and drivers who are just blatant stand-ins for real life drivers.

If you’re a fellow NASCAR fan, this is obvious with drivers like Richard Price (Richard Petty) and Dale Eisenhauer (Dale Earnhardt).

Doc Walters, Chick Evelyn, and Sirius McKenzie are special cases, being patterned after Doc Hudson, Chick Hicks, and Lightning McQueen from the Cars films.
—————————————————————————————
But anyway, that what I have for the Dudley Cup for now.
Questions will (probably) be answered and suggestions will be appreciated and taken into consideration.
