Pretty slow day

The Rapala DT6 has become my new favorite lure. I swear, right now the Maumee River is only channel cats 😂

Another great wading sesh on the crankbait

On one of my recent posts, somebody was surprised there was somewhere you could slay channel cats on a crankbait. Well, I did it again. Sometimes I think that the Maumee River ONLY has channel cats and drum. Still fun to catch. Got a surprise smallie at the end when I was trying to sight-fish a school of drum!

Decent little wade session today

The gar (two pics, same fish) was missing its tail fins. I thought that was interesting. The cats were liking my crankbait today while I was looking for smallies.

PB muskie caught today

Technically only my second ever muskie, but was exciting reeling this one in! 41-incher

41-incher caught in the Detroit River today

Was throwing a pink bucktail for smallmouth bass on a Daiwa Aird-X medium spinning rod with 10-lb. line and hauled in this beautiful girl. Only my second muskie ever, and I wouldn’t have gotten it in if it weren’t for my grandfather, who is a huge muskie fisherman, telling me what to do.

Drum City today

Couldn’t keep the drum off the chatterbait today. Got a smallie and a gizzard shad too! The Maumee River provided on Father’s Day. Can’t wait to be able to take my boy out to do this one day.

I’m actually stumped

My grandfather thinks maybe a shad? I’m not sure at all

Edit: Caught in the Maumee River in Maumee, Ohio

Best kayak fishing with an hour or so of Toledo, Ohio

I got into fishing from my kayak last year. Started with a Pelican catch mode 110, and I have my first pedal kayak on the way to me now. Some places on my radar are Lake Hudson State Recreation Area in MI, Harrison Lake and Lake La Su An in OH. I've fished on the Maumee River quite a bit, and I enjoy catching everything from bass, catfish, pike, drum, etc. Does anybody know some good destinations with an hour or so of Toledo, Ohio to go kayak fishing? I wouldn't mind finding some people to go with occasionally either.

Surprise channel cat

This guy bit a chatterbait I was throwing a few days ago. Put up a pretty good fight and wrapped himself up in my line pretty good.

Question about anchoring

I have an anchor for my kayak, but have yet to use it because I’m worried that while I’m fighting a fish it will wrap my line around the anchor rope. I have an anchor trolley on my kayak too, but has anybody ever ran into this?

Will this be alright when I strap it down?

I just installed Yakima Baseline FX crossbars and my roof is not very flat or level. As a result, the rear crossbar is probably like an inch higher than the front. Will this cause any issues for transport when I strap it down with cam straps and bow and stern ties?

Little jaunt on the Maumee River

Went looking for bass to try out the fish finder I installed today, ended up with a catfish and two drum instead. Bonus: Rescued a cormorant that was stuck to a log by somebody’s old fishing line, and had a family of curious ducks watching me load the kayak back onto my car.

Best day on the kayak yet!

Wife and I took our kayaks out today, and while she read her kindle I pulled in a few largies!

Fun day on the ultralight!

Did a little pond hopping the other day. Had two other bass that jumped out of my hand before I could get a picture lol

Second time trying out the wacky worm

Caught 8 with a wacky worm setup, and caught my first two on my ultralight rod with a donkey tail jr lure on it. Not a bad morning. Could tell these fish get caught a lot though because they were pretty beat up. Removed somebody else’s rusty treble hook from one.

Detroit River. Best GD day of fishing of my life.

Grandfather took me out on his boat. These are just the highlights, lost count of all the dang pike we were pulling in. Kept the walleye, released the rest. Such an awesome day.
