I am up against it with this James Bondathon. So if you could limit your mourning to no more than ten minutes! I’m trying to lighten the mood with a Nazi voice.

Air conditioning question

Hello all.

UK based ferret owners will be aware of the massive heatwave we're having at the moment. I have 4 ferrets outdoors, in a shed and I wanted to know if anyone has recommendations on portable air con units.

I would like to invest in one to stop the constant worry when it comes to overheating. I have two huge fans to keep the air circulating and push the hot air out as best as they can. They have ice blocks and water bowls to splash in and I spray them with water to keep them cool.

Has anyone been in the same situation and if so, what air con did you get?

Many thanks.

Anyone else experience this?

Bear with me, because it's a bit of a tangent.

So, I'm 36.5 years old, and have been gaming all my life. I worked for Game retail in the UK for 6-7 years in my twenties, and I always used to have the same thought.

Imagine if you lived 10 years in the past when it came to gaming?

What I mean by this is, you wait for games and consoles to come down in price before you buy. You don't get sucked into the FOMO around new-release games and consoles, and you simply wait. I always used to get sucked into the hype, especially when I was responsible for helping to create that hype by selling pre-orders. I'd pay £55 or £65 for a game, like a lot of people, and then I would play it for a couple of weeks and then get rid.

Then I'd see it on sale a month or two later for half the price of the release RRP.

I used to say to work colleagues 'How much money would you save if you lived a console generation behind?' and How many games would you be able to play on day one of buying a last-gen console?' If you've only just bought that console yourself, the added benefit (apart from financial) is the upgrade in graphics and gaming ability.

Anyway, now I'm on the Steam Deck and (at least for the software side of things) I feel myself slipping further and further into that experience. Take Halo: Campaign evolved, for example. I'm a massive Halo fan and would love to play it, BUT I will not pay day one RRP, I just won't. Another example is Atomfall. I have wanted to play this game from day one! Love the idea and the locations, etc., but I have held off due to the price point. I've just bought the game for £18, and now, I have the excitement at half the cost.

I'm wondering if this is because of my age, being a bit older makes me realise that I don't have to grab the game day one to have that same joy of playing? Or maybe it's because I am using Steam now, and I am fully aware that cheaper CD key sites exist and Steam sales are really good sometimes. I'd like to believe it's the first, and I'm just being smarter with my money.

Does anyone else experience the same?

As above, I have got Fable 2 running on my deck via EmuDeck and Xenia, but im just wondering if there are any patches or settings to make the game run a bit better?

Thanks, all.

Share your setup's

UK based. Had ferrets for about a year now. I did have them when I was younger but they weren't really my responsibility at the time. I currently have 4 ferrets, 3 in the larger enclosure and 1 in the smaller (he doesn't get on well with others). Could I add anything?

Insulation on the roof (inside and out) to keep the heat out in the summer months. Seems to work well.
