Please give help/opinions.

I’ve had these curtains over my doors for a few years. The doors have the blinds built into the glass. This door leads to my double fenced backyard. Lately i’ve been going back forth with A. Leaving the blue curtain as is (first picture) OR , B. Removing them (second picture). What is your opinion?

(Sorry for the clump of curtain on the floor in the second picture. I was just trying to give the general idea).

Need help with attic light fixture

Previous owners of the house barely had any attic access. It was literally a 2ftx2ft square cut into the wall of the attached garage. We closed that up and made attic access complete with drop down stairs in the main part of the house. We have no lighting up there. I noticed this on the ceiling of the attic. The yellow cord is cut but there is a white cord running from it, I dont have the balls to venture further into the attic to see where it goes. We bought a light fixture with a pull string for on/off and we were going to install it. Does this picture look like this could have electricity running to it?

Question

I’ve lived in my house for 11 years and all 11 years I have had not the slightest clue what this cord/outlet and pvc pipe lead to. On my electrical breaker I have figured out the one that it is labeled says “outdoor pumps”. I am very confused as to how this could be an outdoor pump? Is anyone able to explain this. Ive posted pictures of the interior and the exterior side of this random pipe in the wall of my unfinished steps leading to exterior. It appears as whatever it is, it is being powered by an exterior extension cord…does this seem legit? Who should I call to come check this out? The pipe leads completely into the ground and does not come out of the ground anywhere else in the yard.

Question about hardwood flooring

I have hardwood flooring in 2 rooms of my house. The previous owners put carpet over the hardwood, but from what I understand, the hardwood is in good condition. The problem is the moulding and baseboard heater were added after the carpet was put down. If I remove the carpet is there any way to not have to move the moulding and baseboard down also?

So incredibly upset

I just got a new roof, new gutters and new siding put on my house. We just had our first rain storm since the completion of the project. Actually, not quite a rainstorm more like a 24 hour torrential down pour. Last night I got off of working a 12 hour shift, walked into my room, looked up and saw 3 small “dark” spots on my ceiling. My heart sank as I instantly knew what was happening. I immediately called contractor, he comes at midnight, attempts to readjust the gutter….water still coming in. I posted a picture of what my ceiling looks like right now. I made a previous post about how I did not think the gutters were installed correctly as the drip edge is literally behind the back of the gutter, meaning the gutter was drilled into it. I don’t even know what to do anymore. I’m about to call one of those “we buy houses for cash” and just hand the house over and go rent somewhere. I know that issues can’t be diagnosed over reddit, I am attempting to proactively addressthe issue. I just need somewhere to vent and possibly get a little advice. Anything at all, please.

** edited- it is now leaking in my daughter’s room, a completely different wall of the house. Picture in comments

Question about new siding/trim around bay window

I recently got my house resided with all new trim. Upon further inspection I noticed these 2 openings around my bay window. Does this look acceptable? First 2 pictures are both sides of the bay window and the third is the bay window so you can see in context where the gaps are.

What to do about this siding?

I just got my house resided yesterday. Today the gutters are going on. The project is not complete so I haven’t paid for it in full yet. I went outside this morning, not even 24 hours after the completion of the siding and when I stand back away from the house, I see these 2 areas. I sent pictures and a text to the contractor. He is on his way here. What would you do in this situation. These are the only 2 areas like this, that I can see.

Mirror help

One of the first things I did when I moved into my house 11 years ago was take out the fixtures in one of the bathrooms and replace them. I got the “matching” set. I’m wondering if I should switch out the mirror for something more low profile? And if I should go with round or rectangular? Lowe’s has these frameless mirrors (second picture) in both round and rectangle…what do we think?

What to do?

I loved these lamps in the store. I’m not sure what it was about them, maybe they had a vintage vibe to me. I bought them to go on either side of my bed. I did not take into account the bare bulbs. They make the lighting in my room too bright/too dim and too shadowy all at the same time (if that makes sense). I used a 40 watt bulb and also tried a 25 watt bulbs. I tried to move them to different parts of my house, however, the only part of my house that has this “style” is my bedroom (I feel). I cannot return them, as they were the floor model and final sale. Thoughts? Ideas? Someone please help! (Photo is not my bedroom, where they would have worked. Photo is my downstairs area.)

**edited to add, I already have edison light bulbs in the fixtures. They do glow orange but look much cooler toned in the photo.

Light fixture question! Please help!

I would really love to change out my ceiling light fixture in this area. I have been searching for a light fixture that I like for some time now and have finally found one that I love. The problem is my wall sconces (which I also love) have a gold finish. Can anyone tell me if the light fixture in the second picture will look ok in this area? And if it does not, what would you choose?

Outdoor steps/railing question please help

Hello, I have a question that I can’t seem to find the answer to online. My next step will to be to call my town’s building department to see if I can get a definitive answer. I have 3 steps/risers from my front entrance. They currently have rails right now however these railings are from the 1960s and are rusting/rotting. So much so that if you touch them they shake quite badly. I could replace them but I am also wondering if i can remove them entirely? From the top of the steps to the ground is 19 inches. Does anyone know the answer to this? I do have pictures if anyone needs.

Help please

I planted this hydrangea 3 maybe 4 years ago. I have no idea what kind it is, I can’t remember. It got only 2 blue blooms last year and I don’t think any the year before that. I have 5 other panicle hydrangeas and I know exactly how to care for them and always get tons of blooms every year. This is definitely not a panicle and I have no clue what i’m doing. I’m in zone 5a if that helps. Its a shade hydrangea and I do have it planted under a small dogwood tree. It gets some early morning sun.

Can someone please help/tell me what i’m doing wrong with this one?
