Help fixing metal smell and taste (well)

Hello all… Any suggestions to fix this? I have Well water.

Water smells like metal/coins in the shower and I can taste it.

Current setup is a water boss 900. The water feels very slippery during showers so I think my softener is taking care of hardness well.

Treated water results
Hardness -0
Iron - Trace
TDS- 600 PPM
PH 7.2
Chlorine- 0
Sulfur- 0

Raw water tests
Hardness- 30gpg, 31.2
Iron-.5ppm, 1.1
Ferric 1.0
TDS -600ppm
Chlorine -0
Sulfur -0

.5 iron and metal taste/smell

Hello all,my iron is at .5ppm, I was quoted a $2500 system to combat this iron. It is a water softener/iron filtration system that uses salt. Does this seem like a reasonable amount to pay for such problems that I’m having?

Hairline crack new home purchase

Hey all, recently bought this house and I had my first seepage. There is a similar crack that was sealed before purchase and it’s never leaked. What is the cost to seal /injectthese usually?

This is a $380k conventional loan in IL with 10 percent down. Just a quick google search I see the average is 6.65. The lender is family how do I approach if this is a truly high rate to get it lowered.

Found mold during home inspection

Hey all, looking at buying this house. There was a water backup claim from the sump pump 5 years ago. This is in the basement utility room near the sump pit. We were thinking about asking for a $2k credit but now I’m wondering if we should get a mold inspection on it and ask for more.

Buying home should we back out/ ask credit for this?

Hey all, was looking to buy a home they had it advertised as circuit breakers, while technically they do have 1 circuit breaker it’s clearly a fuse box

Would this be a massive pain/cost to upgrade this system or better to walk? Home is at the top of budget

Edit from inspection report received today-
Service amps 100 volts 110-240 vac-copper
120 vac branch circuits-copper
Conductor type- conduit bx
Ground - rod in ground
Breakers -copper
Maximum capacity- yes
Manufacturer -square d
Main breaker location in the panel
GFCI throughout minus one outlet

Will $3100 a month = house poor?

Hey all, my wife and I make about $132,000 gross. After taxes we’re down to $110,000. For debt we have a $235 student loan and $600 car payment.

After closing we would have about $50k in savings.

I know our lender has already approved us and everything but I’m just a bit nervous of making the jump from our $1500 a month rent to $3100 seems like a big pill to swallow. We are also hesitant to pay off the debts since we will only have $50k left for furniture repairs and some renovations/upgrades.

Edits

$3100=PITI
No kids
Will get 1 dog if we buy
$132k was 2025 income, 2026 projected income is $150k gross
Student loan and car payment will be paid off in 4.5 years
Paying off debt would put us under 20 percent leading to PMI insurance

Any chance PT is enough? Last dislocated 04/2025

Hey all, first dislocation 07/2017, second 02/2018,
Third 04/2025…my first two dislocations I felt back to normal after PT,

After this most recent dislocation I feel 90 percent, I have good range of motion but it seems like there is some kind of nerve irritation now that makes my forearm feel tight and my hand swollen.

Anyone in a similar position I’d love to hear if PT helped you avoid surgery or if I should bite the bullet

Living near Freeway Noise Wall/Barrier

Hey all, been looking at a house near i55 in the Chicago suburbs. 3 line highway in both direction cars usually fly 75-80 miles through there.

Would this be ok, there is a giant barrier blocking the neighborhood. I can definitely still hear the cars but I am wondering if the wall helps with air quality / pollution

Low ball or wait

Been house hunting for a while and one just came up in the private network that I actually really like, but the pricing has me second guessing myself… it seems like they are pricing high, hoping someone will bite…

They want $519k for a 1,440 sq ft house.
Fairly renovated but it has a 16 year old roof, and still has fuses for electrical
I think a fair offer is $460k

Neighbor’s house sold for $462k last July and was ~1,900 sq ft
Another nearby house sold in the $470k and was ~2,000 sq ft.. sold last October.

These are direct comparables in the same neighborhood.

Homes in my area are appreciating at 3-4 percent a year (Chicago suburbs)

Since it’s still in the private market / “coming soon” stage, would you:

Submit a low ball offer now before it officially hits the market?
Wait and see if it sits and gets price drops?

Curious what people here would do in this market

How do I get around the ai when calling customer service

Hey all, it seems like the past few months every time I call I get these ai reps….it’s very frustrating they end up having to verify my account info over and over again. I asked to speak to a manager but I feel like it doesn’t register what I am saying half the time…
